Environmentalism and capitalism... it's nice to know it's on everybody's minds. One thing is we're killing the planet, I just saw a report that stated that since the 70's freshwater fauna has shrunk by 97%, which means that rivers and lakes are basically dead... and it's not like oceans and seas are doing much better. For example population of cod in northern Europe has been wiped out to such an extent, where there's NOTHING to fish basically and it'll take at least 2-3 years to grow it back to sustainable level.
Well if you're a fisherman and you can't make money on fishing, then capitalism is dead for you, isn't it... so as fisherman you should be the first to say STOP when your lifeline is in danger. This is not a matter of ideology, but common sense and even hardline capitalists should recognise it.
For me it's about sustainable development now, where your kids still know how animals and fish and insects look like. There's no future for capitalism if there's nothing to capitalise on unless you wanna start selling tickets to Mars, which I believe will become necessary anyway.
