Oldsmokey Goes Hydro

I was talking to @McRib from New Zealand the other day... I guess they don't have anything to keep water from going pollywog and was looking for advice. I put him in contact with someone I talk to on occasion from somewhere else that was using enzymes to keep ponds clear. I haven't heard how thats turning out.
Hey mate, I'm actually from a little island near NZ called Australia :surf:

I've been using the pond zymes and Great White and my roots are going great guns so far, in week 3 from flip. I haven't had any high res temps to deal with yet though...

Day 9 veg update
Good day everyone :ciao:

This morning a small issue started. I noticed a lower leaf with some rust around the edge. I lifted the pot and the roots didn't look good at all brown a limp. 2 days ago when I changed out the reservoir I added Enzyme Komplete at .25 strength new product I haven't used before. I going to say the plants are not liking it at all. So I have drained and flushed out system refilled and juiced it back up without the enzyme Komplete. Hopefully this will straighten things out.

Grow room temp 76F humidity 54%
Reservoir temp 60F
Added 400ml part 1 & 2
TDS 790
Added 84ml ph down
pH 5.8

So that's it for now hopefully these roots start looking better there were perfect 2 days ago.

Grow On Stay Medicated :yummy::blunt:
they look sexy. Is that a GG in one of the containers? I can recall those fat leaves.
In canada there is z9 or hydrozyme. As mentioned you can also use hydroperoxide. You could get the 3% or the 99%.
If you go with the 99% route make sure to dilute it properly or it will kill the roots.

got ya, the fat leaves throw me off.

I keep doing that to you dont I. So sorry. My only excuse is I smoke copious amounts of pot and very close to legally retarded.

Glad to hear you found an answer. Water temps will be the test. If you have issues, and don't want to invest in a chiller I may have an answer for you... unless we already discussed it and I forgot all about it of course.

Do you guys think temps will be ok in a bubble bucket sitting on cement floor in my cold basement during winter
Sure. But you don't want your water temps to go much below 63F. Your plants will grow slowly, and never find the elusive second gear. But, put them on a pallet or something and you should be just fine... as long as the rest of the environment is right

In my tents I use 2" foamboard between floor and tray. Room and tents run around 72 - 76 degrees
Are your floor surface temps much cooler than the air temp? As long as your water is between 63ish and 70ish you're gold. Ive had it colder on occasion. The plants just take a nap. No permanent damage or anything, so if they hit 60 for a couple days its not a deal breaker, you're just loosing a little time. Temps over 73 can be a real problem. Not only is the chance for death by slime higher, but the ability for water to keep dissolved oxygen held in suspension is greatly lessened. So a high water temp can suffocate your plant if your airpump isn't what it needs to be.

I think you're good dude.

Thanks brother :D Cement is a lot colder than room temps. Ill have to try it both ways to see what's closer to correct temps. I like using plastic risers too. Gets them another inch or 2 away from floor

No sweat man.

I had the same concern and put the pots on plastic pop crates there about 4-5" off the floor. I also have what I call a snorkel in the res and control the level of water in the pots with it. I think you should be okay with the Styrofoam insulation under your tent.
