OMM's Social Network Part 3

Thanks for explaining it Mando. I know all about newbie mistakes, I may even hold the record for the most around here..lol.. And you're not to blame for feeling comfortable here, OMM has that effect on people. Also a reason why I am a bit over protective of him but he is good people. The very best.

Thank You my Queen, you are a true friend.

Mando, I can only say sorry.....I thought you were telling me what to do......ya young whipper snapper. I remember talking to you before and you telling me you had read all my stuff. It was a mistake on my part totally. I hope you will except my apology. :Namaste:

Talk about someones dirt,,,,,,,,,,,, thems is fighting words. We are all creatures of habit and resist changes, but lending to the phase, if it ain't broke don't f with it. And them youngsters look as happy as any, anywhere around. Looks like it working great to me. Don't get Pop's all rilled up, y'all don't what that 'Old Hillbilly' on the feud. Some people get lost up there in them Ozarks Mountians and never come out. Especially the ones talking bout a man's dirt. Well Keepem Green 'Y'all'

I just want to point out that the entire discussion on dirt is a great reason to consider hydro! :)

This is my favorite post of this discussion.

IB 3 pages of madness

I like talking politics, if I can bad-mouth them. Religion too, if I can be the damned preacher. I have attytoods about child-rearing, but nobody wants to hear those. Anyone wants to grow weed, they can use whatever they want but... Just grow all my food in dirt and I'm good ;)

No problem OMM. My approach may have been wrong. I intended to give you and others another ideas for an experiment you might want to try, as I've seen you do experiments and improvements throughout your grows. It was certainly not meant to be a critism of your current methods at all. Thing is, I haven't seen a lot of discussion on the site overall about soil science, now I know why:Namaste:

:bravo: That's too funny.....I hope you enjoyed all the comments about soil as I did. People are great.

If you haven't been to their journals yet, I highly commend a look into Doc Bud, Gittergreen, and Vapedogg223. They are they cutting edge of soil to me. :peace:

Thanks for the tips. I've seen Doc Bud's stuff, but not the others. I'll check them out. I've been a bit hesitant to post on Doc Bud's journal.

Hell, most of us are. He doesn't tolerate stupid. :high-five:

He tolerates stupid as long as you play by his rules.....just kidding. He really has it dialed in, yet keeps on trying to get it better every day.

Oh, by the way OMM, the new plants are looking great. Glad to see you back in the saddle. Keep doing what yer doing....

I know he is tireless at looking for perfection.

Hey Thanks my friend.......feels good to be sprouting a few. If I can, I'm going to veg em a while longer this time. Depends on the light bill.

Truth be known, I haven't posted on his journal as his emphasis is different then mine. He's developed a kit to be used with a certain brand of soil for a substrate to make it easy for others to duplicate. I totally get and respect that. I'm not sure I would agree on his choice of substrate, but I understand why he is using a readily available soil mix. What I use is not easily found and has to be mixed at home. Since our goals are different, it's one conversation I don't want to have with him since his choice aligns perfectly with what he is trying to accomplish.

Aloha OMM! :surf:

I've been super busy at home and a little under the weather lately, so I'm way behind. I'm still way behind, but I had to quick say hello! Now, to get caught up...

:reading420magazine:

Well ... it got intense in here :cheesygrinsmiley: Holy Soil Batman! I am glad you are OK now OMM, I had never seen you flare up before!! I got nothing but pine all around me!!! :cheesygrinsmiley: so I was kinda getting into it a bit. As I was thinking on it I looked over at my orchids and what do you know? They are in bark and if anybody wants to try this, soil for orchids is basically bark and it is easy to get. The problem for OMM, me and others that have a hard time watering already is it would mean extra vigilance and work. I got some coco that I have not run just because of the extra-everything!! :cheesygrinsmiley: I am lucky to still be able to get happy frog and do... but... I wonder if it is not a source of some of my fungus gnat problems and the last run had mold (maybe some of the reasons it is not on the Island?) I looked into the soil you are running OMM and it looks pretty sweet, they have a pile of choices, I think the one they had was a lot like ocean forest. I am still on the lookout for a replacement to happy frog not because of the product but because of the way I was treated by Foxfarm.

OMM ... rock :allgood: on! :green_heart:

Buckshot: One thing I found about a bark based soil it is much more tolerant of high pH/ high solid water due to flushing and natural acidity. I used to use RO water with commercial soil mixes, but was able to switch to tap water with the 5-1-1. That might be a bonus for anyone that uses RO water now that might want to try it in a pot or two :thumb:
