Second Outdoor Desert Autoflower In Arizona

My second Mad Martigan harvest is feeling pretty crispy on the outside. Time to seal it up for the day and check on humidity levels. The first harvest jars are currently curing.

I have some questions on storage.
I am a pretty light user these days compared to most, when I buy from dispensary I typically buy grams and edibles.
This is the most weed I’ve had in years! I feel rich!!

Took a break for many years with just occasional usage and my tolerance level is still pretty low even after a year of having my card. For example I take a 10 mg gummy and split it in 4’s. :rofl:They ran out of those due to rec still being crazy right now, and I had to buy 30 mg ones. Still trying to figure out how I’m going to accurately dose those.

How does everybody keep their buds for long term storage? I’m thinking jars with humidity packs would be the best option? Do you use the 62% ones or drop it lower for storage?

I do plan on creating tinctures as well, bought some everclear the other day and may try some type of oil infusion, thinking those will be a good way to keep it long term also?

BB is starting to develop buds. PP is starting to show some pistols so won’t be too far behind. I will fertilize tmo and will switch to bloom schedule for BB and guessing I should stay with late veg for PP. I’m still trying to figure out if I need to condense the GH schedule for autos.

Congrats on having more than you need, and that supply is going to get even bigger with each harvest!

I dry and burp for a total of three weeks from chop, ending up in the low 60s RH. Then I seal the jars with a Boveda 62 and put them in a cool dark place for the cure.

I've opened jars from harvests over two years ago and they smell the same as they did after six months. And I have two jars from my first harvest in summer of 2017 and you can just start to tell that they're starting to fade.

The jars that I take buds from have a 62% Boveda packs in them. The long term storage ones have a 62% pack in them and I also vacuum seal them. I have one of those hand held Mityvacs and I bought a food saver lid/vacuum sealer from Amazon. All of the vacuum sealed ones are in wide mouth mason jars. I also make sure they are protected the light. I keep mine covered in a spare dresser drawer.

Cool! I’ll have to get one of those!!

BTW I just got home and checked the jar. It’s at 69%, which actually means 73% as my hygrometer is 4% off as checked with the salt slurry test. Back in the fridge they go but I’ll be keeping a very close eye on them!

I don’t know why, but for some reason I thought all of your stuff had reached 62% rH, but that must be the stuff you dried outside the fridge. Maybe I better lay off the weed. :lot-o-toke:

So, refresh my memory, how long have these been doing the L&S?

I harvested in two batches. I was really unsure on my tricome reading ability so I decided to do it in two stages. So the first batch has been done in his curing now this is the second batch that I harvested two weeks ago Sunday.

So I actually had three separate batches, two harvested the first time, one in the fridge, one out of the fridge, and then one harvested I think three weeks later? I’m thinking I harvested the first batch to early although at the time I was sure it was too late LOL. Live and learn I guess! I have a quart mason jar three-quarter full of each.

OK. Got it. I think it’s good that your buds are at 73%. The longer you can low & slow in your fridge the better. The buds that turned out the best last year took me anywhere from 25-30 days to get to 62% rH. I found the best way to do that was to keep the volume of the buds in the jar around 2/3 full. I kept having to consolidate buds in to fewer jars to maintain that ratio. You can also put buds in smaller jars to maintain that ratio if need be.

I started this batch in a paper bag at first, because I was worried about lack of airflow in my little dorm fridge. I moved them to the jar once they felt a little dry on the outside. I’ll be forever grateful to you for turning me on to this method. I couldn’t figure out how I was going to dry outdoors in this climate without ruining it. My hubby doesn’t smoke, or really like it, (I know, I need a new hubby, right? Lol) and doesn’t want it in the house until it’s sealed in jars.

My wife's hubby doesn't smoke either, but luckily he doesn't have a problem with the growing or the smell. ;)
Wanted to both :green_heart: and:rofl: that post!

Saturday update in the desert:
High 92° F, low 56° F
Humidity dry as a bone as usual.

Fertilized this morning. Gave the seedlings 2ml each GH flora trio. I’ll probably be up potting them soon and then I’ll switch to the different formulas I’m trying.

I gave the autos the GH week 1 of the early bloom formula, the PP and Runty aren’t quite there yet but I didn’t feel like mixing up 3 different batches. And PP really doesn’t need to grow anymore because she’s going to outgrow my enclosure so a little less nitrogen will be just fine I think. As for Runty, she’s just the red headed stepchild who gets whatever I’m using lol.
They probably could’ve used the water yesterday as PP was a little wilted this morning but they’ll bounce back fine I think.

I also topped the seedlings today. I didn’t think to take a pic until I had already topped 2, the right one is yet untopped in this pic

Did a little more LST on runty today.

Superb, The rapid change in weather also means high wind. Look at dew point outside not RH if dewpoint above 32° not bad

My weather forecast doesn’t give neither the dew point or humidity. I get the humidity from my thermometer. How do I get the dewpoint?

I also played around with my new TDS meter this morning. Rainwater was 30ppm (PH 7) , RO water from our kitchen tap was 26ppm (but the PH is 9 with our alkaline filter) Tapwater from the garden hose was 467ppm (PH around 8). When I run out of stored rainwater (I have about 65 gallons left) I wonder if I wouldn’t be better off using the RO water with pH down.
