ProfessorFlora Presents: Growing On A Journey

Hey everyone! Hope you've all had a great weekend. I've been super busy but have also managed to sort out the grow room and get it up to shape. We've had a dust, a bleach mop and a bit of a move around. I ditched my 2 smaller tents and moved the seedlings into a 100 x 100 (unbranded cheap tent) and put them under a ViparSpectra XS1000. The XS1000 was gifted to me from ViparSpectra a couple of years ago and it has been excellent first every tast that it has been assigned. I normally use it for vegging which it has absolutely no problem doing though I have also flowered several smaller plants with it. I recently grew a plant (G-Mint) using it and I ended up with almost fist size tops. I really can't recommend this light enough as it does what it says on the tin plus more. I will try to utilise it for more than just vegging in this journal to show everyone what I mean.
Quick question to all. Is MegaCrop a sponsor? I saw someone mention the other day that it was but back when I was journalling on 420mag before, it definitely wasn't. Anyway I'm currently mixing 1g to 2ltrs of water for the seedlings which seems fine. A lot of growers on here use precise measurements but I haven't really done that ever using MC. I've found it to be incredibly forgiving as well as rewarding though I think at times I could probably use more than I do. I also never check PH, use water from the tap (my local water quality is superb though) and water to runoff in a saucer but the plants are never flushed. What goes in stays in. If I were to change nutrients in the future I would read their instructions and adjust accordingly. I only do this as I know I can get away with it. I'll be increasing the nutrient dosage for the next watering to suit early veg plants which feels right at this point.

Now let's talk about the plants as there are a couple of changes to the programme. Firstly both of the Green Cracks when mouldy. I opened the plugs and saw that the seeds were slimey and had fungle hairs growing on them. It was the same with the second Sour Diesel. I knew there was something wrong as I mention in that previous post. Good news it that the 3 seeds I planted as replacements all germinated correctly and have broke ground in 3 days. That means no gaps in the 8 plant canopy I had my heart set on creating. The new strains are Mango, Zombie Death Fuck and 24k Gold.

Let's look at what is going on now....

These are the Blueberries today. All look good....

The GMO's (top) and the Blue Dream's (bottom)....

The lone but beautiful Sour Diesel....

The Mango and the Zombie Death Fuck....

And finally the last to show (almost there) is the 24k Gold....

That's it for today's update though some bud porn is probably on the cards. It is Sunday after all....

G-MINTS....

GTA's....

Pine Tar Kushes....

So there we have it. Thank you for everything you beautiful people. Now it's time to go and vape a big ol bowl of kush to blow the excess energy away. Peace all!

Excellent. Then in the future, I'll give them all the respect that they deserve.

Do you know if Storz and Bickel are sponsors? I saw a review for the Crafty but couldn't find anything else
I haven't heard anything about them, but maybe one of the sponsors sells them?
I think it was @Lady Cannafan who wrote the review, maybe she can say?

I don't know if they have renewed their sponsorship yet. So they aren't currently on the sponsor list.
I don't have any involvement in that, so I don't really have any info on it.

I did a review on the Crafty+ and on the Volcano Hybrid. Those can be found on our homepage. :)

Hey Lady Cannafan!

Thanks for letting us know.
I don't have a Crafty but I do have one of these....

I would very much like a Volcano hybrid though. :volcano-smiley:(minus the bag, I prefer the hose)

Thanks Melville.

Nice!
I love the bag on the Volcano Hybrid and have even made my own replacements.
Some of my friends prefer the tube as you do.

@StoneOtter
Weren't you looking into the mighty+? Or did you already have one.....I can't remember now.

Excellent! What is the humidity like where you are? I'm rethinking my current set up as it's 85% RH currently. I've survived worse but I could do without the added anxiety
I'm in the desert so the outdoor humidity varies between 30% and 90%. The house is typically between 35% and 60%. The cabinet is maintained between 40% and 60%.

I used to have a desktop vaporizer but I need a new one.
The Mighty+ is a solid piece of kit and serves me very well indeed. I thought that the battery life could have been a problem but it's not all that bad really.

That's quite a swing. I'm in the UK so it's wet a lot. It's currently 85% but that should hopefully drop as it gets colder later in the the year. I should probably think about growing humidity resistant strains more often.

Hey everyone. Hope all is well and good

It's been only 10 days since the seeds were put into the propagator and we're already seeing the first set of true leaves on some of the seedlings. I'd say we're off to a good start.
I'm still to increase the nutrient levels and will likely do so tomorrow as the Blue Dream's and the GMO's are growing fast. Their pots are just starting to dry out for the first time and I don't want to get caught out so early. The newer seedlings will be slightly behind the original plants in terms of growth. I may top the older ones and let the new ones grow naturally to try and close the gap. We'll decide in a couple of weeks. For now though, this is what we have....

The Blueberries are all looking good. The leaves are nice and dark and a bit wonky which I quite like....

The Blue Dream's are quite similar looking at the moment. They are growing quite fast....

The GMO's are also growing fast though one seems to be on steroids....

Our Sour Diesel is good. She's keeping up with the rest for the moment at least....

The Mango, Zombie Death Fuck (Which I'll just call ZDF from now on) and the 24K Gold are all about 3 days behind. We should be alright....

The plants in the flowering tent are still good. I watered them again today and seem to be doing so every 4 to 5 days. The LED's cause the plants to drink so much less than when using HPS though I think that is probably more to do with the heat than the lights themselves. When using HPS I was watering them every 2 to 3 days which makes LED so much cheaper.
Anyway that's all for now. I'll get some pics of the flowering plants soon. Gotta keep an eye on that frost as it's getting better by the day.

Stay safe folk and happy growing

:passitleft: Your plan sounds like a good one. Lovely little plants all looking so happy.

Thank you, Carmen. I've got some more lovely though not so little plants coming up.
The little ones are off to a fast start! They grow up so fast🥲 lol

Everything looks great and I’m sure the frost monsters do too!
They do grow fast. I'm thinking they'll need a little bit of root pruning as they'll be in those pots for about another 4 weeks.

As promised, here are the current flowering plants....

The G-Mint's are both doing well. There was an issue with the first one early on and she became a bit stunted. I currently have her sat on a small plant pot to raise her up a bit. She has an amazing smell which is like cherry soda and is in the top 3 if going by scent. She's second to last if talking about growth.
The second plant is a gooey monster! The smell on this one is also in the top 3 but is completely different. It's a straight up gaseous, rubber funk. I can tell that the flowers will be smaller but dense which I do not mind one bit....

Next we have the GTA's. These are also all different though 2 are more similar than one of them. The first one is possibly the champ of the grow. It has the most dirty scent of them all and will also be the largest yielder. This one is quite close to one I grew in the previous grow I did which was undocumented. That one was much more citrus smelling though.
The second GTA is the odd one out. It looks very indica leaning and is much shorter. She is very fruity and has a soapy, berry scented undertone.
The third GTA is like a more uniform and petite version of the first. She has a sharp look to her leaves and flowers and has incredible, purple stems. The scent for this one is nutty and skunky with woody notes....

Finally we have the Pine Tar Kushes. These are a bit of a mixed bag but are mostly good. Like the other 2 strains, they are all different both in appearance and with the smells given off by the flowers.
The first PTK had a bit of a problem early on and went completely yellow in early flower. It also had wrinkly leaves and just looked a bit sickly. She didn't slow down during the stretch though and grew well throughout the whole flowering period (so far). She has developed a crazy amount of frost and is probably the most frosty of them all. You can't quite see it properly with this phone camera though which is a shame. We will get a better camera soon though. She has a musky, blue fruit smell that is soft and smooth.
The second PTK is a problem. She started out so well, having the thickest stems, biggest and toughest leaves and having just an all round solid feel to her. Then I noticed that she had loads of pollen sacks low down but as it was early I plucked them all and remained vigilant. Then towards the end of the stretch she started losing leaves, starting from the bottom and working it's way up. It looked like overwatering to me but she slowed down with the drinking to a point where the others had several waterings to her 1. She's not been happy and I keep expecting go have to pull her at any moment but she still keeps on growing. She won't give me much as I've removed several dead branches from her. If I'm lucky she give us 15g or so. Not a total loss and she also smells fantastic. It is like a sweet pastry with hints of flowers. What isn't dead also looks quite good.
The third and final PTK is the oddest one as it is tall. and looks more like a hybrid than the other 2 which are definitely indica looking. These are meant to be pure indicas so I find it strange that she looks the way she does. She will be the best yielder of the PTK's and probably one of the best of them all. This one has a floral, liquorice scent and is another favourite of mine so far....

