Quix's SSH from Clone - Chocolate NL Re-Veg & Other Fun Strains Coming Soon!

Hey Quix
I had those nasty ass gnats ............They do no harm to the plants but those little bastards fly everywhere. The knowledgable people at my hydro store sold me diatomaceous (St Gabriel Organics) , You mix a little bit in the top of your soil mix and this stuff acts like glass, cutting those little bastards in half . I don't think that it is toxic because it comes from an organic supplier but you can use it in your pets bed for fleas also. It worked real good for me. I'm not a chemist but would be interested in input from others :goodluck:

Hey Quix.

I use:

Hey guys thanks for all the great info. I'm aware of the products you guys mentioned, and I appreciate all the help. Here's the thing, though....I just dont want the fight. Yes, eff a gnat, but I'm walking away from this one, just got too many other things to stress about.
So what I did is simply remove the CJ widow plant completely. I gave that, along with a beautiful SSH plant, and a NL clone to my buddy. I then chopped the Durban Poison and other CJ widow clone, and re-cloned them in new sterile soil. I used rock wool to hold them up. I'm a little concerned that its going to take too long for them to root and start new growth, though, and will give them 2-3 weeks to show me that they're motivated.
Meanwhile, I chopped a good 4 or 5 nodes off the top of my SSH girl, in an attempt to even out the canopy. I may even tie the upper branches down to the level of the lower branches....

Heres the sad little Durban Poison....

She looks a little better today, so we'll see how it turns out. I just really don't have the patients for the gnats, and I'm sure my wife doesn't either. Hope all you guys are well....

Hi Quix!

Live to fight another day, eh? Well, glad you at least kicked their arses out! ;)

Durban Poison doesn't look too sad in that picture... Oh, and thanks for the +rep and kind words - you rock brotha! :)

I have to agree with Xlr8, that DP doesn't look sad. I don't blame you for not wanting to fight the gnats.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

Hey HMG thanks a bunch my friend! Yeah, I guess she doesn't look all that bad. She looks exactly the same today as in that last pic. She and the CJ widow clone are going to be a while getting their legs, but it'll give me some time to tie n train some uppers on the SSH, which I'm starting to realize is going to make for one hell of a canopy, so thats cool.
Sorry to hear about your plants buddy, but dont get discouraged. You'll get it figured out sooner than later. Not to knock the nutes, but do you think they had anything to do with the lockout you experienced, or maybe PH?
Anyway thanks again for the kind words and hope to see you making progress soon!:Namaste:

Hey X no problem. Those reps are well deserved:bravo:
Thanks for the kind words too. The DP is actually looking fine, she just has that post-transplant droop ya know? But she has the most amazing smell, and I cant wait to see her in all her glory. I believe that she'll be the one I pollinate. The SSH is already 25% NL, and I dont want to create something so close to a strain I already have. So NLxDP will be my first creation. I'd also like a good Sativa, which DP is of pure landrace, but I've heard she's not good for anxiety. So to cross her with my NL pollen should take the edge off her intense speedy high!:thumb:
Thigs are looking great at your place, looking forward to the flowers!! See you around bro....

Don't be sorry like I said in my journal it was a learning experience and it showed me that I have soooooooooo much to learn still.

I don't know for sure what happened it could have been the switch from the FF to BPN I know that my ph is in check I have three differnt ways to test and they are all around 6.7.

I will be around I got a few things going so I just wanted to close that journal and have a fresh start with BPN, from start to finish. Also I'm trying a little Coco grow as well. So progress is coming. :cheer:

Thanks for the support :Namaste:

Sweet! I've been wanting to watch a coco grow, and will be interesting to see the BPN get a chance to run from the start. See you around!

Weekend Update

I got a little bored today, as waiting for super stressed clones, who were taken while in flower to root can be about as exciting as watching paint dry. I wanted to open up the underside of the canopy on my SSH lady, and planned on just tossing the cuttings. But I seem to have a problem with throwing away perfectly good plants. So I made 5 clones out of them. I dont really expect them to root quickly, but then again they may just surprise me and grow roots by the time the Durban Poison and CJ Widow decide to quit lolly-gaggin. If they're not ready bu the time the others are ready for flower, I figure I'll just scrap them, but I do have something in the works to acommodate the 5 new clones....That part I'll discuss later.
Here are the first 4 clones, I found the 5th hiding behind the pot after I took pics. Lol, I wonder if she'll be the difficult one....

I've never cloned this way, and don't know what to expect. They're just cut, scraped, stuck in rockwool and left in 1/8 in. of water.

Then I decided to make my SSH canopy more even. I used regular string, with slipknots, and a few holes in the top of the bucket to secure them.
This isn't your traditional LST, where the single top is trained to allow the side shoots to become "main" colas. I just wanted to pull all the top branches to the level of the lower branches. It looks freakin cool!

Why, thank you, thank you very much OMM! I got home tonight and my poor little Durban Poison and CJ Widow clones were looking like straight crap!! I mean their leaves were completely limp and laying at their sides. I panicked and broke out the bubble cloner, yet again.
This worked out because I was able to throw in the other 5 clones I took yesterday too.
Within an hour the Durban Poison is perking up nicely! Once again, my hat's off to this method of cloning, AND to SuperThrive....:bravo:

Your plant in the big bucket looks awesome! Wow.

Hey thanks a bunch 4204all! And :welcome:
She's a Super Silver Haze, and I'm excited to find out what she has to offer. Feel free to stop in anytime and chime in.

:high-five: on your training of that SSH, that's the same way I did my Blue Cheese plant. It put out some nice cola's minus the problems I had.

Thanks HMG, I didn't exactly plan on doing it that way, it just seemed like the thing to do when the time came. Once I did it, I realized that it should make for a killer canopy and hopefully some very nice colas.:Namaste:
