Producing Feminized Seeds Using Colloidal Silver

Great to hear that sacs are opening!
Looking forward to that update!

You are treating a bunch of plants, so consistency is a good reason to buy it alone. I was just wondering if I was saving much money. Only thing is I would hate to run out at a bad time if I didn't know I could make it. But the good news is, it's ridiculously easy to make ;).

Maybe, we would be able to trade some seeds around if this all works out?

Just wanted to note. I began CS on my plants 2 days before switching to 11 on/13 off.
The sprayed areas did show some hairs at first, but were quickly shriveled and replaced by sacs. No hairs have returned on the sprayed areas, and CS was ended several days ago.

UPDATE: FIRST POLLEN SAC OPENS...
AND MORE PREPARING!!!

YES!!! God is teaching me patience... again!!!

Here is the Auto Himalaya Blue Diesel 48 days after starting the CS process on her. This plant was CS treated on the bottom ONLY for approximately 3.5 to 4 weeks while the top was untreated. You can see she grew quite tall.
12-15-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_50-50Plant.jpg

Then, a little closer pic of the upper portion to show she has some nice tops forming that I intend to pollinate SOON...
12-15-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_50-50PlantCloser.jpg

Next, a look at the most mature pollen sacs. They have grown and although some are still younger, the older sacs appear to be "swelling"...
12-15-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_FemalePollenSacsSwelling1.jpg

And from a different angle, you can see one on the bottom right is preparing to open...
12-15-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_FemalePollenSacsSwelling2.jpg

And then a pic from a different plant - the FIRST plant to have the FIRST OPEN POLLEN SAC... This is the Auto Kush that I thought about culling due to possible hermie traits - but didn't. I figured it wasn't hurting anything to keep it around (had the space), so she is still here. She is so grateful for her continued life, that she gave me the first open sac...
12-15-2011_AutoKush_1stFemalePollenSacOpening.jpg

This is the ONLY open sac, so I am waiting for more to open before taking them. BUT THE GAME IS ON!!!!!

I have separated the two ladies above from the rest of these treated ladies now. I don't want them pollinating all the experimental ladies either - so each has it's own room at present with just sunlight thru the window instead of CFL lights.

TIME AT THIS POINT:
I began spraying 3 plants 49 days ago - they are still working on progressing. These are the Auto Cream Caramel, Auto Blueberry, and Auto Widow Ryder. The CC and BB sacs are developing and much closer than the WR. The WR was a slower plant to hit flowering for an auto strain - and taller, and I only sprayed the top for 8 days - so the upper portion is a mixture of flowering buds and pollen sacs.

The Auto Himalaya Blue Diesel and Auto Kush were both started 48 days ago. These are the two plants pictured above - probably the first I will be able to take pollen from.

Of course, I will update with pics when more sacs have opened and I take the pollen. But we are getting CLOSER!!!!

Last, here are pics of the treated ladies separated to their old, dungy closet area so they don't accidentally pollinate my flower room. This is the shorter ladies in the back...
12-15-2011_ShorterColloidalSilverTreatedPlants.jpg

And here are the taller CS treated ladies in the front...
12-15-2011_TallerColloidalSilverTreatedPlants.jpg

And I am still working on more strains, so I have 3 more regular-strain (not autos) ladies in the flower room still being CS treated (getting close to showing changes)... and other new strains I will be doing from new strains in my veg area... so I guess I'm gonna be making a shitload of seeds!! *I HOPE*!!!

That's it for today!!!! I have a ton of things to do and never enough time to get them all done!!! EEK!!!!!

Hi Honey!!!

:thankyou::thanks::thankyou: for such nice comments. I think this process is pretty amazing too! I sure am treating a lot of different strains and loving it!!! It actually shocked me how easy it is to consistently produce female pollen sacs... now I just gotta get the ENDING right!!! LOL

:circle-of-love::cheertwo: You're going to nail it!!!!:high-five: Positive vibes flow your way all day.

Yee Haw! My CS arrived yesterday, the same stuff you are using Granny. My scheme is to make regular seeds from a AK 47 x Skunk #1 crossed with Diesel and make female pollen from one of the AK 47 x Sk#1 plants to be later used on another Diesel and a AK 47 x White Widow. Thanks soo much for putting the light on this as I have wanted to do this for years. This diesel clone I have will put on "nanners" very late in flower, I don't know if they make viable pollen as I never have any seeds from them and they are not normally formed. I hope this trait does not bloom into a full fledged hermie problem with the CS treatment. I think I will spray for 14 days and then on a specific part of the plant when I do it. I am going to keep my pollen factory in my flower room untill the last possible moment and then take her out, lay her horizontal in a window on some newspaper and let her finish making pollen. I do this with the males I use to get pollen, covering the plant with newspaper to keep any drafts from floating pollen around. I may keep a cutting in place that I spray till I see changes to make sure I get pollen.

Ok. So according to your pictures, I have several open sacs on both plants. I do not however see any pollen anywhere. I am so confused now lol. I expected powdery pollen to be within those sacs. Are these the developing "bananas" you would expect to see on a male plant? Or are we really close?

Edit: found this. "the male pods will swell, then they burst open, then there are little yellow banana like flowers hanging, then those open. when the actual flower opens your pollenated."
I am not allowed to mention where I read it... LOL

Drive Bye Duck. Hey Granny hope things are rolling. Congrads on the pollen. Let me know how yours turn please. Keepem Green

:Love::Love::Love::Love::Love:voltron:Love::Love::Love::Love::Love:
Thank you for the positive vibes!

I bet you are SO EXCITED about the new strains! Some excellent choices you made - POWERFUL!!!
Did have my business x-mas party last weekend - wonderful staff I have and a real nice night... but not ready yet for all the big ones coming up this next weekend - one of them here... so shopping still to do, cleaning to do, cooking to do, and I'm swamped with keeping up with the salon's needs - EEK!!!! This is why everyone's is combined here today! Short on time.
So WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU!!! And so GOOD to hear the seeds arrived!!!

:Love::Love::Love::Love::Love:Dr.RedWhite:Love::Love::Love::Love::Love:
So good to hear you're getting started! Wonderful strains too!
A lot of plants make nanners when grown longer. I don't know that it is a hermie trait for all of them when they do it late. I've read that it's a survival thing that they do to assure they procreate. I've got a couple Aurora Indica plants that just started to shoot a few nanners out this week, but the plants are a week past the recommended harvest times. They are packing on new bud growth and thickening up nicely, so I'm leaving them until next week to harvest.

Hopefully my update today will help you in PERFECT TIMING cuz it sounds like yours are ready to go! I liked the description! I think you will appreciate the update today. I *hopefully* pollinated my first lady today. :-)

CONGRATS!!!! Sounds like ya got LOTS of LADIES! YES!!!!! As soon as one has taken off, I'd put it in flower and get your CS treatment started on it. Since it takes quite some time to produce the sacs, and then more time for viable pollen... your other ladies can veg for awhile and then be ready (or give you a clone that would be) at the right time!
:Love::Love::Love::Love::Love:Norcali!!!:Love::Love::Love::Love::Love:
You silly goose! SO WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU DUCKIN' IT AGAIN! lol

Hopefully, I will be back with an update... running low on time and don't want to rush this one... lots of pics...

UPDATE: *HOPEFULLY* FIRST PLANT POLLINATED

Dec. 17th... Day 50 for the auto Himalaya Blue Diesel. This plant was treated with Colloidal Silver on the bottom half only in the hopes that I could pollinate the top. The bottom turned. The top did not. So all is good in the world of doing it all on one plant at this point. Here is the entire plant...
12-17-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel.jpg

In the pic below, you can see an open pollen sac on the lower portion of the sacs, a swelled sac that looks very close to opening, and younger sacs.
12-17-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_OpenFemalePollenSac.jpg

For those who may view this in the future and not quite understand, I number a few things to help them.
1) This shows the outer layer of the sac which has now split and spread, exposing the inner parts of the sac. There are more than I numbered - they circle the sac.
2) These are inner parts that look like curled up leaves. They contain pollen inside of them.
There are more than I numbered - they line the inside of the sac.
3) This is just highlighting a different pollen sac that looks very close to opening. You can see it is swelled and splitting on the end.

