I topped it up this afternoon with the kids paddling pool after they had finished with it lol. I know have twice as much at half strength...I think. I added 10 more egg shells and 4 more banana peels as well. Tomorrow we have a roast chicken fr dinner so I will add all of the bones from that as well. The upcoming harvest will see all of the cannabis waste go in there after I've made some hash with it. The cat brought a bird home the other day and guess where it went lol.Sounds like a brew and a half cooking away prof. Keep up the brave work.
I pray nobody falls asleep in your garden or it's the pot for them too.lol . No point in asking about shergar or Lord Lucan is there?. Plants look nice and healthy from the feeds of it though. I certainly know where the cat is going if it eats another one of my plants! All joking aside it is certainly worth looking into (not the barrel) as it is very cheap to do, better for the environment and hopefully will sustain my garden indefinitely. It is like eternal plant food lol. You just add more water as the barrel goes down and keep throwing stuff in it. Variety is apparently the key. Don't just add grass clippings though you certainly could. I do a lot of weeding and there are all kinds of plants which I couldn't even name go in there. Some I can name are things like ivy, blackberry vines, dandelions, wild strawberries and ferns. Those are some of the more pleasant sounding things which go in and even with those the smell gets pretty wild. I like to take it one step further and really spice things up. I'm not completely mad though and have thought about everything which goes in. Matchstick heads contain sulphur, egg shells contain calcium and banana peels contain potassium. It's that kind of logic. I have no idea about ratio's as I'm really not keeping count lol. One thing I know about it is that it sustains plants in vegetative growth. Plants which don't need a lot of nutrients are more than happy living in a soil which is being fed with this stuff. The question is will it allow more hungry plants which bare fruit to grow. The little auto and the tomatoes will give me an idea after they're finished growing. It is quite fun really but I'm still too much of a coward to bring it indoors and use it in a tent on a plant under familiar growing conditions.I pray nobody falls asleep in your garden or it's the pot for them too.lol . Thanks syenite and welcome to my journal. Just in time for a harvest as well. "Questionable" is what I'm all about lol. Last year I experimented with several brands of cheap potting soils and ended up with mixed results. Some were fine and I couldn't tell the difference between those and the more expensive cannabis friendly soils. Others though were either difficult to work with or caused ph problems and lockouts. These things are worth experimenting with though as they could save us growers a lot of money.Hello @ProfessorFlora ! Newbie grower and new to the forums too. Been learning a lot and keen to keep learning from experienced growers such as yourself. Love the relentless composting lol and your pragmatism for this grow in general. My current (first) grow is an accidental, outdoor bagseed grow, in questionable soil and with questionable homemade ferts.
For my first "real" grow I will also be facing the constraints of our tiny apartment, and will be using a cabinet, so looking to pick up everything I can! Am just waiting on the electronics to get started.

I'll be sure to stop by and check out what's going on in your journal shortly.
Cheers syenite and welcome to 420
Thanks syenite. I'm 5 hours into the harvest right now and I'm just having a quick break. It looks like I'm going to be up for half of the night. 3 plants down and 4 still to go. There was a lot more bud in there than I thought.Thank you my friend!
Yes, sometimes I am driven by the notion that restriction and necessity (and outright but intentional stupidity?) can be fertile ground for innovation.
Like a good escape artist. Bondage sets you free?
Your plants are so beautiful - glad to be here to see them peak!

Joint break over! back to it.
