I'm gearing up for the light change out this weekend. Already I feel that the color or spectrum and spread of the Spider is going to make her reach for the stars...or lights...LOL.

Sunday...the first day after the change out will be the test.

Yes, That is because the heat was Distributing from LEDs, COB LED is very hot when it's working, it must be very good heatsink.:circle-of-love:

That may also explain the higher heat readings that I was feeling when I plugged it up for the first time.

On another note and I'm hoping for some input from the DWC guys....

Last week I noticed some film or stuff build up in the res. As a result of what I saw last week I flushed the res with 3 gallons of clean water before adding the fresh nutrients. I also stirred the res during the draining process to get as much of the build up out as possible.

What is the build up and do I need to be concerned with it? I'm assuming it's just the wasted nutrients that the plant didn't take up. The roots look fine. An off white color.

Could this also be a result of the res temps??? I'm still having issues with the chiller. Sometimes it works and most times it doesn't. But at least the temps only run high around 78-80. At the moment its below 70 with the help of some ice bottles.

Hey Renegade! I've caught up subbed up..

Might i make a suggestion for your DWC?

Aquashield!!!! This stuff kicks high water temps ass!!! as well it colonizes your root zone and protects it from the harmful bacteria while allowing the beneficial bacteria to thrive. Its a liquid compost solution derived from composted poultry litter, and will obliterate anything not useful in your res, and turn it into a useful food source for your roots.

Like Cronic, i too leave my roots out of the water and exposed to the air in my room while doing my res changes. The plants love a quick breather of fresh air to the roots before going back into the soup!

Also, congrats on your new Spider!

I just started a Review journal myself with a Twilight LED. A small model, but i think a larger side by side LED vs HID comparison grow with one of their larger panels is in the works.

I'll be following along!!

The fluxy lady is looking good after her haircut & you're almost at a perfect T :bravo: The only advice I would offer is the fan leaf in the top right of your pic is covering the end of the arm to the left, so I'd tuck it underneath to allow the light through :)

Thanks Twilight for answering my question :thumb: Another quickie is how much difference is there between the LED layout in this COB to the custom one CO Finest is running in his new journal?

Yes you may and welcome. And I have to appologize to Cronic because he may have suggested AquaShield to me awhile back. Someone did. So I'll look into it.

As far as the roots and changeout. I was actually delaying draining the res till I mixed the nutes therefor limiting the amount of time the roots were exposed to the air. Now I know I was doing the plant a disservice. From here on out I'll drain the res and flush the roots first and let her sit while I mix up the next batch.

Thanks for the share.

Thanks for the input Skunny. I may have already corrected that. I did some final adjustments before going to bed and didn't take a final pic. Even thought about doing so but it was late. I'll check it out when I get to the house tonight.

And I will reach out to CO to see if he minds a link in my signature directing others to his journal with the custom unit.

The big boys will be interested in custom jobs that TwiLight offers.

CO is a top guy so I'm sure he'll oblige.

I think it's great that they are offering two spectrums & they are happy to build a custom light to your specifications. As you say, the big boys will certainly be interested in what TwiLight have to offer.
If they have finally sorted the heat issues with the COB's that everyone was having the 1st time round I think they are definitely the way forward.

Glad it's Saturday...LOL.
