Random Thoughts: Plants & Genetics

I got final pics of Tangiloe last night. It is finishing up nicely. I have to say. Right now I like the T2 more than the Tangiloe. There is always the pheno type thing to consider. I only have 1 plant of each. Plus there is the little thing called effects. Looks don't mean shit. The only way to know for sure is to smoke them. Here is a look at the better pictures of Tangiloe

Well I decided to have Christmas buds no matter what LOL. While everything is getting really close. I still want to let most plants go through next week. There are a few that were plenty close to take a branch off a couple plants. Choccrit, Bubbliciuos, and Gorilla Widow will be joining me for Christmas.

Test bud of T2 yesterday was F**king great. JC 2 put a lot of flavor into it. As with the others it was only dried for 3 days and it still had flavor. The high was prominent but not so strong you couldn't do things. Concentrating too much can actually ruin the buzz LOL. This stuff will make the day better with out keeping you from doing anything that comes up.

All the starts are doing fine after the re-pot. A couple are starting to show signs that they need Cal/Mag. 2 had some burning on the leaves before I could get it to them. Nothing is even questionable as of now. The SSH is going to out grow everything in the tent really bad I have a feeling. I need to start figuring out how best to grow each one. I don't know if I can get a super crop pinch and a bend out of some of the shorter bushier plants in time. Most should do ok with just being super cropped. If I top them or bend them it will take too long for them to catch up to the SSH. The plan was the SSH will be sexed in 1 gallon pots then trans planted. Not sure if that is a good idea anymore. That could give me stretch twice. It has been a long time since I have sexed a plant then put it back into veg. I can always hope they show sex on their own before I need to decide.

I do know I am a month or so off on my timing. I was hoping to have the starts over 18" by the time the flower tent opened up. Not going to happen. I am going to have to veg them longer than planned now. No big deal. Better than having them too big and not being able to move them I guess LOL.

Good morning to you too Dankman. Hell I can't say what the flavor is LMAO. As of now I can't really put it into words. It is one of the flavors that are just appealing. No dankness to it at all. It really isn't pine and lemon like you would expect a strain that is called Cleaner. Once I get it dried and cured a bit I will be able to nail it down better.

Thing is it is nothing like Tangilope at all. No real orange or tangerine to it. As hard as it is to explain. I am pretty what is here is mostly caused by the JC 2.

As of now all the hybrids made with the JC 2 pollen have a whole new appeal. After screwing up last years grow when I had Genius going. I am glad I pollinated it. I never really got the great flavor it was supposed to have. As bad as it burned that is no surprise LMAO. It was plenty strong though. I really can't wait to try the hybrid of it and JC 2. Mystery Cleaner is one of the hybrids made last year. It is being grown out now which will give me a bit more info before next year when I start back up again. The Mystery Cleaner was the one hybrid I had most hope for before starting T2. I only grew it to compare to Tangiloe. So glad I did.

Damn my friend your girls are looking stellar!!! Sounds like everything is right around the end, that’s always one of my most nervous times lol. I’m one of those guys that says I’m gonna chop it this day, then look and let her go another then another sometimes for up to a week lmao!!
Man these MysteryCleaners are straight killing it!! I started with15 perfect little plants now I’m down to 10 lol. I’m planning on keeping atleast 1 of each pheno to flower out and find my keeper. They still haven’t shown any signs of sex yet so the anxiety is real haha. Here’s a few pics of 3 different phenos so far.

Hope everyone has an amazing Christmas with all your loved ones!!!!

Looking good Orlando. The short fat leaves pheno's are the one's that look most like Mystery Plant. Both parents had a pretty good open structure once I super cropped them. JC 2 has a bit more stretch than Mystery Plant but neither strain stretched very much. As far as I remember neither strain was finicky in any way. Production was also pretty good from the Mystery Plant even with the questionable care it got at the end. Even being overfed it had good flavor. It burned horribly so I know there was flushing issues. Flushed well it should have great flavor.

That is about all I can give you. I really don't have a clue what is coming your way LMAO.

I watered the small Bubblicious from the led tent for the last time yesterday. It will be moved to total darkness tonight to be trimmed on the 27th. All the trichomes are cloudy to mostly cloudy. I don't do the amber thing much. Thing is there is very little clear to them. If not for the holidays I would be trimming it tonight.

