Happy New Year everyone!
Before I get started with the next seeds getting soaked, I want to summarize last season's grow. It was the first time I've tried growing indoor and the first time I've grown plants from a cloning attempt. All in all, it was a very busy year and much learning occurred.
I grew three autos - mostly indoor. American Pie from Pyramid Seeds which was mostly sativa (white widow x power plant); Zamaldelica from Ace Seeds which was also mostly sativa (Zamaldelica (Zamal x Malawi/Thai) elite x (Malawi x Northern Lights Auto); Gorilla Cookies from Fast Buds which was a 50/50 hybrid (Gorilla Glue x Girl Scout Cookies).
Here's the yield info:
Yields would have been much better, but they suffered from aphid and caterpillar infestations. Surprisingly I only had bug issues with the (mostly) indoor plants. I found the bud structure on each of these was very dense and frosty compared to my previous outdoor grows. I used the NextLight Core that I won in a plant of the month contest last year. I think it was the biggest factor for the improved buds since I fed them all about the same as the outdoor plants. Thank you
@NextLight
I started 6 photoperiod plants for my son's outdoor grow: Red Dragon; Zkittles; Amnesia; Dresden Green Diamond, OG Kush, and Gelot.OG. His favorites to smoke so far are Amnesai and OG Kush. I've tried the OG Kush, and it's nice, but I haven't sampled the others yet.
For my outdoor plants, I decided that two was enough for me. They were both from
@Weed Seeds Express : Purple Haze which was mostly sativa (Haze x Purple Thai) and Granddaddy Purple which was mostly indica (Big Bud x Purple Urkle).
Both turned out above my expectations. The plants were so healthy start to finish and yields were grand.
I'm really enjoying the GDP right now - it's fast becoming my "go to" smoke for most occasions. After a pruning session in July, I decided to take some of the GDP cuttings and see if they would sprout roots. I just dipped the ends in some powdered rooting hormone and stuck them in a solo cup with seedling soil. I watered them, put a dome on top, and stuck them under my lights. About 3 or 4 weeks latter I noticed some new growth.
I eventually transplanted them into 1/2 gallon pots and then into 3 gallon pots a few weeks later. I kept them under the lights until harvest. These buds were the frostiest buds I've grown to date, and they were rock-solid. One of them earned me "NotM" honors for December!
Here's the yield summary of which I call "bonus buds", because I didn't really expect the cuttings to root.
Soon, I plan take some samples in to a test lab near me (in Berkeley). I'm not quite sure what samples I will ultimately choose, but likely will be the two outdoor buds and some kief I recently collected using the dry ice method. I'll be sure to post once I take them in.
