Radogast's First Indoor Seed Grow - In Search of Mothers

Watering day

I waited until Quiffa (Carmelicious on right) was in her second day of drooping leaves.
Denise (White Widow on left) was on her first day of drooping.

Both drank 4 liters of nutes water + 2 liters of plain water with about 1/2 liter draining from bottom.
I think it was only 5 days since last water
Day 12 under 12/12, 62 days total.

I bent over Denise's leader as it was 8/10 inches above the rest of the canopy.
600w HPS are about 14 inches above canopy.

Should I release the leader and let it tower above the other flowering spots ??

Sassy(Carmelicious), the suspected boy who finally went girly, is a little of schedule.
I had tossed away her clones so I was going to trim lower leaves and take more clones, however

I backed in to one of the larger branches of the 4-way fimmed top and you're out mostly off.
It was a strong branch, but I was stronger (like bull in China shop.)
I used a staple gun and 3 staples to splint the break.

Sassy(car) and her broken arm.

You could make some good size clones off that for sure (if it doesn't heal) It should heal, these plants are strong I've never seen a staple method before so I'm taking notes. I seen some people use root solution on the open area then tape it up tight. It looks like you closed her up very good.

Bellatrix (White Widow) and the clones

Bellatrix is 39 days in veg, 62 days since sprouting, and due for trim, defoliate, and node squeezing.
Once she fills the scrog, I'll separate her from the rack and put her in the flowering room with her 3 sisters.

Outdoor (Flowering Room) temps at the canopy were up to 81° degrees the past two days since I turned on the second 600W HPS.
My fan controller thermostat for the room is separated from the temp/humidity display, so I dialed down the fan controller thermostat.
The Indoor (basement veg area) in the 60s is also the ambient air intake for the flowering room, so the temp should come down :)

:peace:

The Clones are 15 days from cutting.
I was sexing the girls when I trimmed cuttings so they have to grow roots AND revert to veg at the same time.
Each of 3 plants have one rockwool clone showing roots.

I plan to pick up new soil (Dr. Earth) tomorrow. I'd like to find some 3 gallon pots for the clones, but if not I'll start them in 1/2 gallon.
I'm not really sure when there are enough roots showing to signal planting time. I image within the week.

A longer night with the girls than I expected :icon_roll

:thankyou::thankyou::thankyou:
I just went back with Clonex rooting gel and a small glue brush and stuffed and painted the split.

The staple gun was either inspired or more stress when the girl didn't need it.
3 staples made a solid feeling repair :cheesygrinsmiley:

White Widow "Denise" showing some major leaf spots.
I diagnosed this as probable manganese deficiency due to lockout from 6.8ph water.
I added a couple of handfuls of Dr. EARTH Organic Cannabis Potting Soil for the micro-nutrient and myccorhizae.
Then watered with 3 liters of 6.3ph water.

POTTING THE CLONES !!

To me this is a big deal. :high-five::yahoo:
As suggested by the subtitle of this grow log, In Search of Mothers, my goal has been to assist seeds to grow into art least two mother plants.
The future mothers of the perpetual grow are now in soil :)

Based on the performance of their mothers, clones will be selected to carry on the White Widow and Carmelicious lineages as mothers, the rest go on to flowering and make buds :)

15 of 15 clones grew roots. 3 of them were runts. They fell behind in the sense that they showed roots last, their fan leaves dried up and their newborn leaves shouted no growth. I culled the runts and gave them an outdoor burial.

Repotting from rock wool to 1/2 gallon Dr. Earth soil.

9 Clones in pots.

20140525_214240.jpg

I stopped at 9 Clones, because I am at a decision point.
3 clones per each of 4 plants (Sassy clones are 2 weeks late.) Equals 12-2 mothers=10 clones headed for flower. :green_heart:
Assuming a short veg, I could fit 10 clones in one or two gallon pots into the 4x8' flowering room.
But it can't be a real short veg since I am in the first week of flower with my initial seeds.

My flowering room is booked to capacity! And this ignores Bellatrix under her scrog who will need 1/3 of the flowering room for a few weeks sometime in the future. It's not a BAD problem, but it's a problem.

Besides what Light Addict refers to as Fluxing, which I want to try, what else can be tried that allows a veg time of 3-4 months without growing into monster bushes before flowering time??

Thanks for listening,
Radogast

Dr. Earth potting soil.

Although the word Cannabis or equivalent does not appear on the bag. The bag does come with a 12 week nutrient schedule and advises a two week flush at the end to produce quality flowers. Dr. Earth is highly recommended by a local outdoor gardener who has used it for many seasons.
Speaking of outdoor gardening, any of you are invited to click on my non-420 gardening thread in my signature.

SASSY (Carmelicious) who was suspected of being a boy and than stapled when I mostly snapped off a branch
She has a lot of yellow leaves, but she has healthy flowers and her surgery is healing nicely.

Bellatrix(White Widow) was under a scrog, but I moved her to the flowering room early. I need the future space. :)

Quiffa (Carmelicious) she never responded to training except for an initial top/fim.

And finally Denise (White Widow) the star of my early flowering.