Here are some bonus pics because everyone likes a bonus....

And that is that! I calculated these to be ready by the 26th of October but I think they'll be done before then. Coincidentally that is also the date that I must attend a friend's wedding so that will be a busy weekend. Busy and expensive! I've got to buy a new suit because I'm too fat now for my old one. Anyway, I digress lol.

Hope everyone is well and uplifted. Take care and happy growing.

Hey 420!

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. I've been busy as usual and have just had the chance to go and check out my tents. All is good though the smell is now crazy so I've installed a carbon filter to help with that. I don't usually use carbon filters for the entire grow to help extend their lifespans but also because I don't like them as they restrict the airflow a bit too much for my liking. We're at a point though where it's getting a bit whiffy lol. My last grow I got away without using one at all but now that I'm using LED again, the smell is so much stronger. Not much to report in the flowering tent apart from the fact that I removed 1 banana from the small G-Mint. 10 years ago I would have lost sleep over finding a nana on one of my plants but these days it takes a bit more than that to rattle these feathers. Mould on the other hand is a completely different story. Hopefully we won't see any of that lol.
Here are the flowering plants today....

G-Mint's....

GTA'S....

Pine Tar Kushes....

And the obligatory bonus pics....

Some of those pics are a bit crappy but I'm experimenting lol.

Meanwhile, over in the veg tent....

Everyone is happy, happy, happy! 14 day from the start of the journal and I've already introduced another pot lol. What you can see there is my attempt at running an auto alongside my photoperiod veg plants. I wanted to do more with ViparSpectra's XS1000 which is a small light but I think we can show off a little bit. In a few weeks 8 of those pots will be moved out leaving only the Blueberries so I thought we could get away with making the veg tent a bit more productive. Why not throw in an auto lol.
Here are the veggers this week. First we have the DJ Short Blueberries....

Some of those are keeping up with the Blue Dream's and the GMO's. If I were a betting man I would say that those are the males lol.

The fems are all good also. Barney's genetics are solid here. Those GMO'S are looking great! Sour D is also good and looks like it has indica type leaves at the moment but I expect that to change during flowering. The rest are good. Blue Dream's are doing what is expected of them and the smaller plants are still chugging along behind....

So, there goes another week! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun lol.

Peace to everyone, stay safe and love you all. Happy growing everyone.

This thread is a trip down memory lane! Lots of tidy looking plants all tucked in the tent and a bunch of lovely bud shots to drool over!
Things are progressing nicely with the new ones, another couple of weeks and they will be ready for a leaf strip!

Thanks, N! I'm looking forward to stripping some leaves as I want some to make smoothies with lol. Maybe even throw some on a salad. And of course, there'll be some for the cat.

Just a small update today to show how the new seedlings/young veg plants are coming on.

Not quite a field of green but it's a start....

The sativa leaning strains are just awesome. Particularly that GMO from Barney's Farm which is sailing at this point. I'm not doing anything special with them, quite the contrary, if anything I'm lazy and playing it cool as a cucumber. As I've developed as a grower over the years, I've definitely fallen on the "less is more" side of things. I've decided that the MegaCrop/coco coir combo is almost fool proof assuming we understand the basics a little bit. Things can certainly go wrong but once it's dialed in things just seem to work. In the future I'm going to be doing some side by sides using the Blueberry plants (assuming they're any good) with different lighting and media. We'll see then if the coco mc combo is as good as I think it is. For now though, here are the little ladies and hopefully not too many gentlemen. Look at that GMO....

The big one in this pic is the Sour Diesel from Barney's Farm. She is also looking fine....

The Blueberry's. It might be hard to see but the colour of these is a slightly darker green than the fems....

Like I said, just a small, catch-up update today. I'll post something a bit more substantial towards the end of the week.

Peace!
