Our Ongoing Grows

Environmentalism and capitalism... it's nice to know it's on everybody's minds. One thing is we're killing the planet, I just saw a report that stated that since the 70's freshwater fauna has shrunk by 97%, which means that rivers and lakes are basically dead... and it's not like oceans and seas are doing much better. For example population of cod in northern Europe has been wiped out to such an extent, where there's NOTHING to fish basically and it'll take at least 2-3 years to grow it back to sustainable level.

Well if you're a fisherman and you can't make money on fishing, then capitalism is dead for you, isn't it... so as fisherman you should be the first to say STOP when your lifeline is in danger. This is not a matter of ideology, but common sense and even hardline capitalists should recognise it.

For me it's about sustainable development now, where your kids still know how animals and fish and insects look like. There's no future for capitalism if there's nothing to capitalise on unless you wanna start selling tickets to Mars, which I believe will become necessary anyway.

I didn' say it had anything to do with it, i thought the statement was crap and was wondering your take on other current things going on. I'm extremely sick of politics being expressed nowdays on 420.

Yeah I don't like political talk much either... maybe cause throughout my life I've tried to stay apolitical. However we're living in very angry times and you just can't dodge politics anymore.

My gripe about climate change/global warming is the lack of irrefutable proof that it is 100% man made. Where is the proof that climate change was never supposed to happen and the ice was supposed to stay locked up forever? Both sides battled the issue when Al Gore was running, but then we heard nothing about it for 20 years and all of a sudden the masses operate under the assumption that it is settled fact that climate change is manmade, and depending on the laws within the USA only will determine if humanity will endure or not. It's just way too politicized. If it were genuine, scientists would have a grassroots movement to educate all people on the web.

"sustainable development" is a term coined by Agenda 21 and cannot come to pass until the USA as a unified nation is no more. Not being an American, it might not seem that big a deal, but for all country loving Americans, this would be a big problem. Sustainable Development involves shrinking the population down to 500 million, nobody owning private property and people only living in pre-approved zones accessible by rail.

whos to backroll socialism?

The tax payers and more and more of that is coming from the middle class. Sooner or later the shit hits the fan. Our government is moving cash from the weak middle class to the lower class poor folk that need a helping hand instead of having corporate America chip in their fair share.

Our government can justify that by saying look at all you middle class people with JOBS. So hate those commie socialism people out there in Russia or where ever because they gonna take your freedom.

Thats the education of fear. We were taught that socialism was a bad thing but we have social security, welfare and health care for the elderly. Thats exactly what socialism is.

I'm not preaching socialism or capitalism they both have ups and downs. Most of the bad parts of each are based around fear/hate.

@Skybound - regarding Russia and the percevied social structure where there was only 1 class - that's complete bullshit they were teaching us that crap in school. If you wanted to get a good job and an education, it was paid for by the state. Then it was up to the individual if they wanted to do more with their life - free education. In Russia they value education. You have more of it you have a better job. They also have avenue for people to become an entrepreneur, you could do that too.

Several of the richest people in the world are Russian. So there's plenty of opportunity.

There was never a single class system in Russia. It was Peasants and Monarchy then after the Great October Social Revolution they had a socialist state. That scared our government. Again fear... lets educate the common man to hate Communism (socialism). Where we are today. Must fear socialism, well until you reach retirement age.

Peasant state:
We are headed there in the USA but instead of Monarchy it will just be the uber rich and the rest of us. Weaker and weaker middle class as the poor get more of the middle class money. Thats not a good plan for peace. Maybe why we are seeing all the violence. Specially the middle class white guy that cant afford and education, cant get a job and feels threatened by the new world order.

If you really think about it we are heading back to the 1800s while the rest of the world is starting to realize it takes a tribe. We dont have a good history with tribes here in America.

Hey good dope will keep ya alive for a long time.. And I'm not talking speed or coke,,, but I sure seen alot of old heroin addicts but he's one of the oldest. He damn sure might be completely embalmed by now.....

Clone his liver. I think he's part Scottish or something. lol

On the greenhouse gas thing - I herd that growing food is 1/3 of human input to green house gas emissions.

We Americans could probably as a society go on a proper diet. Prolly wouldn't help. But they did blame corporate farming to some degree.

They were saying 1/4 # of beef per week per person. Say what? Tell that to my dogs. They laugh at you. See how quick they get at the table.

Kinda have to laugh at that. Again more education of fear.

Think I'm gonna grill up .... wait ..... salmon steak imported from Norway (another Monarchy) tonight. lol I feel better already.

I think they fly the salmon in fresh too. Pretty sure they do. How can I afford that?
There must be some subsidy somewhere. Same with food we grow.

How about the Farm Bill - if thats not socialism nothing is. Wait till they get a hold of our weed.

If anyone got this far google this: "State extension service hemp"

Report back - its a good one.

The path to legalization may not be the path we thought of. There will still exist prohibition.

As long as you have money (upper class) you can grow weed. Its here its coming. Probably on the back of Monsanto. They drive the Ag Bill.

GMO hemp --> patent on GMO hemp --> genetics mix with our high THC weed --> patent infringement --> local farmer looses everything.

