Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Dog

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Does anyone know how US 6 is, east out of Yosemite? It goes to Ely, NV where you can pick up US 93 north into Twin Falls, ID.

That looks like a full day's drive from Yosemite to Yellowstone, through some genuine wide-open American spaces.

Napa Valley to Yosemite to Yellowstone ... nice! Or do the wine country after the wild country - fun stuff to talk about while enjoying great herb and vino.

[Edit] It looks like you could catch Reno and Tahoe, too, if you use I-80 for one of the legs. Lake Tahoe is worth spending a night if you can manage it. :cheesygrinsmiley:

[Nother edit] I've put on 250,000 miles driving across this country. Love it!! Just the wife and me, cruisin' down the highway, her bare feet up on the dashboard, music playing, the countryside flowing along beside us, plenty of smoke, good conversation, interesting people and places ... there's nothing else like it. It's an astounding thing to drive 1000 miles in a day with total freedom. :Namaste:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

You could get a good "sample" of Yosemite in a couple of days.
A lot depends on how much you like to hike and your conditioning. For example, a hike from the valley floor to the top of any of the major sights (Half Dome, Cloud's Rest, El Capitan, are pretty much a full day trip. The hike up to Half Dome is worth the price of admission alone. You can pass Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls - both have swimming spots, and on up to the saddle cables and the peak. The view from there is amazing - nearly 1 mile straight down with all the surrounding peaks in view. I prefer coming down the Mist Trail but you can take it in both directions, if you prefer. These are pretty tough hikes - about 14km (one way) with 1.5km of elevation gain. I'd allow 12 hours unless you are an avid hiker.

Swimming depends on the water level. August is usually great. Other times it is too dangerous. There is often a swimming hole at the top of Vernal Falls with smooth rocks you can slide down into the pool. On the other hand, I've personally help pull a drowning victim out of that area.

Hmm sometimes too much is too much. I was on a border of exhaustion last season with trimming and I do everything myself  Plants can definitely get big, I got 13 foot Cotton Candy once which I had to watch from below  But it's not about the size but about the quality. Smaller plants with less tendencies to stretch will use the soil in a more balanced way they will also need less, so less work for sure. I decided to grow too much OG genetics this year and I keep paying for it  I'm drifting here, but you can get better quality smoke putting them outside so late. Better dispersion of sugars makes for much better bud. I believe SCROG is the best method for keeping everything even both outdoor and indoor.

Yeah these spaces really have an appeal for me. You also have very wide roads in comparison with European and every car has AT, which is cool. And yeah I'll be picking some herb in the road. While off LA I'll be visiting my good buddy from this forum not far away from there, and now it seems there's gonna be more opportunities to hang out with our kind of people and taste the finest produce while on the road  :tokin:

If there are trails that's perfect. I hike regularly you know why anyway  Few miles is nothing for me, but some more on holiday is fine too, especially if there's a nice hot spring waiting at the end of the road :tokin: I'm used to swimming in lakes and the sea basically and I love to trailblaze too :tokin: Which trail would you recommend, Major? What landscape is that? Hills and valleys with a lot of pineforest? :passitleft:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

If I could only do one hike in Yosemite, I'd go to Half Dome: Start at the trial head (or Curry Campground) on the valley floor. Take the trail to Vernal Falls, then continue on to Nevada Fall via either the Mist Trail (more scenic, shorter, steeper) or the Muir Trail (less steep but about 1 mile longer). Stop for swims along the way. Continue up to Half Dome. Unless your legs are giving out, I'd definitely return by the Mist Trail. You will appreciate the shower.

The scenery is...picturesque, grand, majestic. Valleys, yes. Hills, not so much. These are steep, sheer mountains. Some of the largest pieces of exfoliating granite on earth, carved by glaciers. Lots of pines and other trees (and bears). You should check to see what permits might be needed.

To keep the Mod's from spanking me, check THIS out for a tiny example.

But hey if you think you will make it way up north, Portland Oregon area, give me a yell, hell the heater's on in the pool, and the grass is green. But I agree, if you are going up north from LA area, you got to stop and see Yosemite. Yea is crowded for sure, you even need a reservation for a campsite, but it's still the prettiest place on earth. Waters alittle cold there but what you expect from water right outta the mountains.

Fantastic pics, Major. We started looking for a place there. I think the most reasonable pricewise are motels with around 40 min drive to the park. We need to get our friends onboard now. :thumb:

Yes these reservations... and $1000 for 2 days for 4 people, but we're looking cause it seems there are many more options to stay around and with a car that shouldn't be a problem :thumb: We're going through Death Valley then Yellowstone and then Yosemite, and then to SF and Sonoma. We found some very scenic highways :surf:

If you're passing through Death Valley be sure to visit a tourist attraction called Scotty's Castle which you can google if wanting and see all the cool architecture and custom woodworking. It's one awesome site to see in person & they serve dinner there also, or they did back when I was a kid.

