Random Thoughts: Plants & Genetics

[Jackalope]

The longer this grow goes on the more my thoughts are changing. Only 1 of the SSH plants is doing well enough I think it will regenerate well. It is the haze leaning pheno. I will still be saving 2 but I don't know how they will do.

Still I am not sure how much that matters. I have lots more SSH seeds. Next time I grow them I will be able to keep them healthier till the end. I also have STS on the way and plan to use it instead of CS for reversal. This gives me more hope for reversing feminized genetics. Plus the 3 best plants in this grow are not SSH. At least before the "High" is considered in. That can still change things. It is also why the last SSH is still being considered. It is showing me things I haven't seen with other plants or strains.

Now that I have plenty of seeds it is not worth working with anything but the best plants. Plants that stand above all the rest for one reason or the other. I am finding that in Banana Sorbet, BOO, and Strawberry Lemonade. My hybrids will be made from these 3 plants. Looks like I am going to still have 2 tents. I want to try and self that orange pheno of BOO. So it will be reversed mostly just for that. I will put a Strawberry Lemonade in there with it. I think the Banana Sorbet will over power the Orange terps. The Banana Sorbet is the best plant of them all. It is the main pollen I want to spread. It is the reason I will be saving the Haze leaning SSH plant. I hope to have it mother some seeds with the Banana Sorbet. I hope to put a BOO clone with the BS just in case. I don't know what will happen with the terpene profile. It could end up better than the S-1 BOO.

I forget that it took me over 20 years to finally grow SSH. It isn't the power house it once was. I still think it will be special. Just not exceptional. There are always going to be more great SSH hybrids coming. Not from me unless I find something that really impresses me. I may find I really love the high so much it will change my mind. No matter how well you can judge a plant. You can't pre-judge effects. When a plant has twice as may trichomes as all the others that they stand out. I have good SSH plants. I don't know if I see anything great though.

After all these years of growing. I might actually get to be a tester for someone. I am on Katsu's tester list. I don't know how things will work out as I can't do exactly what is needed. I was planning on trying his genetics this next run. I am hoping he gets me a strain to test when I start back up. He is looking for people to test and take pictures of his strains. You all know the picture taking got my attention LOL. We will have to wait and see. I would suggest going to his site and volunteering but he got 300 e-mails the first day on his first attempt at finding people LMAO.

Looks like I will be harvesting soon. Cataract Kush, Clown Royal and BOO are all day to day now. Test bud of BOO was small but effective. I am going to have to try and regenerate it. The taste was similar to the smell. That's with no curing. A lot of the orange rind came through in the flavor. It is strong like Tangie but different enough for me to really like this one. This one might just stay as a mother till I can figure out what to do with it. I have not decided if I want to run 2 seed tents yet. I may want to do a auto flower tent. If not I will self the BOO and put some clones in with it. I would then be using BOO and Banana Sorbet to pollinate Strawberry Lemonade and the Haze leaning SSH. I really don't know if there will be enough left to regenerate it. This plant did not fill in all the budding spots I trimmed off when I lolly popped it.

I will be trying a test bud of the great smelling GTH today. This pheno is a lot farther along then the other one. I think it will be ready soon. I found a seed in it which is great. Probably going to be more seeds in these plants then I want. Oh well I was planning on using the SSH male to make seeds with anyway LMAO. Plus 2 of the best smelling plants this grow are in that tent. I will have GTH, and BOO seeds. That helps me solve what to do with the BOO plant lol. I am sure the Clown Royal will have seeds too. Another great thing. That thing is full on G.G. smell.

Thanks Jack. She's looking really sticky. I've had bad luck with GG plants. I keep thinking clown royal would be a winner. I harvested a plant yesterday that was first one I've ever hand pollinated. I hit one whole lower branch. Must have been sloppy tho cause I have some bonus seeds on the next branch too. Really surprised me. I thought I was really careful. Lol

Those extra's have saved me a few times. I know they did with T-2. Now I have seeds in the best damn GTH plant I have ever smoked. That test bud yesterday was as good of weed as I have ever smoked. The fact that I got high 4 times off one joint makes it twice as good. Thing is. This is not the kind of weed that you don't smoke much of because it is strong. You smoke more because it is strong. I have more GTH seeds and seeds in the best plant. That should cover me. I can't regenerate everything. I also have a similar hybrid by Rare Dankness that uses Nevil's Wreck instead of Train Wreck. I need to decide before long. Might just regenerate the GTH just to see.

Dankman. Here are the last pictures of Clown Royal. She is starting to fall over now and should be ready any time. I think this is the best G.G. hybrid I have grown so far. All 3 were similar in growth patterns. This one will produce a lot more then the other 2 did. The bending brought the lower buds closer to the light and it seemed to help.

Frost is building up really building up now. This plant is pretty much ready. It will be trimmed sometime in the next week.

I didn't get a good male female ratio on mine. I only got 1 female out of 4 or 5 seeds. Not sure if I was just unlucky or not. Still I am happy with the strain so far. The other GG hybrids I grew were Gorilla Zkittlez and Glueberry. Like I said all plants grew the same. If you had troubles before they should show up again. Not sure if that will help you with them or not.

Looks like I will be trying to make a CBD brandy someday. I bit the bullet and got a still. I am not a drinker so I really don't need it. The idea just sounds too interesting. I don't have any objections to a nice brandy in the evening if I could get the effects I need. It has to be better than cake and cookies every night LOL. Mostly I want to see just how far marijuana can spread its wings. I only got a small set up and I am sure I will be throwing out a bunch of product along the way. Still it would be interesting to see how a Indica Moonshine would work as a sleep aid LMAO.

Thanks Jack for the pics. She's really sticky looking. All the GG's ive grown have hermed badly. One last year I pulled at week 6 it was covered in male sacks, but it was a bagseed from a friend who grows.
You mentioned Neville wreck, I'm trying to get some of those going right now. I soaked couple Dark shadow haze from Rare dankness. One cracked and is in soil waiting to see if it comes up. Other has not cracked.

That one does sound interesting Dankman.

I have to say I was a little off on Rare Dankness at first. A couple puffs off that GTH joint changed all that LOL. That is with one of the plants anyway. The other 1 does not have any smell right now. Buds are different and it is going to flower longer than the great pheno. It has harder golf ball type buds. Mostly the same growth pattern just lots of difference in density and smell of the buds.

Hey Dankman. I have been thinking about what you said about G.G. genetics. I had 2 of the Clown Royal drop balls fairly early. I just pulled them. I thought they all had showed sex by them. I ended up finding 2 more be males later on after I dropped the lights back.

I am wondering now if those 2 that showed early signs were just hermies. They still would have been pulled but I would have a different impression of these seeds. If I ended up with more males and hermie's then I did females that is a problem. If they were only males that is just a bad M/F ratio. I only remember that whole pods showed up almost fully formed before I saw them. That is kind of a sign of a hermie. Males don't normally form and grow pods that fast.

In the end I am giving up on Second Generation Genetics. After following him for a bit on IG I have determined he is just a spoiled little bitch.

On the Second Generation thing. Lots of us have had to learn how to grow and about the plants themselves. D.J.'s kid grew up in that world and should have already known what most of us had to teach ourselves. He was also surrounded with quality genetics. All he could come up with is hybrids using daddies genetics? That is just pathedic