Why I wont ever get a liscence to smoke weed.

I’m not really a truther or a conspiracy theorist, which often sets me apart from other folks in cannabis community... I just don’t see any proof where others see ridiculous stuff.

I didn’t really mention climate change, cause I know how political the issue has become and although there is 98% non-political consensus on it there are still people who will refute it for political or religious reasons... not much chance of a real discussion, which is why I rarely do it.

What I mentioned though is a destruction of natural environment by human species. Does someone really wanna refute the destruction of biological diversity??? Who’s killing elephants in Botswana? Fuckin’ seals or squirrels? Who’s fished the tuna till total depletion? Cats and dogs? One thing I can’t really deal with is fact deniers. We’re just making obvious things open for a political debate now? And then what, we’re gonna introduce flat earth theory to our schools or maybe present calculus as a Masonic conspiracy? 2+2=5?

Just because mankind alters the environment does not mean that climate shifts are our fault. And if it genuinely IS our fault, why is it that world scientists are not speaking in unison that GW/CC is real, it is manmade and every nation MUST adopt practices to halt the damage? It's kind of difficult to buy any stock in GW/CC because only a certain group of people (not scientists) are pushing this narrative, and I also cannot help but notice that it is usually pushed in the form of emotional manipulation. You yourself just cited dead animals and their ruined habitats to convince me climate change is a man made event. A link to irrefutable facts and test results and bipartisan studies, and valid reasons why the tests and calibrations must continually be re-calibrated to force the test results to to resolve in a politically beneficial way would have been more appropriate to debate with.

No I haven't linked climate change to that at all...

I am 420% an "environmentalist" in that I believe we need to maintain our planet and should not be polluting our environment.

But, I have researched this quite a bit and man-made climate change, IMHO, is a scam. Labelling CO2 as a pollutant is ridiculous. Man's effect on global temperature certainly isn't zero, but it's nothing compared to solar activity. All the BS climate models from the UN are flawed and the people who believe the "science is settled" obviously have no background in science. I do acknowledge that, if you were to plot global temp's on a chart, since the last ice age, the trend would be warming.

But, there are periods in history that pre-date man's use of fossil fuels where global temps were significantly higher (see "Medieval Warm Period" ). Usually these are left out of the charts to show the trend they want (a technique called "truncating the X-axis"!), which distorts the real data.

The people who freak out about CO2 emissions seem to have no issues with the real poisons we put in the food supply, water, vaccines, medicines, cleaning products, etc.

Being a good steward of the environment is important, but don't fall for the politics designed to extort taxes and further enrich people who are already rich. :Namaste:

I think these are the most politically charged times we've had in along ass time. I myself am guilty of that. And I'm not one who follows it to closely. IF I had my say about one thing,, I don't think a President should be tweeting anything. Especially Trump. He talks before thinking and tends to put his foot in his mouth alot. He's being studied with a maga'flier.

Global Warming. @Mr. Krip I too agree man-made pollutants might have had an effect alittle.. Very little.

Was a period of time we might have kicked it up a notch,, like the industrial revolution days.. Hell every country was spitting up black clouds from the smokestacks that were there by the 1,000's. In every country. If we wood have kept on like this till today??????

But the earth goes thru cycles of warming and cooling. Polar caps grow and we had an ice age,,, and then shrink when we have a warm stage. I do know alot of misfacts out there around it and it's become a political thing now... Are our polar caps shrinking from temp rise,, yes,, are we responsible for it? No the worlds have been doing this cycle since dawn of it's time........

Besides temps are the lowest I ever seen since moving here.. Bearly got any use outta the pool this year... I could've used alittle warming around here...

Yea @conradino23 I agree 100% and feel we should all be more careful how we tread on earth. And like the cod,, which was unregulated fishery at the time, they did damn near wipe them out. Cod from the north Atlantic fed the world for awhile. And Black bear use to be so popular in Arkansas that is was named the first 'Bear State' but then were about hunted out for use as oil for lights as such. But now they are coming back, along with the Elk due to regulated hunts and fees from hunting licenses. Cod are slowly recovering. I think we have learned that we need to manage our resources. Take Bluefin,, sure there are illegal fishing going on. But we been starting to put limits on catches from the commercial down to the recreational. And no one more than the Sportsman, wants to see game wiped out.

Appreciate the offers for post count & nudges in the right direction from everyone. Im digging it here.

Yeah we pretty laid back even when talking bs politics. No cry baby shits here.

Mother Nature has WAAY more to do with it. Think about the how much CO2 is tied up in the frozen tundra. We start to see a meltdown there, any CO2 humans make will pale in comparison. Rudiment animals have us beat.

Warming & cooling trends happen, we hoo-mans are a contributor to green house gas and toxic waste. There's no argument there.

Should we try to change that to something better.

Yeah you bet - we are possibly; that we know of:

the only living organisms on the planet that know how to make a change. We should understand that and make it our goal to leave as small a footprint as possible.

We could make a higher bar and leave this place better than it was when we showed up. That'd be something to be proud of.

Hoo-mans: make the world a better place!

Wood ya?

Ok weed:
