PK Perpetual Grow Journal 2020

You may have mentioned it, but what are you using to lower your pH?
I use a concentrated DOWN from a great company called Grow More. I wouldnt recommend it for something like this grow though. A little REALLY goes a long way. 3 teaspoons of will will take my 50 gallons from 6.3 to 5.8. Unless your dosing with a pippetor you'll over do it

For real I dont think the humitidy is high enough in between the roots and water. In dirt it insulates the roots but in a sec system there is no insulation.
I completely agree with you. The transition to the water is way too dry. He and I talked about top watering, but he would have to use the res water so it didnt jack up the mix.

What is the volume of water in your system?

5 gallon

the water is filled up to the lid. pibbles are in the water and a pump is pushing more water to the top.

TNB down

i have the pump pushing water to the pibbles. I also have made a 1 gallon mix with 1.2ml of z9 in there. If my water level goes down i use that 1 gallon mix to fill up the res.

They don't tell you much about it:
"TNB Naturals granular pH DOWN is non-caustic so it won't burn your hands and since it's so gentle, it won't harm the beneficial bacteria. It's even safe for use with aquaponics.

TNB pH DOWN is composed of all natural ingredients with the addition of no harmful chemicals. This innovative way to lower the pH levels of your hydroponic or liquid fertilizer is both simple and cost effective. Simply add a small amount to your water, mix thoroughly and check your pH levels."

Found this on a sales site:
"Using all-natural ingredients derived from Hydroxypropane Tricarboxylic Acid"

I don't know what that is but it looks like it might be related to citric acid in some way.

Do you have anything else on hand you could try to see it it's more stable? pH Down or battery acid (which I've seen used here)?

@InTheShed :thanks: no i don't have anything else that i can try.

OK so, the first round the ph was so stable. I didn't have to adjust ph for two days.
I can see those slimy things being created again and i think this has to do with me constantly adjusting the ph

I think i'm gona reset the res water and wash everything again

this constant wash, water change is annoying :hmmmm:

You wanna see me schlep 5 gallon buckets of water, pumps, and extension cords outside every morning and in every night? Sadist!
Haha! It doesnt have to be that way! I little undercurrent style hydro. Some Q Boards. Boom done !

I'm extraordinarily lazy. I dont schlep shit. If it were hard to do I probably wouldn't do it

So Ok, here is how things looked while i was resetting the res. Again, my tap water ph is at 7.04. I did make a mistake on the ppm. My tap water is at 20ppm and not 70. i washed everything, sentized and mixed my water.
I did not ph the water as funny enough it was reading 5.8 on the slimmery bucket. I added 1.1/4 tsp of mc which gave me 250ppm.

Right Res: Gorilla Glue
No slime, and accept for constant ph adjustment she was doing alright.
Mixed the water and funny enough this one was already at ph6 :hmmmm:
mixed 1.1/4tsp of MC which gave me 250ppm
2.5ml part A+B Z9

Left Res: Mystery Girls
Slimmery stuff around, specially at the bottom of the res.
After sanitizing i mixed the water, I did not ph the water as funny enough it was reading 5.8 already :hmmmm: .
I added 1.1/4 tsp of mc which gave me 250ppm.
2.5ml of part A+B z9
Res temp at 19c

I find me tracking these levels has saved me so far from plants going bad. I know the old leaves look bad and they will never get better but the new growth on the GG is just slightly light green.

I think your TDS meter is out of whack. 70PPMs in tap water is amazing, mine is 270. But 20PPMs for your tap water utterly astounding. Those are Reverse Osmosis numbers. Im not sure thats possible from a municipal water supply. You may be over feeding if you're adding nutrients to the PPM numbers. Just a thought

i've checked with both my tds meters. So, I just checked my tap water from the sink and my tap water from the shower. The water coming out of my shower is 20ppm
The water coming out of kitchen fusit is 70ppm. This is only because i have one of those easy aquarium water connections that connects to my fusit and it can suck the fish tank water or push water from the fusit.

I'm sorry for the confusion. I just thought i should mention this to really figure wtf is going on.