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Terrible weather keeps coming to NorItal due to low pressure fronts from Atlantic. They say it might drag for another week or two... or in a worst case destroy the summer exactly like it happened two years ago when it stopped raining in the last week of August :surrender:

After I took the pics heavy rainstorm has started with about half an hour of hail, and while I'm writing these words hail has stopped, but it's still raining. What it means is I'm gonna have to inspect plants more frequently for the possible damage, which I hope will be minimal. They are strong and I had my plants go through hail before without missing a beat. Temps are in the low to mid 80s fortunately, and it's sunny for most of the day which definitely helps to evaporate water. But on a more positive note we're not in the worst shit, did you see what's happening in France?

Ok enough rambling, here are the gals.

Super Lemon Haze, which I've topped again to even out the canopy. She's reacting extremely well for topping.

Here's Ultra Dog next to SLH, another confirmed female. This is the bushy pheno.

These are two more UD females growing in the same row, confirmed today. These lean more towards OG silhouette.

Here's the hazey pheno of Ghost Train Haze, she's actually got better. I topped her multiple times, and she seems like she's finally warming to the place.

Purple or OG pheno of Ghost Train Haze, just two long stems basically with few fan leaves. I topped her again.

More UDs here, one confirmed female in the middle. The last one is this nice indica pheno that took after NYCD, but it might be a male. There are very female resembling males in this line, so you don't know until you actually see pre-flowers.

This is a stretchy and bushy pheno of UD that grows next to OGs. Here you can really see how Chemdawg '91 genes influenced this cross. By the way I just took a Brix reading of her, and she's crossing over 15, so here's a proof that pushing lithothamnium in veg can really make things better, I mean in two weeks for sure :high-five:

Well, in spite of the crappy weather, they all look great!
Good luck with the hail and heavy rain. Here's hoping no damage is done. :thedoubletake:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Hey Conradino!

What does one look out for that suggests a male plant before it starts showing male bits? I've read a few people saying a plant looked male, but I can never see what they can see.....

I looked it up, you won't believe it man, it got flooded last year and it's being closed: Scotty's Castle - Death Valley National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

I'm gonna check tomorrow, but let's stay positive.

Those colors.....absolutely gorgeous to my eye

Thx a lot man.

You're looking for unusual stretching and lack of branching, but I've had males that were more branchy than females, so that leaves stretching, but you have to have females from the same line growing side by side to see the difference.

It doesn't sound as though you will get far enough north to hit Oregon on your way from Cali to points east. If you do, I'd be happy to hook you up with some herb for the remainder of your trip.

Major and NCW for that matter, that is really super cool of you to invite me over, but we just went through our itinerary and we'll have to finish our way north in Sonoma/Napa, cause otherwise we won't be able to get back to LA for our flight. I hope it's not gonna be my last trip to your side of the pond, so maybe I'll be able to visit Oregon another time :thumb:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Looking awesome Conrad! Congrats on the brix numbers. I still cant find any source for bulk Red Algae. Even checked the UK-Ebay lol! I'm using Calcium Carbonate powder 98% from Lime Stone and it's working great but I'm sure the Red Algae is bringing much more to the table than just calcium.

My favorite plant is the bushy UD. I'm very impressed with the SLH too. Looking great with the topping. Keep em green Conrad!

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Hmmm maybe you could try Italian Amazon, it's therefor sure. Lithothamnium became my most important soil additive very quickly, and yeah it's got much more than Ca, perfect Mg content and a lot of trace minerals.

My UDs don't fail me this time around, I'd be happy to see that flowering time got shorter, but we'll see about that.

Side by side with my normal Female I saw buds starting to form on the nice big plant while the other one stayed all small and shitty looking.

Hey Conradino!

I just wanted to show you a little something that I am proud of. You inspired me to start a little early and now I have this monster in my yard. Also 420 magazine and everyone that posts has been incredibly helpful and I thank you. My entire garden is as green as can be.

My buddy is only 5 foot 2 inches, and the plant is probably close to 7 foot! She is from World of Seeds "Wild Thailand"

:love::love::love::thanks:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Hey lazyfish, nice plant. Maybe you should top her before she starts stretching.

By the way, hail has done very minimal damage to the foliage, but it's nothing I should worry about. I plucked some fan leaves and that's it. More females confirmed aming the UDs too, it seems that I might just end up with a male or two or none if I'm really lucky :thumb:
