Radogast's First Indoor Seed Grow - In Search of Mothers

Seeing your canpoy makes me think just Scrog it

Understood Calyx :)

I assembled my materials to build a scrog, but then I ran into:
A) Before I bent them down, I was looking at much greater difference in height
B) I'm going to pick 2 and try to flower them before the others. This is mostly because this is my first grow, and I would like to go through the bud, dry, cure, trim steps with a smaller batch so that I can experiment and learn with less than the full harvest/less than the full work.
C) There is an unknown mix of boys and girls so I don't want to untangle a Hermie scrog.
D) Cloning will be easier with individual plants, especially if I need to reclone.

:Namaste:

I'm pretty sure a scrog is in my future.

Thanks for caring and commenting.

My broccoli got HUGE last year!

Your plants are looking great :)

I repotted 3 broccoli and planted 6. If the frost gods attack my little bit of heaven in the woods, I've 3 plants in reserve. If not, the garden club has a plant sale at the end of the month, and I'll donate them :)

New to indoor gardening in all its forms, trying to figure it out :)

Your cloning job looks pro. Nice start. I'll be waiting with you to see when they root!

Did you do anything special (other than gel and nutes) to prepare/encourage the cuttings to root? Scoring, slicing etc.? I've never tried cloning but to me it looks like you've already got it figured out.

Here's to many more successes!

Thanks for the inquiry and the kind words, Obi

For 2 of 7 mother plants, I did scoring and 3/8" cuts at the base.
For 1 of 7, I did just scoring.
I fimmed a couple of them, but mostly was too chicken to remove the tips, even though I should, but I removed tips on about 1/4 of them.

I Think I should be using the heating pad, but I had bad luck with starting 420 beansand vegetable beans, so I'm going to try without it.

This would normally be too early for clones(recommended 2 months old,) but I am in a hurry to sex these plants.
Once I have viable clones on 2 plants I'm going to put those two under 12/12 for flowering.

I needed a small harvest to practice the trim, dry, cure supplies and techniques.
:)

Fingers crossed here. I've cloned some Japanese Willow and evergreen branches, but still not confident.

Those clones look healthy!! Great job Rado. Did you take the clones from a Female mother, or are you unsure if they are males or females?

Cannabis 1,
We reefer to all the plants as mothers and girls.(call it the power of suggestion.) 7 parents, 4 White Widow, 3 Carmelicious

All clones are of unknown sex, which is good. State law limits my possession to 10.5 ounces of "useable material."

They look good in the photo because they are freshly trimmed :)
Not counting my chickens yet:wood::geek:

:goodjob: looking good dont forget you can use pipe cleaners to bend down with as well i used them when i could'nt find any more wire lol:peace:

So you noticed I was down to my last wire :)
:bravo:

Since I disassembled Romex that was 2 strand plus copper ground, one of my "girls" is restrained with copper wire and zip ties.
I like the McGyver look :)
Gonna have a little chat with the wife about zip ties instead of the usual 8mm hemp rope - I'm thinking she'll be real careful about wiggling with a zip tie diameter cuff. Then again, I do like to watch her when she really yanks her wrists.
For those offended, sorry. It's our anniversary tonight:loopy::partyboy::surrender:

I like your room setup Wish i had space for that in my apartment.. Will have to kick the roommate out and use her bedroom haha..

Thanks for stopping by my journal. I'm gonna follow this onrt..

The best thing I found out for lst is floral wire that you can buy at walmart for a couple dollars in the arts ant crafts section with the fake flowers. Here is the description.

Floral wires are used to lengthen and support stems. You can use paddle wire for hanging wreaths by shaping it into loops. It is perfect for securing floral material to wreaths and forms.

Thanks, GS.

I'm going to scratch my head and think on this.
So far I was using 14 gauge electrical insulated wire.

I've used 26 gauge floral wire in the past, but I was enjoying the much greater stiffness of the 14 gauge.
With the electrical wire, I am able to move and hold branches 2 inches in every direction from the natural "home" position of the wire.
Using extra wire I've been able to curve the branch tips in gentle arcs. It's very sculptural.

Outside I am using some sculptural aluminium armature wire to guide my holly bushes into an arch over the front steps.

I guess I enjoy applying stiffer restraints.

Now the wife is getting it, I just remembered I have some soft 3/4" rope to bind her wrists.
(Safe, sane and deliciously consentual. Nothing she doesn't find thrilling :loopy: )