The next pic was also taken 2 days ago. I used tweezers to remove any pollen sacs that were either open (1) or cracked and ready to open (2). I held a small one ounce plastic container (pictured) under each sac as I removed them. Those that were open released extremely easily from the plant, the others sometimes took a few pulls with the tweezers to get it all.
After taking them, below are the FRESH takings...
12-17-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_TakeOpenFemalePollenSacs1.jpg

And here are the FRESH takings a bit closer...
12-17-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_TakeOpenFemalePollenSacs2.jpg

You can see the parts of the sacs, and you can see pollen in the container.

But please remember these pics are VERY CLOSE SHOTS. To see the pollen in my container I have to use magnifying tools.

On Dec 17th, I used a bit of the FRESH pollen and pollinated two mid-buds on the plant. I was hoping to be able to tell they got pollinated versus the other buds. But today (2 days later), I still couldn't tell.

Meanwhile... I let the sacs dry in the container for the last 2 days. I placed it in a cool, dark, dry place. Today, I got it back out and the pollen is drier, making it come out easily when I simply shake the container a little.

Now, two days later after the sacs have dried, here is what I see...
12-19-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_DriedFemalePollenSacs1.jpg

And closer...
12-19-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_DriedFemalePollenSacs2.jpg

And the dried sacs closer...
12-19-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_DriedFemalePollenSacs3.jpg

And the pollen closer, including a bunch still together...

And then just a close up of pollen on the side of the container...
12-19-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_DriedFemalePollenSacs5.jpg

That was the DRIED pollen taken on Dec 17th and allowed to dry for two days. I pollinated with it fresh on that day and today (19th) I used it again AND used...

Next is FRESH pollen from ONE SINGLE SAC taken today, Dec 19th. Although fresh, this one was ready to release easily. I added these pics so you can see that you can get a ton of pollen from ONE SINGLE SAC...

and closer...

And the main share of the pollen that fell off immediately when the sac hit the bottom (even granny could SEE that!)

Here is the upper portion of the plant...
12-19-2011_AutoHimalayaBlueDiesel_TopPollinated.jpg

I pollinated all you see above with fresh and dried pollen. But, I am still leaving the bottom pollen sacs and will take more and re-pollinate again in a week - just in case the pollen wasn't viable. I read somewhere NOT to use the first sacs that open on a regular male plant because it is not always viable... don't know if that is true or not - but I'm gonna pollinate like a son of a gun to assure SEEDS this time! LOL

I used a small ended paint brush to place the pollen directly on the pistils (hairs) of the buds - and I sometimes just tapped it over the bud too.

I left only the bottom budding branches (one on each side) of the plant unpollinated. I am hoping to be able to see a difference in the bud structure to assure I have seeds forming.

That is it for the update! Everyone wish me BABY SEEDS for x-mas!!!

And to all of you (in case I can't get back in here)...

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!
MAY YOU ALL BE BLESSED IN THE HOLIDAY SEASON!!!

Oh yeah!! +Reps Granny! You're doing a great job with the experiment, and an equally impressive job documenting and journaling this for all of us! A big thanks to you once again for all your hard work!!

One quick question...
Why are you in such a hurry to take the pollen sacs and dry them artificially?
I only ask because I would immagine that if you were to let the plants make their sacs, develop pollen, and finally release it naturally, you could be assured that the pollen is as close to "ready", or viable, if you will, as they could be.
The ol' fashon way, where you put dark paper under and around the bottoms of the plants.
And then theres the ol plastic bag over their heads trick, with a good shaking...
Just curios if the pollen might be more viable at that point.

Hope you're having a good week Granny, thanks again for this thread!

Great update Granny!
So far I have not manually removed any sacs. I have simply tapped the main stem in hopes to naturally release pollen throughout my little grow box.
The two currently receptive plants (which are also the two releasing pollen) are showing signs or reddening pistles on sites directly in line with the air flow from the sacs, but I am not sure yet. It is starting from the bottom up turning slightly red. Have noticed it 2 days ago and its getting more prominent.
I will begin to remove some ripe sacs and do it as you did in hopes that two ways are better than one.
When you get time, it would be great to get some nice close pics of pistles you think are pollinated to compare to.
Again, great update Granny!
Best wishes ;)

Edit: I just removed some sacs using tweezers and tapped them over the female part. OMG. That worked perfectly! I could literally see the pollen drift onto the hairs. No lie, before I was done, you could tell that hairs were changing color.
The sacs that were ready all but fell off into the tweezers.
I will do that a few more times over the next few days.
Thanks for that update Granny! The pics were PERFECT!

