Renaissance Man's First Official Grow: Blueberry OG, Gorilla Zkittles & Cream Caramel In Soil

Side note: With family in town for the last 7 days or so, I got behind on journals. Just took like 2 hours but I'm all caught up again! phew!

Have a great Monday, y'all!!

Hi RM!
When you say equivalent, what else are you giving them? Can you fill me in a bit on the media, water frequency and amount?
Can you also post what the GA is on the bag of MC that you use? It's on the back of the bag typically.
Hello you :)

Ren just so you know you are speaking to the Tega Brop *taps nose* king here!

Hope you had a great Christmas day Saugy!

Really good to see you :)

Again, your plants look great with the exception of the color loss. I believe this will improve as you feed more. If not, we can look at adding the calmag and increasing the amount of food.
Continue to use the DIY product as I don't see any reason to switch yet.
Hey 1:2,3 back to me, while you’re here and in an advicey mood. I have a question.

I have a plant in flower 10 days in I think, somewhere around there. She is bang on perfect green. And I mean bang on. I am at 2g/2L. Based on colour I never increased to 2.25g/2L. My chart says to go up to 2.5g. Should I wait to see if she needs it or just do it?

She's doing great other than her boobs are hurting because of the milk buildup. Doc said she just has to keep her chest strapped or sports bras. It looks as painful as she feels. Other than that, family was in town and we had a great, no drama few days! Can't complain about that!

That's what I've heard and sounds like I'm back on the right track. I was a little nervous earlier, but gaining confidence once again.

I'll forego this question and wait for @MrSauga to respond. I have an answer in my head, but it's probably wrong!

Thank you! Things are starting to look pretty good. I see trichomes building up and hopefully will have some long or tall cola's. I think I defol'd a little too much. I can't help myself. I keep seeing more leaves that are blocking the little bud sites and trim another here and there.

lol, King huh? You been nipping at the Kangaroo juice again? I had a great Christmas. I hope you did as well. Sorry for not getting around, but you're not the only one who I miss these days. Maybe next year I'll have more time to give, we'll see. Nice to see you Trala.

I'm always in an advicey mood. It's about catching me at the right time lately.
As for feeding, I tend to increase after I flip to flower. But, as you know there is no need to if your plants are showing no reason to. Many times less is more with MC when it comes to flowering. The right soil helps a lot, and threatening them by dumping them into the chlorine pool doesn't hurt either. Be ready to add some more, but for now you are doing the right thing.

Were you right?

haha.. nope. I was thinking to push the MC a little bit until the plant shows disturbance and then back off.
Ideally plants want to follow certain ratios, and when you start to push the limits with MC you really whack those ratios out.

As an example, the K.Ca.Mg ratio is 4.2.1, but when you get going too high then you start adding too much K or P. Since the N remains relatively low you're never really able to get the plants to green up, if they were yellowing. You'd end up creating more lockouts because you were overdoing certain elements in the feed.

Since MC uses around 7% Ca, it should have around 3.5% Mg, but it falls way short. The K to Ca ratio is really never achievable at higher amounts and plants tend to suffer. The trick is to add calmag but reduce the MC amount. So if you were noticing all kinds of K defs then it would be a good sign to reduce the MC and add a calmag supplement.

So if you don't have to push the plants with MC then let them go until they tell you differently. I know from experience that the plants tend to use more MC when they go into flower, but I never exceed 6 grams, rarely exceeding 5.5 grams per gallon. This is why I tend to increase when I flip to flower, to try and stay ahead of any deficiencies.

In Trala's case, she is confident her plants are bang on perfect, so there would be no reason for her to increase based on what she is feeling. If she said she had some slight fading then I would have suggested to bump up the feed.

so yeah, not at all what I was thinking LOL

Flower day 22
5 days since water/feed

Man it's been busy with family in town and then yesterday I was sick in bed with a 24hr flu. That sucked but I'm good now. I didn't even check on the plants yesterday because I couldn't get out of bed.
Opening the tent today, they all looked great.
CC still has some yellowing of her lower leaves but doesn't seem like it is getting any worse. The soil still feels pretty soaked so I think I'll wait another day or two before watering. She definitely is the frostiest of the three.

GZ looks good and starting to thicken up. And is the tallest and closest to the light.

BB looks really good especially now that I trimmed a lot and plenty of light is reaching the whole stems. There are a handful of small budsites in the lower middle and I'm not sure what they will turn out to be. Time will tell.
Here they are:

Oh and one more thing, I have not even discussed the generosity that @Rexer has shown by donating his winning @ViparSpectra prize. I am very grateful to him and the community. I'm still trying to decide which light to get and how to incorporate it into my next grow, but it will all be documented in a separate journal. Thanks again to y'all. Much love to the community!

Hey Saucy Sauga ;)

I really hope 2022 brings you back here more. 420 needs your chilled and laid back flavour and skill. Well I think it does. I legit miss seeing you. Oiii while I got you, my fridge dry was a success. I was so happy with the result.

Thank you. I’ll watch them closely :)

Here’s a curtsy for old times sake :)

I know you'll do good by ViparSpectra. :green_heart:
For the light choice, it would depend on how much space you have, do you have any future expansion plans?
And sadly, it also usually comes down to budget (for me anyways).

That’s so nice of you @Rexer :)
Thank you Trala! I hope you had a merry Christmas!

A bonus ontop a bonus, now that is nice to see. I'm quite positive that you also made a few people smile and brightened their Christmas.
I am really looking forward to the adventures 2022 will bring us.
Same here! Any special plans? I've got a few, some might turn out to be wishful thinking/pipe dreams, but I plan on trying my hardest to make it happen
