PK Perpetual Grow Journal 2020

Here's a good article on temperature and cannabis:

Along with everything else, it says:
"...low temperatures will detrimentally affect the root system and the uptake of nutrients, particularly in the case of magnesium. This micro-nutrient is vital for the proper development of the cannabis plant and if the substrate is colder than 18ºC then this element is most likely not being absorbed by the plant."
Bookmarked! Thank you!

@InTheShed do you have anything on ph?

i can't seem to get the ph to stabilize and i keep adding TDN ph down. I can understand to needing to adjust every day but every few hours?

I also, brought the ppm on gorilla glue to 144 from 100 ppm.

PK, I once advised you that a Blue Lab all in one meter might be a good idea. I have a change of heart...

Smokey and I were talking meters and he stated that he isn't able to calibrate his wall mounted Blue Lab meter's TDS function. He said it comes this way, As a matter of fact, you are unable to replace the probe if you have issues. Personally this is a deal breaker. You should at the very least be able to replace a probe... they arent meant to last forever, so what he is saying is when the probe dies so does your meter. So, I guess i wouldnt buy Blue Lab. Im very glad Smokey spoke up.

I missed that conversation....i think it's dependant on the model?. I see them for sale all the time....even a quick Google "bluelab replacement probe" shows tons for about 100 bucks. Gonna read some more up on this...ive been saving for a blue lab lol

i've been phing every two hours or so. is that common?

Well the smart ass answer is whenever I need to. PH is a wierd thing. When my pH is stable it will take about 5 days to migrate from 5.8ish to 6.3 ish (my window). With a new res. full of nutrients, that has Silica in it, I may have to move it down a few times for the first week, depending on the Silica. But that doesn't last long and will stabilize back to the slow migration North. My pH is always on the move if im gonna be honest. When I get to 6.3 I give it 3 teaspoons of pH down and I start over.

One major hurdle that makes your life harder is the volume of water in your rig. I have about 50 gallons. Your having issues I can't explain. pH moving like that is crazy.

My ph is the same until I add water then I always have to bring it up a bit then one week and my ph will raise to6.3.

What is the volume of water in your system?

I have a veg box which is hooked up to the res and a flower spot that supports 2 buckets. I fill the buckets from the res tank and once a week I hook up everything together and circulate the water.

In my res which have live plants and fish 10 gal. In each bucket 2.5 gal
Sounds like you have your pH basically sorted. What, in your opinion, is going on with poor PK?

Mine is always circulating.

For real I dont think the humitidy is high enough in between the roots and water. In dirt it insulates the roots but in a sec system there is no insulation.
