Renegade's Hydro Flux - Featuring TwiLight Group's 432 Watt Spider COB LED

what do you mean by film?
im assuming some kinda layer or something looking like its on the surface of the water
ive never noticed anything like that as my bubblers move the water at a good rate
but as normal I do weekly res changes and clean my res during those times
premix and ph the amount I need then put the plant back in
I also while the plant is not in the res buckets flush the roots out with a few cups of water from the top down

Good morning Cronic...by the way....which is the correct spelling...LOL. Even in your signature you have both spellings....CHOOSE!!!....LOL.

Anyway, maybe film was a bad choice of word here. A build up is more like it. And not on the surface of the water but build up on the equipment in the water and yes on the roots. So build up is a better word. I'm beginning to suspect water temp as the cause. Higher temps are allowing for the build up.

And going with your last sentence.....when I change out the res I will flush the roots as you did with the water. May use a spray bottle to help with that.

You said "put back in"??? You remove the plant from the res? How often do you do that and how does that effect the plant? I have a second res I use for mixing and my res has a drain plug for empting. So I'm not touching the plant at all during change out.

Thanks again for the suggestion....

I'm really starting to understand fluxing. :woohoo: The pics combined with all the commentary on where you cut and why you cut is great. :thanks:

And hopefully you'll get a better understanding....well at least enjoy the pics.

This morning I did some more training. I wanted to get those side by side fans pulled down and out of the way to allow light to get in the crutch of the arm where the side shoots will appear. Crutch may be a bad choice of the word but hopefully you get the idea.

And of course we did some more spreading of the tips of the main arms.

Sprite,

IMO, Fluxing is very, very time consuming but the end results are sooooo very rewarding...LOL.

It's an OCD person's dream because it does require some serious and constant one on one till the stretch and eventual flip. You will have to get in close so may be an issue for you because of your mobility. If it's not a problem then go for it. I'm normally on the floor with my head in close trying to do my thing....LOL.

This is a nice hobby....LOL.

You could just try growing a few without all the attention to get the hang of things. Or you could do like most have and just jump right in....LOL.

You'll have help along the way.

You're doing it like a pro :thumb:
I have to agree, a bit of OCD, artistic flair, mixed with a touch of madness is the perfect traits for a fluxer. The patience of a saint is also required :)

Hi dear friend,

I had a thought about your " I noticed some film or stuff build up in the res" and i may confess that my res temp : 80-85F (no way to do less and it's why i use air pump and hydrogen peroxide) sometimes produce brown form amalgams in the rez (before adding hydrogen P it was the same)

Never had the same thing as you describe it.

Thank you Skunny but lets be honest. I have a great teacher and great supporting staff in the 420 community.

I can't fail...would you let me???

Tad, I have everything but the use of hydrogen peroxide. Will have to research that and see what I'm missing. I'm considering adding another air pump to see what that does. At the very least it will give me a better air mixture in my water.

80-85 is high. The ideal res temp is closer to 70 with 68 being optimum.

I literally take it out place it in an empty bucket actually some of my pics are taken in a yellow bucket that is just an empty bucket I use to hold the plant while I clean the res bucket and change out the water and nutes
and I rinse out my roots in there
and my pics of my cs sprayed plant atm the plant looks great the roots don't look the whitest but
as long as the plant is eating and looking healthy im not gonna worry about it as I never have optimum temps
and I think the plant for the most part do fine, ive had a plant or 2 that couldn't take it but most are pretty resilient
knock on wood :high-five:

Knock, knock...LOL.

Yea, the plant is very resilient but a little preventive care won't hurt either.

Going to stick with your plan of rinsing the roots during change out.

I know i know but i decide to live here so i have to deal with hot water :ganjamon:.

In fact yout ideal temp is mainly to reach two goals, first quantity of oxygen in the water, cf chart above, and next in order to prevent moisture and bad stuff on the roots. At 85F with two air stone and Hydrogen peroxide; finally no pb to deal with :)

And i do the same as CronicH, rince the roots with fresh water with PH 5.8, the only white parts are roots new growths, rest looks old and brown ! i'll take a pic tonigh

I don't know about having OCD, but...I have been told that I'm a bit of a control freak :;):

As far as time consuming, that shouldn't be an issue. As long as I have a stool to sit on, I think that I can get in close enough to do all of the trimming and training, although I'm thinking that my first grow will be a couple of free auto seeds that I'll just let do their thing so I can get used to everything.

I saw that the shipping is free this month (usually $299) for the growboxusa cab that I've been considering, so if things go according to plan, I'll be growing soon. :woohoo: ... and I'll for sure need some help then. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Wow, looks pretty hot :lot-o-toke:
