Second Outdoor Desert Autoflower In Arizona

Fridge bud was at 70 today so I will start curing and burping. Too easy at this point to drop too low, I’d rather start a little high and burp more.

Transplanted the photo seedlings into 1 gal pots today, and plunged into a 20 gal fabric pot. They were drying out in a day with the heat we’ve been having. The next couple days will be cooler (mid 70’s) so it will be a nice break for them to get used to their new pots before we rocket back into the high 90’s next week.

The auto girls are filling up their box, and had to scrunch them to together to fit the new pots.

Buds forming on BB.

Pic of one of the buds from MM before I put the jar in the dresser.

When I first read that I thought you meant you were planting 1 plant in a 20 gal pot. Ha!
Lol! I got the plunging idea from the Plumeria people. They like to do that to keep the roots cool.
That looks really nice!
Thanks! There’s a few yellow sugar leaves in there, I’ll trim them off later. Or maybe it’s paloverde
;)

How did I miss this update? :sorry:

That's a lovely looking nug! And squeezing all those plants in that tiny space is almost like growing in a small but really hot tent. :)
No worries! I know you have many irons in the fire, lol.
Thanks! Supposed to be over 100 Saturday so it really will be a hot tent.

Sat morning update:
Current temp at 10:20am is 90F, forecast is 98 but thinking it will be hotter.
Current humidity 15%
Took these pics last night. PP is outgrowing the box, thinking I will have to move her into my enclosed garden, which is not ground squirrel proof so will need to put a ring of hardware cloth around her. I watered with nutes yesterday am and the BB was a little wilted. A few leaves are looking crispy, but it’s not all the leaves so I’m not sure what’s going on. Maybe heat stress from lack of water yesterday? I did some google research this morning and heat stress seems to match closest or possible potassium deficiency?

Durban Poison top right, Tangerine Dream bottom, Champagne Kush top left. DP got GH nutes today, TD Simply Professional, and CK got Agrothrive. CK has Biolive mixed in the soil but I figure it’s prob not available to the plant yet so that’s why the Agrothrive. Already regretting my decision to give different nutes as it’s kind of a pain to mix 3 different nutes. I may decide to put them all on the GH.

Only 2 large fan leaves look like this
But a couple more fans look like this. We had a sprinkle of rain the other day and a dust storm so that’s why the leaves are all dirty.

Let’s hope that’s what it is, because it looks like the same kind of issues I’m having/had and I came to the same ”google search” conclusion of heat or potassium issues. I may also have/had a need for more CalMag. I was using 6g/gal MC. I was having a chat with Shed and he reminded me that folks were having issues with lock out when using MC above 5.5g/gal. So I dropped the MC down to 5G/gal, but added 2ml/gal of CalMag and Signal. Both are from TPS nutrients. Signal contains 3.1% potassium, 0.5% Mg and 1.0% sulfur. The organic CalMag OAC has 4.5% Ca and 1.1% Mg. It seems to be helping. The old leaves aren’t getting better, which I didn’t think they would, but the newer leaves appear to be fine.

kind of a pain to mix 3 different nutes.
Yeah I know, but if that’s what it takes to keep everything green and for the buds to get fat, then that’s what I’m gonna do.

Do you have a grow journal going? I don’t see any in your signature but would like to follow along if you do.

It would be better if it IS potassium, as that I can do something about. Although if the heat stress was only caused by lack of water I can control that too. The weather has been crazy lately, hot and then cold, then back to hot which makes anticipating watering a little tougher. I lifted the pots before I went to work and thought they would be ok waiting but guess not, lol.

Because I still have about 55 gallons of rain water left I have been using Cal-mag. If I ever have to use tap, which is very hard, very high PH, and alkaline well water, I prob won’t need CalMag but will need to PH down at least. That will lower PH but won’t do anything about the alkalinity but all I can do is what I can do. Could use my RO water and PH down that (it has an alkaline filter PH is at around 9) but that wastes so much water that it’s not ideal.

Moved my photo seedlings and runty into the enclosed garden today to make more room for the autos. Was going to move the bigger PP auto but it was easier to make a hardware cloth ring for the seedlings, and since this was to be their eventual home anyways might as well let them get used to it.
My bigger PP leaves are showing some symptoms, maybe phosphorus deficiency??? I upped the bloom for both and removed the affected leaves and I guess I’ll see what happens. PH of my water and nutes this morning was 6.

Went to my husband’s coworkers cornhole tournament last night and had a few too many shots of Skrewball, so feeling quite poorly today, lol.

Hi, Tommboy-
I got those brown spots on the leaves when I was watering with rainwater- 4ml/gal of calmag got it under control in a week or so- the leaves didn't heal, but the brown spots stopped on the new growth...if you're already using calmag, you may need a few more ml/gallon...
Your plants look damn good though, spots or not!

@Carcass thanks so much! I hadn’t used the cal mag for the last 2 waterings but I remembered to use it yesterday so hopefully that will take care of it. I used 2.5 ml per gallon (just because a teaspoon per 2 gallon watering can was easy). Directions say 2 to 5 mls per gallon so if I see any more brown areas I will up the dose.

You could also water with pH'd tap water a couple of times to get them the minerals they need- as soon as I ran out of rainwater and switched to tap, the problem went away for good...

Do you have a grow journal going?
No I don’t. I’m in Florida. It’s not legal here so I decided it’s best not to do a grow journal.

I lifted the pots before I went to work and thought they would be ok waiting but guess not, lol.
I weigh mine on a scale similar to a bathroom scale but the max it weighs is 150lbs.

maybe phosphorus deficiency???
Could be. Phosphorus interacts with calcium, so using the CalMag may work.

I hope you’re feeling better. More importantly, I hope you had a few too many because you guys won!

@BigD13 Thanks! Feeling back to normal today. And no, we didn’t

I get it, I was too scared to even grow before it became legal here!

Never thought about using a scale, interesting. How do you come up with your ideal number? Just weighing frequency and seeing what it’s at right before it wilts? How do you account for the growing plant weight?