Within a couple hours the effects are obvious. The hairs are changing very quickly. They shrivel up and go dark reddish/brown kinda. Unmistakable. Hopefully they will continue to release pollen for the next 3 weeks or so in order to pollinate all the others, but if all the hairs that are already pollinated give me seeds, I will be a happy camper.
Granny, was the change that fast for you with your fresh pollen?

Hey Granny!

A while back I heard some folks chatting about your journal and figured I should come check it out for myself! It's taken me a while, but I'm all caught up! :thumb:

+Reps for a great journal with tons of valuable information! :thanks: so much for sharing this with us!

:Namaste:

Great journal. Wishing you baby seeds for christmas.

:Love::Love::Love::Love::Love:TO ALL!!!!:Love::Love::Love::Love::Love:

I am so short on time with payroll to do and then take to the shop, inventory to mark and get on the shelves, more presents to buy, a house to clean, mucho food to cook cuz we have our families x-mas here tomorrow... and my girls are at the point of need to get finished plants harvested (did 2 this week) so the girls in veg can come out and play in the flower room - right now both rooms are packed to the brim... EEK!!!

But I had to get in here for a last message before the holiday sets in!

:welcome: to 1234a5678b and Frattdog223!!! :thanks: Both so much for your wonderful comments!!! Gosh I hope you are both finding 420magazine to be the BEST PLACE online! I've made many friends here and just appreciate this resource SOOOO MUCH!!! I hope to see you again when I can give a better (not rushed) response!!!! :welcome::welcome::welcome:

Hi honey!!!

As for being in a hurry (lacking patience!!!)... I guess I was for a couple plants because the mates for them are real far into flower... but it is looking like I may not even NEED the mate in the end for those two strains (auto Blueberry and auto Cream Caramel), cuz the plants I turned had some buds on them too (not totally turned) and it appears they are fertilizing themselves now! I'll update one of them later.

:Love::Love::Love:NotaDrinker:Love::Love::Love:
Hi honey!!!

Yes, it is so easy to pollinate WHEN THEY ARE READY to release pollen! I have a number that are to the point where I can just tap the branch over my cup and the pollen falls right in - LOVE THAT! Sure should be viable pollen when it falls out like that!

Yes, the changes when I used the regular male pollen on younger budding plants was obvious within a very short time. However, when I used the female pollen (that didn't take), the plant was very far into flowering and the changes with the pistils must have just been at the time when they turned brown anyway - cuz I really thought I saw those changes, yet in the end the plant had ZERO seeds. I'm positive I have two plant pollinated currently... and seriously, what I am seeing on the plants that had both buds and pollen sacs, the mixed sets are self pollinating on some of the plants - so cool cuz it means it IS possible to do all on one plant!

:Love::Love:IRISH!:Love::Love::Love:

Hey sweetie!

I just got done leaving a drive by in your journal b4 coming to mine!

It sure does sound like you are gonna have pollen and seeds no matter what! I will be real happy to have FEMALE seeds cuz right now my veg room is pretty full cuz I have 9 regular papaya plants that are not all sexed yet. I've been watching for pre-flowers for a hint of sex... 2 are definite girls, 3 I *think* are boys (I put those suspects into flower yesterday so I can determine better in the next week - that made less crowding in my veg area!), and 4 are still unknown.

You have such WONDERFUL strains - I just know you are going to have a ton of seeds before it's done!!! We will both probably have more seeds than we will ever need! WOO HOO!!!

LAST.... I want to wish everyone a VERY...

MERRY CHRISTMAS

and a...

HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!!!

Can't start spraying till the relatives all leave so my plants will have dime sized buds on them before I can start. Put a sprayer top on a hydrogen pryroxide bottle to keep the light off my colloidial silver and am waiting for the needed privacy.
