Sense Amelia's First Pop At Indoor Soil Grow

Amelia,

If you want to check it out, I did a little defoliating on my plants this morning. I need more room under the scrog screen for watering. So, I snipped off some useless growth. The pics are on the most recent page of my journal.

Hello Mutt, yes, I was looking at some of my ladies fan leaves and thinking.... Hmm, "shall I? Shaln't I?" :laughtwo: I am very tempted but do regret that I did not do it alot sooner in their vegetative state. I read that link that someone posted about defoliation in your thread. Very interesting. I think your plants look divine basking in all that man made sunshine and I think your reasoning for the defoliation was sensible. Defo have more room in there now for you and them. :cheer:

Thanks Canman, I am rather smitten with them. This is only my first grow, and already I am planning the second. Just how addictive is this s***, man? :circle-of-love:

Will not bombard you with a wealth of pics today as there really isn't any change, they still look great, they stink, and they enjoyed the fact that I gave them more water last time so thanks for you guys advices on that.

Here they are basking in their false sun. (You can see that I do have the light some distance away still, (27 - 28 " away) but temps are good with this, sliding along between 79-81 deg F most of the time.)

They stand at around 17 inches tall now.

Thanks Fuzzy!! I think we did do alot of home work prior to set up, few snags along the way though, there always are LOL.
With the lamp, it's a Maxi Grow budget system I believe and the bulb is a Sun Master.

Yes the BioBizz was recommmended by a grower friend, I had no clue what to get.

Hello Sense Amelia

To clip or not to clip, that is the question :cheesygrinsmiley: ... It has its use but these look a little young to be clipping?

Home work is worth while & makes ol fuzzy happy... i'll PM ya some MJ botany journals, slightly hard core reading but ya pick some good info up :green_heart:

I'm familar with sun master but not tryed their bulbs yet as i currently use a dual spectrum bulb by growlux/sylvania 85%red/15% blue with good results...

Some may be sceptical about dual spectrums as their reasonable new tec & may believe results not to be as good as HPS ? this is partly down to decades of use of HPS/MH dominating the growing scene but times are changing...

You made a good choice soil/organics is some what easy to deal with being a new growing & cheaper when compared to hydro systems.

It took myself months to decide 'n' lots of home work also & finally making a leap of faith for organics/soil, being a gardener by trade i know where i stand with good ol fashion dirt :peace:

These plants did grow all by themselves long before we started messing with them. You'll know when you NEED to pinch off a leaf or two. I don't take off growth unless it is really obviously in the way and stunting other needed growth. And, I try not to ever take any more than 20 percent at any given time ..... since it is the fan leaves that make the plants engine go around.

I like what you are going so far. You are so right to keep it simple. Let em grow and see what they do. The whole thing is a learning experience anyway. Just have fun with it.

Thanks Fuzzy! I'll look at those!

Yes, again, I had no clue what to choose but it was suggested to me that it was worth getting. I think it's great! It seems to be getting the job done alright.

You're so right, we know we we stand with the dirt. :Namaste:

Thanks for your input Mutt, I seriously am just gonna leave 'em. I have been tucking the larger leaves behind the smaller ones a bit so the smaller ones get more of the light. Also did some more tying up today.

I have them a plain watering today as last one with nutes was on Sunday. I'll hit them up with a bit of Grow nutes for first time on saturday and some more bloom.
