Outdoor Growing With BeezLuiz

Here is the recipe, and you can scale it up or down based on how much you need:
5g citric acid
500ml distilled water
10 pipette drops dish soap
Mix well and spray, preferably first thing in the morning before the sun will be on the plant. If not, late in the day so it can evaporate before nightfall but not burn in the heat of the day.
Make sure you get the whole plant as PM can hide between the buds and the branch.

For the record, 10 pipette drops of dish soap works out to a little less than 1ml in 1500ml of water (or .3ml per 500ml)

Thanks! I forgot about the dish soap. Thought it was just distilled water and citric acid.

Sorry to hear about the persistent rot problem, hopefully, the citric acid does the trick...
I'll make a bunch of gummies and oils for them to use. So I guess I'll be busy harvesting on Sunday.
That's such a nice thing to do!
I don't think any of them have ever even tried cannabis.
At least you don't have to roll them up a bunch of fatties....:lot-o-toke:

It looks really good, but now they want to give it back to me because they don't have the energy to do a harvest, and don't really know what to do with the weed. I don't think any of them have ever even tried cannabis. :laughtwo:
So they are gonna dig it up on Sunday and I'll go there to get it. I'll make a bunch of gummies and oils for them to use. So I guess I'll be busy harvesting on Sunday.
Love that! I'm afraid I can relate! Good man Beez!

Well, I grabbed the CBD plant Sunday afternoon and began trimming as soon as I got home. Fortunately my son and daughter in-law came over to help trim. We got it all done by the end of the evening. :Rasta: It looks like maybe about 5oz once it's all dried. The old-timers were all pretty excited and grateful for the goodies I brought them: Lemon-lime gummies at about 3mg CBD per gummy; CBD coconut oil capsules at about 5mg each; and pain oil in roll-on bottles. The oil was a 50/50 mix of grapeseed and pumpkin seed oil infused with CBD and THC at approx 13mg/ml of CBD and 11mg/ml of THC. I also added aloe vera gel and peppermint oil extract. To get the aloe vera to properly mix with the oil, I added some lecithin.

Tonight is payback time as I'm going to my son's house to help him trim one or two of his plants.

Since we're expecting rain for the next few days, I decided to put a tarp over my caterpillar cage to minimize the amount of moisture the GDP buds will be exposed to. Still getting little bits of bud rot every few days. The plant doesn't seem to want to ripen fully - still looks like it needs another week or two. I don't know if it can last that long.

I'm leaving Purple Haze out to the elements as it doesn't seem affected yet with any bud rot. Its bud structure is much less dense that GDP so hopefully won't be an issue. We'll see. It also could use another week or so to ripen. The buds look a wonderful purple now. :)

Well you've been damn productive! Trimming and cooking and tarping and prepping... :welldone:

I think you should let the old folks know that they should start with a 3 gummy minimum as 3mg CBD probably won't do anything other than have a placebo effect. My wife takes one 10mg cap 3x a day for what hurts, and it took over two weeks before she felt any different. CBD takes a while to build up in the body before the anti-inflammatory effect kicks in.

Maybe they should take the roll-on stuff in capsules. :)

Dang! That was a lot of work for giving away a plant. I also hope you are justly rewarded through health and peace of mind for your gifts of kindness to those around you. I wish I could award Karma points. :Namaste:

The GDP sure is packing some serious weight on her frame and who doesn’t love a purple-Purple Haze.

Ahh what a kind thing to do- good on you for helping them like that. The amount of effort and work put in to give away, speaks volumes of who you are as a person :green_heart:

And that Purple Haze and GDP are spectacular :cheer:

Highya Beez,

I grew some purple haze one year, and they were the biggest budrot problem I had. Had to chop early because of that. Sorry to report, but I wanted you to know.

On a more positive note, give and take are great in the family. I'll help you, you help me. At least you get to see the kids some more! Hoping for very little botrytis! Happy Smokin'

Thanks for the advice, Shed! I did tell them they should take 3 or 4 at a time, but didn't really know much else about dosing, nor how long before any effect kicks in. I'll pass this info on to them. :thanks:

I do get a lot of satisfaction from helping folks ease some pain and discomfort in their lives. These folks are the parents/friends of one of my very best friends, so I would have done that regardless of the plant they gave me (which was already my plant that I gave them :laughtwo: ).