While it is nice knowing that my weed should burn great. I may have left a little production on the table. Not much I am sure as everything is swelling up pretty damn good. Plants have a lot more yellow to them than normal. I could have went another week or 2 feeding with some strains. I am staying with the new feeding schedule. Other than the soil difference's that is. Supplements will be teas but with the same basic N-P-K ratings as the M.G. I was using before.

Another tentative plan is to maybe use my minnow water for the plants. Every winter I always hold a few dozen minnows so I can fish when I want. I need to change water on them regularly. I have been thinking of transferring the water from the minnow tank to the holding tank for plant water. I refill plant water most every day. I only change the minnow water once a week. The minnow water will be diluted by fresh most the time. I know I have heard about similar things in growing. I read a article on Guppy Gardening once. The person was using the water from their guppy tanks to feed the plants. For some reason I think it was DJ Short. I need to see if I can find the article again though it has been at least 20 years since I read it.

And now it begins. I will be putting the small Bubblicious into the dark for a couple days to finish up. Gorilla Widow and Blueberry Headband will be right behind it. By the end of next week all strains will be at or around suggested harvest time. From the looks of it most are on schedule.

One thing I have noticed different this grow from last. Trichomes are clouding over like I would expect them too. Because of the extra nutrients last years they never want to cloud over. That has all changed this time. I can track them cloud over on most plants.

The only major difference is from the Peyote Critical. All the hairs turned red and this plant looked finished weeks ago. Trichomes are not clouding up like you would expect on 2 of these. I am going to give them a little more time but I don't know if they will cloud over to my liking. It has been over 3 weeks since I tried a bud of it. It was strong then just unfinished. I expect them to be fine by now one way or the other. The really indica pheno is looking to finish up next week. There is still a chance the other 2 will follow.

I have spent the last week smoking a little of the Choccrit, Gorilla Widow, Bubblicious. They all smoke really well which is nice LOL. Highs are kind of what I expected. The bushy Choccrit has a little more body to the high than the tall one did. Gorilla Widow has decent flavor and a good all around high. Bubblicious has some flavor and a good indica buzz. It does not really get you higher at bed time but it does help me sleep. That is enough.

I really can't wait to see how some of these finish up. Liberty Haze, Blueberry Headband, and the 2 Tangilope hybrids are going to be a total mystery when I harvest them. The transition between growing and smoking is always such a fun time. I have a idea of where everything is going to land smoke wise. I am always surprised every year. A strain I thought would do one thing ends up doing another totally great.

Today I plan to take some time and go fishing. First trip after big lake trout this year. It is also to a lake that I catch nothing 80% of the time. One can always hope LMAO.

That gave me a thought. They say a person should never loose hope. I am totally set there. Every time I go fishing I hope to catch fish. I will always have HOPE LMAO.

Good luck man, hope you catch a monster!!!

Hey everyone happy holidays.
Jack I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again this journal for myself is one of the best. I quit getting notifications over here every time and after just reading back from November I’m all caught up.
Still I have nothing to add as I know nothing about breeding but I love the vast amounts stain info you put out in great detail.
Great work peeps on keeping this journal going and taking the time breed properly as it can only benefit us all.
I know a few people I honestly don’t even think they know what stains they r growing lol.
Thx everyone enjoy

Thanks a lot KCCO. That means a lot. To tell the truth I wasn't sure If I wanted to keep it. I kind of beat the breeding thing to death sometimes. I thought it was chancing more people away then it attracted. The fact that people are reading is all that matters.

I pretty much get the most of the Random Thoughts thing LOL. It is not like I make it up. All this stuff runs through my mind all the time. I mean ALL the time. That probably means I need a life LMAO. Whats really funny is this is the life I love.

I guess I am just going to stay hear and ramble. It helps clear my mind for more Random stuff LMAO.

I am having hell with a few of the starts. Everything is growing fine for the most part. It is the watering that seems to be the problem. Probably my fault. The only thing I can think of is I screwed up the perlite/vermiculite mix. When the plant seems fully watered they are still droopy. It is only with a few plants but it is driving me nuts. My best guess is all the roots are at the bottom of the pot and sucking up all the moister before the upper part has a chance to dry. Or there is dry spots in the soil. I have been playing with this for over a week and still don't have it figured out.

I do know that I plan to mix in a lot more soil to the mix I made. Fox Farm isn't broke I better quit trying to fix it.

Other than that all is good. Bubblicious and Gorilla Widow go under the knife today.
