Radogast's First Indoor Seed Grow - In Search of Mothers

Only 2 types people grow male plants. Noobs and breeders lol. Harvesting some pollen is a good idea. I'd love to have some male pollen to try breeding with.

Yes when I was 14 I grew a male pot plant thinking it would get me high lol. I thought all weed had seed in it. Just like all flowers do.

To Flower or not to Flower, that is the question.

The answer is made as little easier by knowing that a 5 gal bucket will soon be too small.

Denise is going into flower. If I let her get any bigger, I'm just going to be fighting foliage and stretch. With a small amount of opening get out, she is a nice shape to grow some buds. Denise goes under 12/12. I'll take some more clones tomorrow and trim off her lower stems.

Bellatrix seems like she can put on some weight and spread out under a scrog.

I'll see if I can pick up a Smart Pot on Saturday.
The local hydro store usually has 10 gallon, 20 gallon and 100 gallon :)
Sometimes they have a 12 or 15 gallon pot.

I am planning on a 3'x2' scrog. Anything larger and I don't get through the flowering room door.
Should I go for the 10 gallon or the 20 gallon size?

I tossed out 3 out of 4 of the boys. I'm still hoping against hope the last one turns out girly.

The right half of my flowering room holds Denise (White Widow) and Quiffa (Carmelicious.)
I'm going to flower these two in the basic shape they are.
I haven't yet decided how close they should get to the 600W HPS.

The roots on the boys I chopped look like they had enough space to grow more.
My theory is that my girls roots look similar, so they can finish (8 weeks?) in the 5 gallon pots.

Please call me a fool of a Took off you think I'm wrong :)

Bellatrix (White Widow) went under the nearest scrog looking object.
I like the way the scrog holds leaves close to the light.

Last night, restrained by individual wires, she crisped some leaves stretching into the light.
I'll check in the morning and see if she forced herself up through the wire shelf.

The clones dried out a bit more than I would like on Wednesday night.
Fingers crossed the rootlets didn't dry.

I love the makeshift scrog!..

I desperately need to make a scrog for my Sativa's in particular. In the two-ish days they have been under 12/12 they have stretched almost 4"! They're going to hit the to of the grow cab in a week haha! They're starting to produce a lovely aroma as well!

I have a bunch of 18x24" stretcher bars for canvas (artistic painting.) I was planning on making a few 24x24" scrogs.
My girls are all at least 25" inches in diameter without a scrog, so that didn't seem like it would help much.

I have 3-4' more I can raise the flowering lights. I'm hoping that will be enough for the two girls going into flower.

:bravo:
Congrats on the aroma. My boy plants were stronger smelling than the girls, so the fragrance in my room is now subdued.

Well soon those ladies will smell intoxicating! I got My eye on your widow in flower. You had a couple weeks veg on my widows so it will be good to see how they mature before mine do :)

A good news bad news day.

Good news, the "boy" I couldn't-de on is a girl, so out of the seven, four girls and three boys!
Status is now two Carmelicious and one White Widow in 12/12 and starting on bloom nutes.
One more White Widow in 18/6 veg under a scrog.
15 Clones making roots.

Bad news I left my clones under the 12/12 lights for 6 days so they started making pre-flowers.
This will show the clones down for a few days.

:thumb:Hey looking good buddy Just a thought tho if you bored and still had that male root stock you could try grafting a female bit of bush to it from what ive read the femal stays a ladie and any new boy growth happens from under the graft ive got a separate area and will be trying the experiment as well if any of my new stock come back boys lol

Hey Radogast, all is looking great. Happy to hear you got more girls than boys. Your girls all look very healthy and green, Great Job!

Interesting idea. I have two still potted root balls with 2 inch stumps.
There might be a problem grafting a branch into a main trunk the size of my thumb.
I think I need to send some time researching.

Thanks for all the nice words and suggestions.

I sat down with paper and pen and drew up a timeline to see how I can share space in the veg area and the flowering area for a perpetual grow. I was hoping to plant some more beans soon, but with the three First Girls(one WW and two CAR) in flower for 8-9 weeks, the scrog WW joining the flowering room, the clones replacing the First Girls, I don't be able to start seeds before June (when the scrog WW goes in.)

It would be very easy to get an overwhelming number of plants at different maturities spreading everywhere, like happened with my non-420 gardening this winter. My current plan is to grow two batches at a time, starting a new batch of seeds when I do final flush before harvest, or a new batch of clones at harvest. This assumes a seedling plus veg time the same as flowering time.

After waiting so long to get to my First Girls into flowering, having to plan a queue to enter the flowering room is a great problem to have :)

Hey i found this for a grafting Adventure lol :peace:

First Attempt At Grafting Marijuana

Nice thread:nicethread::thankyou:

I'm currently on:
My first hardwood cuttings from winter (5 for 19 so far)
My first cannabis grow
My first herbaceous clones (cannabis)
My first indoor non-420 garden seeding indoors (almost all planted outdoors)
My first swamp to pond conversion (trying to kill mosquitos)
My first Northeastern garden build (lots of news plants and vegetables)
My first birdhouses (wren, Bluebird, bat, wood duck - 4 of 12 but spring is not over)
:rofl::laughtwo::wood::hmmm::goof::scratchinghead::yikes:

I might try cannabis grafting
But it's queued behind,
Tree swing,
Tire swing,
Bench to glider conversion,
Chainsaw furniture,
Planet boxes,
More flowers,
Moving a Catalpa tree,
Creating a waterfall,
More vegetables,
Hugelkultur the front yard,
Move the stairs on the wood deck,
Dig out the boulder (more of a ledge really),
To a tree for a martin house,
Fountain the other swamp,
Solar dehydrator,
Outdoor cannabis grow
. . .
Grafting seems more like a winter project LOL LOL

Did you save any pollen from the dudes? Try your hand at breeding. Save cash on seeds!!!

I plan to save lots of cash on clones!!!

The mothers can clone a new mother and be flowered out. This can go on (theoretically) for the rest of my life:)
I also have two locals who have suggested clone swaps :)

The two reasons I can justify to buy seeds are:
To purchase a new and genetically superior strain created by the effort of others (420 art)
For autoflower, (growing in a single room?) (Outdoors?)
