Radogast's First Indoor Seed Grow - In Search of Mothers

MEET THE GIRLS: Quiffa

Quiffa is a mostly natural 21x21 free growing Carmelicious topped once.
I am planning to train her arms, but it's planting time for non-420 gardening. I'll get to it soon.

I just noticed your SIG. Are u vegging under 14on 10 off light cycle?

Since my wife is the one with the doctor authorization, she is legally the Master Gardener, while I assist with all the construction decisions, and all the heavy lifting, and most of the daily care. By law she is in charge.:loopy::loopy:

So far, her decisions have been which seeds to buy (neither of us knew enough to just buy feminized,) and first veg at 14/10.
According to her read of Jorge Cervantes Medical Marijuana Grower's Bible, 14/10 is more likely to produce females than males.
I think it slows down the grow!

Right now, I'm on 12/12 until I am 99% sure of the sex of all 7 plants.
Once we get them sexed, I'm going to 18/6 to bulk up the roots and branches before a 12/12 flip and flower.

I plan to set aside a clone from the highest yielders in each strain as mothers and process the remaining clones to flip and flower as space becomes available.
I'm hoping to be perpetual by fall and growing out the remaining skunk and bag seeds one or two at a time.
Which seeds is up to the Master Gardener:bongrip::)

I'll probably have some (unsexed) Carmelicious and White Widow beans to give away. Again, up to the Master Gardener :)

Sorry, I over answered the question. It's not like I obsess much, is it :)

Hey Radogast,

You've got things rolling right along. Nice job! ;)

Thanks techyghost and obiwan :)

The master gardener has suggested we hang them from the trees as deer food.
:rip::rip::rip::sorry:

I'm not sure I want to train deer to eat an outdoor grow.

When I went to sort out the boy clones from the girl clones, I discovered I had placed all the girls together in one six-pack and the boy clones in the other.
I should learn to respect my intuition more :slide::slide::slide:

...I haven't decided how to dispose of the bodies. The top options are:

Sink 'em in the swamp (The Jersey method)
Bury them in the land bridge construction site (another classic mobster choice)
Toss them in the compost (no respect, they get no respect)
Bag 'em and trash 'em (my recycling father's ashes are getting restless,)

It's not a serious decision as much as a philosophical statement :)

Love it!

I was recently contemplating this as well. Right now my rough plan is to make ice hash with the trim, leaves and stems. Then dry the washed working material and run it through a QWISO or some other kind of soaking/evaporative concentrate process to see if there is anything left after the ice hash process.

The main stalk and branches will probably meet one of two possible ends

  • The DEXTER: a long handled lopper/pruner to chop the remains into little bits. Bits placed into [paper] bags and made to disappear forever.
  • The backyard fire pit: an evening of reflection and a fitting cremation.

Cheers!

Ah OK cool man. I'll have to read up on 14-10 I've never head of it and I love saving power lol.

Just so ya know in case ya don't. Inducing flower then reverting back to veg takes a long time. Sometimes a month before you see new growth. Also I've been told it can Hermie the plant, I've revegged before without the plants ever going hermie.

A suggestion for next time you go from seed, veg the plant till its big enough to take a cutting. Put the cutting end in a glass of water and under 12/12 light. The cutting will show sex in a week or 2. Then you can continue vegging if its female, or chop if a male. And not have that month of waiting form the plant to revert.

Just a suggestion is all. Little things I wish I knew a year ago.

I had read that here, but then this grower with 35 years experience takes me aside for a private conversation. He set me up with 6.0-7.6 ph test strips. He encouraged me to hold off on flower until my flowering room floor would be full (what's one more month.) His daughter walks around with 10+ grams of what everyone rates as medical grade ak47 left over from a 6 plant grow in October. He says he'll come visit in trimming day and bring me clones.

SWEET!

So when he says "Flower out the plants and get mothers from clones" ... I'm not pissing into the wind.
I'll do it his way :)
