Quix's SSH from Clone - Chocolate NL Re-Veg & Other Fun Strains Coming Soon!

Hi Quix - It is good to see you around again a bit more. Hope all is well on the homefront and elsewhere... How goes the plumbing certification? :cheertwo:

Hey Quix! Good to see you back, Brother! The song is hillarious - I gotta party with Willie!

Thanks Mr. K! I'll be in and out for a while, at least until I test for the licensure, and until I get my grow takes the next step. But I'll be around, always.:Namaste:

Hey X thanks! The Cert is, well, its coming along. There are some hic ups involved, having a record, but it should be within the next year. I'd really like to get my name out there to all the local hydro growers when the time comes. Nothing like doing side jobs for a grower!

Subbed. Sorry to hear your having problems with the clones. The brown sludge and the white are pretty much the same thing bro, it bacterial gray slime. Means there is too much decomposing organic matter in the water. You picked a poor medium to go with that type of cloner, holds too much water. Not sure if the problem came that way, its normally introduced by something that is put in your nute solution. I will nolonger use superthrive ever again cause my stuff went bad and it messed up a few grows. H2O2 does nothing to stop gray slime, it needs to be wiped out or washed out. When its brown it does not pose as much of a problem but its a sure indicator that something is wrong and should be drained and wiped away. You should keep your solutions simple until you find your problem. Good luck, in my experience it was a hard battle I try to avoid.

Wow Mr. Smith, where do you find time to participate in a small closet dirt journal like mine!? I've seen a bunch of your work, and my hat's off to you sir.

Here's what I was able to discern from my last experience with the cloner. The Reddish brown sludge, and the white sludge were very different in the way they grew, and places they liked to cling. The white stuff was very "snot" like, and liked to cling to the net cups and or float around in the water at different depths, in chunks. I'm almost positive now that it was the MM2000 product that caused it.
The Reddish-brown was more like alge, coating the bottom and sides of the cloner, and is much slower in growth. I believe the SuperThrive contributes to that, as I have seen signs of it before with its use in my cloner.
The thing is that I've used this cloner 3 times previously, with all the same environmental factors as this time, and only after around 14-17 days did I really start to see any signifigant alge formation. I'm pretty sure the MM caused my snotty white stuff.
I agree that I should keep my solutions simple, its what has worked for me in the past.
I'm a little bummed to hear about Superthrive giving you problems, I have a pretty big soft spot for the stuff but now I may reconsider. Sorry it ruined your crops!!

As for the medium, I just used a bunch of free stuff I got from someone, and it worked great for a few runs before. You say the rockwool is not great for this type of cloner? Could you suggest something that would be better? Any thoughts and opinions are welcomed and apreciated, I like the cloner so I would love to know how I could improve my use of it!
Again thanks for your time!

Thanks for taking the time to drop some knowlede on me, I really apreciate that!

:welcome: BID!! Thanks for readin through. This grow was kinda dumped on me, I gave away the best plant I had, and It's been a bit of an albatross, but I HAD to grow these plants. I couldn't just kill 'em right!? Lol. Oh well, things are pretty much running themselves at this point, and we're in bloom now so its getting better. I'm looking forward to the next grow already, which should be fun. I'm thinking about doing a Jilly Bean in the single plant 2x2 "Corner", and 1 or 2 autos in the small clone tent. I know my journal says Strawberry Diesel was up next....It's still up in the air at this point....:thumb: Oh and thanks for the reps!:thankyou:

Lol, Irish, I know I sound a bit ungreatful...I dont mean to. Trust me I DO know what its like to not have a means of aquiring meds....
My last two grows were from seeds that came from a bud I got from my dispensary, which were likely from a hermie. The cool strains I have now were gifted from two different people, both of which just couldnt care for them. I got my first "real" seeds a while back, but could only afford a few, and shelled out about the same for shipping as I did for the seeds. I was really excited to start those seeds, but that grow got held up by this one. Thats the main reason I'm not as into this grow as I should be, plus the plants have all been a pain in the ass, or stunted....So basically I'm just ready to be done with this grow so I can grow something better:thumb:
Sorry if I sounded like an ungreatful douche!!

Those girls are looking really good Quix. :high-five:

Yummy!:Namaste:

Oops I missed you OMM< so sorry my friend!!
Thanks for droping in with the kind words!:thankyou:

Who all is using SSU? (Snow Storm Ultra)
I ask because I have been unable to make up a 1 gallon solution, and store it for more than a week without it getting gunky....Its supposed to be more economical to use it as a foliar spray, but I cant possibly use an entire gallon, or even a small spray bottle at a time. It seems like such a waste to make up even a half gallon at a time, only to use a few ounces at most, then have to throw it away....Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated!!:Namaste:

I use (and LOVE!) SSU!

I use it as a foliar, only. I mix 1 ml in a 1 qt. spray bottle. Sometimes, I'll make a 1/2 batch, depending on how many girls in flower. If you store it in a cool/dark place, it should keep for a few weeks, but if you still have problems, you can make 1/4 batches, which would be 1/4ml of SSU in 8 oz. of water.

Thanks K....I guess I'll have to find an eye dropper or something to measure mL....But from my calcs, it would be closer to a 1/2ml /8oz...(.625)....Do you go light on the SSU on purpose? I know I've read to go easy on the nutes while using it....I'd really like to get this stuff into action, but I want to use it right....
---Also, have you ever used it in the soil as apposed to foliar?
Thanks again...:thankyou:

Yeah....I do go a little light on the dose....I believe they suggest 1 tsp per gallon, which is actually just under 5 ml/gallon and I use at a rate of 4ml/gallon, so .625 instead of .5 would be accurate. I don't know how much of a difference in PPM's the extra .125 ml would be, but the math and measuring is easier using 4 ml/gallon! :) .
