Random Thoughts: Plants & Genetics

I know you have a great Chem, Pennywise. That is the key. Special plants are just that "special" LOL. The Strawberry Lemonade is as good of weed as I have every grown. Finding one plant in a grow like this is a not too rare. Finding 2 from 2 different strains is really rare. I can't even imagine what the hybrid between these 2 will be like. I would love to say it is one hit shit. I stop after 3 hits, that says a lot LMAO.

Whats funny is the other plants of both strains look like normal good weed. Last run nothing had the trichome coverage like these 2 have. The Strawberry Lemonade is the frostiest plant I have had from Barnes Farm. I have had lots of great plants in that time. As good as the SL is it is nothing compared to the Banana Sorbet growth wise. These Sorbet plants are going to produce better than any one strain has ever for me. Not what I would expect from a strain bought for quality not size.
 
Very true Pennywise. Pretty sure the one Banana Sorbet I got is the one they were hoping for when they bred it. It really makes me wonder how big the Sorbet #4 is going to be. My GG hybrids have not been really big as of yet. What really sucks is I could only get a 3 pack of it. I have to be ready to save the best if it is anything like the Banana Sorbet.
 
Trimming starts today. i got the Humidifier working and it keeps the drying tent Between 45 and 55% humidity. Perfect for drying. Things worked perfert. With it setting on the dresser next to it. It sucks the steam right from the unit into the tent. I have the Fan on medium and the Humidifier on low and it works perfect. I put a hose in the opening so the humid air goes to the bottom of the tent and not right onto the hanging plants. This set up should work perfect.

This is the first time I have ever tried to control the drying environment. Hope I don't F**k it up LMAO.
 
Ok trimming didn't start yesterday lol. The plant I wanted to start with still has a few clear trichomes. All the Cataract Kush are going a little longer then I first thought. First plants are going to be the Clown Royal and The BOO.

I am going fishing this morning but will probably start with the BOO plant later today. I want to regenerate it so I can pollinate it with one or both the main plants I am keeping. I am down to only 4 plants to regenerate. Strawberry Lemonade and Banana Sorbet for selfing and SSH and BOO and females for pollen.

BOO is ready to the point it can be harvested without loosing much and still has plenty of life that it should regenerate well.
 
BOO is now in rehab. I took it a little sooner then I normally would have just so she can regenerate. I really don't know if I will self it or not. I have already noticed recessive traits in the S-1 that I don't like. It is actually the plant that got SSH pollen damn it LOL. I don't think I will even keep these seeds. The weed from that pheno may still change my mind. A long tall Haze is totally different then what this plant is. Maybe it will help the structure and calyx/leaf ratio.

Drying tent is going to be a ongoing project. It worked great with no plants in it lol. Things will change even more as I add more plants. I hate all this adjusting. I will work at finding what is the happy medium that I can leave at one setting.
 
I am way impressed with the new drying chamber. It has taken a little trial and air but it is working great. I am on day 3 with BOO and it still needs time to dry. Weed is smoke-able at this stage for me normally. It looks like it will be ready in a couple days.

I have found I need to turn the humidifier off if the door is closed. Humidity gets into the 60's when I do that. I would rather avoid levels that high. With it off for short periods I can still keep the humidity above 45%. I would rather have it range fro 45 to 55 then 55 to 60. Constant humidity seems to stay in the 48% range.

I can't wait to see the other differences a better drying environment will bring.
 
I am back to trimming everyday now. By the time I get done with the small tent. The others should be done. At least most anyway. The Ghost Train Haze and the last Super Silver Haze will take a bit longer. The #1 pheno of GTH is getting pretty close. Not sure about the other. It isn't to far behind.

The last SSH is going to be a couple more weeks. I am hoping not to much longer then that. It is trying hard to finish and is still looking good. The last few weeks of flower SSH has been kicking my ass. They ate themselves up at the end. These are as hard to grow as they say LMAO. Pretty happy with the outcome so far but I really would have liked to finish them longer. They will be fine I just don't know that they are as strong as they could be. I bumped up the nuits on the last plant. I am also going to give it a little cal/mag just to be sure. I need to do some checking. I think they want more Phosphorous then I am giving them. I know they want extra something.

All the indicas are starting to finish up now. Strawberry Lemonade is taking lots longer then they said. I now need to decide when to take the SL and BS that I plan to regenerate. I want them as strong as possible, I need them to regenerate more. I want to make sure there are a couple of white hairs left on the lowest buds. Trick is to take them late enough they are still as strong as I think they will be. I would hate to scrap a project just because I did't finish a plant long enough.
 
Morning Dank. whats up with you? I just got done looking at D.J. Shorts Seven of Nine. It is basically a remade F-13. One of his older strains again. Thing is I have grown F-13 and really liked it. That was 10 years ago at least. I don't know that it can compete with the new strains.

I just don't know what is up with the Shorts. Do they really think that they can keep doing the same shit over and over and keep up with the rest of the strains out there.
 
All's good here. Hopefully you are having a good Easter. Only thing I can say about DJ's gear is it's outdated and Way overpriced. His son's stuff is at least affordable. But DJ is asking top dollar for strains that nobody is talking about anymore. I'd have to guess it's mostly older folks keeping his gear moving. I do have a couple packs I've been sitting on for a long time. Think I might have hooked you up with BB f4's. Can't remember :laughtwo: I'm not too excited about running any of his stuff anytime soon. I'll get back to it sooner or later tho. It is good genetics. Just a blast from the past. Lmao
 
That is not doing me and Orlando no good at all LMAO. We have those BB too. I do like his genetics in some ways. They are lots differences then most of the old school strains. Pretty sure I am going to like Blueberry better on it's own then in hybrids. I find most the BB hybrids I smoke loose the Head high part of Blueberry. They have great flavor and a good body high. I have yet to find one that has any intensity to it.

To tell the truth I wish D.J. Short had did Seven of Nine first. I really liked F-13 when I grew it. That was a long time ago though. It was my choice above Flo before no reason it wouldn't have been again. I have not had to buy any BB f-5 seeds LOL. I have been getting them when I order D.J.'s other stuff. I am really looking forward to growing it someday. Thing is these genetics are still great for stability. Something very much needed in today's market. Pretty sure that is why they crossed all the strains that came from hermies with it. They use it to breed out the hermies.

What I can't figure out is the lack of ambition D.J. and his son have. How can they continue to do the same shit without being bored to death. What is funny. "Why the hell does this bother me?"
 
GTH goes under the knife today. At least part of it. Trichomes are perfect on it now. I don't want this high to venture to the body side. I am just going to have to leave the branch that was pollinated. It still needs another week or 2. This plant kind of surprised me. It got ready sooner then I thought. Well within the flower times they posted though. 65 to 80 days gives you lots of wiggle room LMAO.

The second GTH has cloudy trichomes but still has a few white hairs. I am going to see how much longer I can take it. Things are starting to hit high gear. I figured I would get a few more pictures of the best GTH while I could. Here is a look at the whole plant.

This is why they call it Train Wreck! Plants are kind of a mess lol. Buds and branches going everywhere. This plant had to be bent and twisted because it was outgrowing everything else. Who said buds need to grow up LMAO. I can't even turn this cola picture to make it look better. Buds are nice and full but don't have the density of the other plant. The perfect GTH would be a cross of these 2. The best pheno would never last in a major grow. It won't produce enough. Now if all the smell and flavor from the best pheno was on the dense pheno that would be a winning plant. This might be why lots of the GTH I have bought seemed to sativaish. They picked the best producer not the strongest plant. Here is a look at her buds.

When you look at the plant it can be quite deceiving. All the trichomes are so small they are hard to see compared to some of my plants. What is in there is plenty strong. They may not be big but they make up for it with numbers and substance.

It is truly amazing how well the new drying chamber is working. Texture is a lot better. Plants are now drying in around 7 days instead of 3 to 4 like before. I am sure this will help the cure in the long run. Mostly it is the fact that the buds are not so dry they are brittle. I have never had problems with my weed before. It wasn't right though. I thought it would be harder to get the right conditions. I do need to adjust things through out the day to keep it perfect. Something most people can't do. If I had to I could at least keep things in the 45% range which would have been better. With the sativas I have I want to keep things more humid. My sativas were the bigger problem before with being too dry. The GTH I like the most is kind of airy. I don't want it drying very fast.

Everything else is finishing fast now. I might be doing 2 plants a day for a bit. Corona Virus hit right at harvest time. Could have timed that any better. Either way I would be stuck at home LOL.
 
Funny how my grow is becoming to much like the real world. I now have 2 patents in intensive care LMAO. Strawberry Lemonade went under the knife last night. Sorry for the shitty picture. All this plant wants to do is glow lol.

I cut back most the branches and trimmed them up. I left a lot of small buds on the lower branches. There was still a couple white hairs on those lower branches. It should regenerate. This strain was going from close to finishing to finished fast. I didn't want to risk this one dyeing. Here is how she looks now. ( another shitty picture LOL)

I sure hope this one regenerates. It will be the plant I reverse for pollen. I have tried a test bud from it a couple weeks back. It was strong and had great flavor then. As I was trimming the Strawberry came out in the smell. 2 extra weeks to pack on trichomes and terpenes did this plant lots of good. Bud and cola pictures came out a lot better.

All the trichomes make this plant really hard to photograph. Most the pictures just glowed LOL.

Some may notice the name change. This plant was great as a start. The time between adolescence and adulthood was very hard. It had lots of problems that I was solving. There were times I thought of killing it. I would have if I didn't have plenty of room for it. With help and care it turned into one of my best plants. My step daughter was just like that LMAO. I named the reveg plant and its hybrids after her. That is why it is called Alicia.
 
As I mentioned. Alicia will be the reversed plant. I have yet to even try the best Banana Sorbet I plan to reveg. It looks just like Alicia trichome wise. It doesn't take much to know it is going to be strong. I don't know about the flavors of it yet. Either way it won't matter. I hope to keep it around for a while. It has production and tons of trichomes. If I truly like it I can self it later. The BOO will be crossed then tossed. As much as I love the smell and flavor I don't like the high. More body then I wanted from it. The terpene profile should do wonderful in a hybrid.