Thanks Rex, I really appreciate the sentiment. I've made these products enough times now, that I have a straight-forward recipe to follow so it's pretty easy to make - just a bit time-consuming to wait for the decarb and infuse cycles to complete.
Hey Beez - Mine are done for this year - one day I hope to get one that looks like your Purple Haze!!!:adore:
And I hope to see pictures when that happens, as I'm sure it will. :thumb:
Nice practice. :green_heart: Hope they repel the rain!
Well, so far it's repelled the rain so well, that even the streets and sidewalks are still dry! Yesterday's "big storm" just gave us some drizzle for about 10 minutes.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm inspecting closely every day because I know this time of year is unpredictable. I'm ready to start trimming as soon as things start to go sideways.

Very true! My son also invited my other son and his family to stop by last night, so not only did we have many hands for the task, my wife and I got to see and play with our (8-month old) grandson! :circle-of-love:

Sorry for the lack of updates, but last week's storm was a bit brutal on my plants and much scrambling has been taking place here. My Purple Haze got blown right off the trolley, and the caterpillar cage got blown off the Granddaddy Purple.
I managed to up-right the PH and decided that it needed to go into my garage to weather out the rest of the storm. Fortunately only some minor branch damage from its fall. It stayed in the garage for about 3 days.

The GDP got rained on a little bit after its shelter got blown away, so into my shed it went until the storm was done. Unfortunately, the bud rot began to accelerate with the added moisture and I was forced to harvest it even though I would have liked it to go another week or two.

Trichomes still had too many clear, but the plant slowed down its drinking and there were no more fresh pistil stigmas so I think it was close enough.
I smoked a tester bud a couple weeks ago and honestly it was really good - might become one of my favorites, so I don't feel too bad about harvesting it now.

My wife and I began the harvest on Tuesday afternoon.
The buds were so large and heavy it was really droopy after removing the supports. The good news: VERY LITTLE LARF! This was probably the least larfy plant I've grown to date. :yahoo:

It took 3 days to trim this one, although I only spent about 4 hours each day. I filled this pan about 5 times.

In other news, my son harvested all 6 of his plants last week - I also helped with a couple of them. I got a new phone that is supposed to take better pictures than my old phone. However, the file size is too large to be uploaded here, so I need to figure out how to handle that. The last two pics posted above were taken with that phone camera and then shrunk using photoshop. A bit too cumbersome for my preference.

Congratulations on a spectacular season with your GP and PH outdoor flowers.:green_heart:
The documentation here has been very beneficial and you took it to Mother Nature and came out on the top. A lot learned here.
There’s no doubt you have supplied yourself and family with a substantial amount of herb for the body and mind.
Also a big congrats on the kids harvest. The teachings will hopefully carry on for lifetimes.
:adore:

Highya Beez,

Sorry that you "had" to, but glad you have 5 roast pans rounded over! The end of the season can be like that here, as well! We take the stash with the budrot, so we always come out ahead. Happy Smokin'

Hey BL...great harvest. And I'm sure @Bode can help you with your phone pic issues. :cheesygrinsmiley:

 Momma Nature coming in hot with the harvest suggestion!

Looks damn near close to perfect, and 5 trays of bud is much better than 3 trays of rot. :welldone:

Absobloominlutey given the weather!

Noice!

That must have been quite the trimming session. Did you bring the bowl with you?

I have two suggestions. The first is to downscale the resolution before you take the pics next time. Phones have a setting in their cameras that will change the res to something lower for pics you're going to post, and then you just change it back for regular shooting.

Second is to get Faststone image viewer or Faststone image resizer. The resizer will batch convert and the viewer (which is my default viewer/editor) makes it easy to resize as you view them. Both are at faststone.org

I only break out Photoshop for more complicated stuff.

Hey BL, great harvest! I know it wasn't when you wanted, but 5 trays sounds awesome....looks awesome too

Hope all goes well for the PH, how much longer do you figure for her, or did you chop her too?
