Quix's SSH from Clone - Chocolate NL Re-Veg & Other Fun Strains Coming Soon!

Hi Quix - I've never had treats with Canna butter that I know of... Maybe when I was younger. But, treats with Canna oil are strong flavored often too. Thats why brownies work well, they mask/compliment the smell. I was relieved and thrilled to find that the Snickerdoodles complimented that flavor too. But, it's there. I actually like the flavor okay, but I always make sure to strain good so there is not actual "grass" in the oil, which is gross to me. ;)

I think water cured might be good idea for reducing smell? Not sure, haven't tried that either, but seems like others have said it helps? Probably best bet!

Huh....I guess I always assumed the oil would be less flavorful. I think in my head it seemed like the oil would be more concentrated, and allow you to use less. But it makes sense now that I think of it in terms of regular baking, with a recipe that calls for cooking oil. Thanks for the info brother, and yes, you should try the butter!

I'm really considering the water cure before my next batch.....I'm going to make an extra strength batch, using my usual oz. of fine herb, plus all the trim from my last grow. Should make up for any loss of potency due to the WC, if there is any.....:thumb:

FYI...you won't lose potency with a WC. In fact, it gains potency because you'll lose more weight with a WC, so the same potency is compacted into less bud.

Yeah I get that, but technically, if I designate one zip to the making of butter, water cure it, and then it weighs a little less, its still the same amount of medicine going into the butter. It may increase the potency/gram by way of weight loss, but I would immagine that some of the trichomes are lost to water changes and such....

Well ladies and gentlemen, this grow just changed up a little. Check this out.

The family and I just got home from doing our grocery shopping, and there was a sticky note on my door. The note reads:

"Left you some presents in the garage"

It was signed so I knew who it was from.
There was a second note stuck to the back of the first that read:

"CJ Widow, NL, Durban Poison"......

I go into the garage, and there sits a box, with a nice sized CJ widow plant, and 3 clones, one of the CJ Widow, one NL, and one NICE SMELLING Durban Poison.
My wife and I had some friends over last night, who we haven't seen in a long time. I found out that my buddy's roommate has recently down-sized a grow he had going, and I guess this was a few of what he needed to get rid of. FREAKIN SWEET right??
CJ Widow in the middle, CJ clone on the right, and Durban Poison on the left....

Notice the 3 finger leaves on both the Durban poison and the Widow....

I decided to scrap the NL clone, or maybe give it to a buddy, as I have enough NL seeds to last me a lifetime and didn't plan on growing the strain this time around.
I think I'll give one of these SSH plants to my buddy, along with the NL clone, and possibly even the CJ widow clone. That'll open up some room in the tent, which will allow me to either clone the CJ plant, or just flower the DP and CJ clones. I really wanted to flip 12 on the SSH, but looks like she'll get a little extra veg time while I get things figured out.

Another note, it appears to me that these clones were all taken from mothers that were in early flower stage.......
....YEP! Just got a message that said they were indeed taken from flowering plants. They're not too far in, as the pistils are few and far between.

So now my question to everyone is this. How long would you recommend vegging these gals before going back into 12/12? I think at this point they may have their hormones a little outta whack, and want them to be relaxed when they go back into flower.....

Thanks for looking and for any advice you guys may have!!

Hey, Quix! Congrat's on the plants! It seems to me it wasn't that long ago you were talking about downsizing a little, yourself, and I'm glad to see that's not happening too quixly! :)

I honestly don't know the answer to your question, but I would think once she gets fully back into veg phase, you can then move her back to flower. I don't know how long it will take for her to really revert back to veg, though.

I'm assuming the high risk of hermie happens when changing cycles while the plant is already in transition. I would think once the transition to veg is complete, the risk would be very low when switching back to flower. :goodluck:

My thinking exactly brother....Hermies are something I'd like to avoid at this point, seeing as how Ive already dealt with them recently. I also dont know quite how long they've been in veg so it could be that they are ready now. I guess my gauge wil be when I see new growth....

Also, a big congratulations to you Mr K on your Member of the Month nomination and win!! A well deserved win too my friend:bravo:

Made some cannabutter before but was not successful, so I'm going to try again following your tutorial and make some treats! Going to try some today.

Veg them out until you see 5 fingers leafs or more. As Mr Krip mentioned, to be safe from becoming hermie. When cuttings are taken from flowering plants they'll spend time reverting back to veg since the clone cannot flower due to no roots. The clone will then revert itself back to veg at the same time producing roots, this is why cuttings from flowering plants takes longer to root. 1-3 fingers leaf appeared after roots are formed. It's a quick way the plant can get some photosynthesis going instead of waiting for the 5-9 fingers leaf which will take longer and would put the clone in jeopardy. Anyway, to know for sure when its ok to put back under bloom is when the plant grow out 5-9 fingers leaf. Usually 1-2 weeks after the clone has roots under veg photoperiod. Hope that helps.

Whats Good Quix,

Sending a prayer out for you my friend.

Quix, what a great gift. Man I could use a gift like that right now.

I think you got great advice for how you should go forward with these clones, so I won't add anything except keep up the great work.

Hey 12 thanks for all that, that all makes perfect sense! I'm already starting to see 5 fingers in most places on the plants, so it should be time soon....Thanks again bud!:Namaste:

Hey Quix! Congrats on the awesome gifts. How cool is that? :yahoo:

Its VERY cool my friend:high-five: Problem is, now I have to consider what the best plan of action is. The new CJ Widow plant is fairly large for my space.....The tent that is. The "Corner" is where the large plants go, and I decided a while ago that I would give the space to one good, strong plant, with 5 gal of soil, and let her thrive. My SSH lady is in there already, and I dont want to crowd her. I think I want to clone the CJ Widow, and hold off on flipping the lights. I should be able to flip the lights in about a month.......:Namaste:

Hey there brother IC:welcome:
Thanks for swingin by my journal, and for the kind words and prayer!
I like your thinking on the end result of getting healthier roots, now, and thus, larger yield in the end.....:thumb:
I'll definitely keep it in mind when making my decisions!!
Hope to see you around, don't be a stranger!!

Well thank you brother, you'd have chimed in with good advice just the same if someone else hadn't. I definitely have some thinking to do, wish me luck!:thumb:

Hey Quix! :high-five:

I have been riding along watching. Don't know diddle about clones so I'm learning....probably never will clone....but your doing great. Sounds like your filling every available space and having a good time doing it. All the best to you my friend! :Namaste:

Hey Quix Nice gift ! That was very cool ....Good Freind ! !:high-five:
I was wondering the same thing, because the White Widow in my flower room is so beautiful I want to have a few off-springs. So Thanks once again to Mr K. and 12 for sharing their experiences.
I too am scaling back, because I don't know what to do. I live in a state where M.M. is legal .......oh WAIT ! it is not ! But yes it is after 63% of the people voted for it but some politicians make it a personal thing.
Sorry to 420 if this statement is out of line but Man am I pissed
:peace: Brother

Yep!:high-five: But things changed up today, yet again....I'll have an update in a little bit....Thanks for the good vibes brother:Namaste:
