Second Outdoor Desert Autoflower In Arizona

If wanted to be really daring and live dangerously, half of the ones you plant in your beds you could feed with dry nutes and top dressings; and the other half you could use Mega Crop. Then you could see which method you like best. You could do the same thing in pots too.

I’ve been meaning to ask, how deep is your well? I use well water also. Mine is down around 120’ or so. The water pH is 7.4 and the total alkalinity usually tests to between 120-140 ppm.
Good idea! I saw there are different mega crops. There’s a single one and one that is a part A and part B. You just use the single? All the way thru? Do you add anything else during flower? I may try that in one of the pots. I wanted to t try organic in the ground because I wasn’t sure if organic would work in the sunshine mix. If there would be enough microbes in the soilless mix?

I’m not sure how deep the well is. It’s a small community well. Most wells out here are 800 to 1000 ft deep. (Which is why we don’t have our own, $$$$) We have the luxury of piped water (most properties in my area of BFE haul their own water) and pay water bills. They did get a grant last year to get new tanks and RO a percentage of the water to bring contaminents to potable levels. It wasn’t considered drinkable before with high levels of arsenic, nitrate, nitrites and uranium. So I’m wondering how much the RO’d portion will affect alkalinity. I’ve asked for water reports before and just got one on contaminate levels. I’ll ask again but not holding my breath that they have the answers I’m looking for. Ill
Prob have to test it myself.

I read what I wrote and ask myself, why do I live here, lol. I really miss Michigan sometimes.

I had to get outta Tucson! Summer is to hot! I would have to wait til night to go out and do anything!
It is definitely too hot! The winters are what makes it worth it tho. And definitely not as buggy and muggy as MI.

You just use the single?
Yes.

All the way thru?
Yes.

Do you add anything else during flower?
They way MC works is you dose it by weight. For small plants & seedlings you add 2 grams per gallon. For veg you add 4g/gal and flower is 6g/gal. Those are rough numbers. They have a feeding schedule/calculator on their website. The only thing I’ve noticed over the last 2 grows, is that I should have increased the dosage sooner to avoid having a potassium deficiency. It started around day 30 when I was in a 1gal pot & feeding her 3g/gal. I probably should have been at 5g/gal. She‘s now in a 7 gal pot and is doing great with 6g/gal MC. That’s all I give her. Right now she gets 1.5 gallons about every 3 days. I usually try to get 15-20% runoff.

I don’t know either.

Oh, and just to be clear, I only use the well water for irrigation, washing the car, etc. Our house has city water.

I was stationed in the U.P when I was in the Air Force.

Wednesday update! High today of 86° F and low of 56° Current humidity about 12%.
Girls are growing nicely. Day 50 today. Pistils starting to show on the PP.

Fertilized today with week 4 from the GH trio feedchart plus 2.5 ml Armor Si per gallon.

As you can see I still have not transplanted runty.
The photo seedlings are coming along. I can see roots on all sides of the inner solo cups.

And non cannabis related but still cool, first bloom on my Peruvian Apple Cactus, big as my hand. Hopefully I get some fruit, there’s about 6 buds total.

Also I wasn’t sure when I’m supposed to start fertilizing the seedlings? They are two weeks old today from germination. I read somewhere that you don’t fertilize until the cotyledons yellow, but they’re still nice and green, and they’re working on their third set of leaves above those.

The plants look happy in the mild heat, and it really was a great idea to plant the solo cups in the dirt to keep them cool. :welldone:

Beautiful cactus flower too!

I start with mild nutrients when the second set of true leaves (after the cots) are open. I found that waiting for the cots to yellow left me playing catch up with deficiencies.

Thanks! I occasionally have one of those :p

Great! I just gave them a sip of water this morning. I’ll give them another little sip with a tickle of nutes. Guess I’ll just use the GH for now because I still haven’t decided/purchased what I’m going to fertilize these with. I have MC in the cart on Amazon. Also there is a local guy in Tucson just came out with his own 2 part powdered nutes line, he is going to send me samples.

I bet those chickens are wishing that fence wasn’t there ‘cause I know they’d be all over your plants.

Haha! You saw the chickens eyeing it in the pics. I finally finished harvesting the rest of my first plant today and the chickens got the leaves and even a few of the larfy buds off that so they were very happy.

Those look really good. Are ya gonna do the low & slow dry with them?

Thank you! Yep, I am. They’re in the fridge as we speak. I’m sold, lol.

And note to self...don’t put cannabis plants under the Palo Verde tree that’s in bloom. I was picking little yellow petals out even after a wash. I’m sure I’ll still end up smoking some

I guess you can call that your special blend: Mad Martigan with just a hint of Palo Verde. :ganjamon:

That was 134 days on that one for the rest of the harvest. Longest auto ever. Almost double it’s stated time of 75 days. I think the cold in the beginning slowed its veg way down tho. And I believe my first harvest was still a bit early, so I’m super curious to test out the difference once both are done. I definitely saw ambers in it this time. Because of my inexperience with reading tricomes I’m glad I staggered the harvest. It was definitely a good learning experience. And it was nice to have help!! Thanks everyone, couldn’t have done it without you.
