I'll just drop periods all over this place til I get my post count up!! lmao
I'm pretty sure you can start a grow journal without restriction. It just needs to be in the Journals in progress section.

Drop in my thread any time if you just need post count though.

What a crap statement What's your opinion on the Bristol Bay Bullshit

IDK what Bristol Bay Bullshit is, perhaps you can enlighten me?

Bristol Bay Bullshit is about mining outfit up in Alaska. Mining can be a nasty business.. the big open pits do use some toxic chemicals to separate the gold from the host rock. It's not like using water to separate gold from rock like stratification. They are worried because of the large salmon population that migrates there. I know they do have safe guards in mining to stop spillage,, not saying it doesn't happen.

I was a fisherman all my life,, and a gold miner. Trust me,, I'd never want to see the salmon migration hampered in anyways.

But I seen alot of problems with the EPA and mining over the years... They limited the size dredge one can use in some rivers, and only had a few months outta the years season.. And they won't allow and motorized equipment in wild and scenic areas in California. We use to run an 8" dredge on the Bear River and the EPA use to come to check our settlement ponds acouple times a year. Of course, it's not like we were using any of the chemicals they used in open pit or hard rock mining mines. Matter a fact we pulled more mercury out of the rivers leftover from the 49ers' than we used to use to do final cleanups of our flour gold. And then we recovered 90% of it anyways. The other 10% was turned into vapor when we burnt it off... Use to clean out the bottom of a crevice and find a 1/2' deep puddle on mercury in the bottom.

Here they told us we needed two settlement ponds to let the suspended material to fall out before going back into the river... All the while the city of Dutch Flat was pumping some of their 'treated' sewer water in the river. The river use to be close to pristine, the rocks were clean the water clear, fish where going thru eating bugs and such outta our tailings piles, and laying eggs in the freshly turned over gravels,, but last time I was there,, the rocks were covered in algae and you'd get dysentery from drinking it, didn't see much fish at all. And even the nesting eagles we had left.....

But some of the laws they came up with were overkill... Pans only in some areas,, not even a small sluice box can be run. Because it was called a recreation area... Gold mining is a recreation too

None of this is close to what is meant by Bristol Bay Bullshit, but I do know they have alot of large mines in Cali that are producing with open pits and hard rock that has been able to work it out with the EPA... And they are on rivers that support salmon runs. They even had them returning to some of the creeks they had stop spawning in years ago.

I really don't know enough to form an opinion on it. I mean we have to safeguard our fisheries and yet we do need our natural resources too...

Thanks for the quick lesson Wood, I was not aware that chems were used to liberate gold from rocks, but then again, chems are used to liberate some hydro nutes, so it can make sense to use it for gold. But I don't comprehend what any of it has to do with my statement that dynamo called a crap statement, ie Dems making US currency rain down on the world.
