OldMedMan's 2nd Grow 5 Strains and AirPots

Yes, your little ones are old like mine. :yahoo:
I'm really imagining your strawberry like mine.
:peace: from the italian's hidden plants
And good job buddy

Hey Super:grinjoint:

I hope your Strawberry is even larger than mine.

I hope to see The Italian's Strawberry soon! LOL

Peace Bro. :peace:

For tender plants they recommend a "special" better draining compost. I think your plain foxfarms would be fine (sifted or not). You might sift the stuff you will pack into the airpot holes but I think it will work either way. I wouldn't add perlite like you would with a normal pot.

Just my two cents OMM.

:peace: and much Aloha.

Omg Napa!!! loved to party up in Napa county. Practically lived at Clear lake one summer, fishing every night for huge catfish. Partying like it was my vocation.

Yea, loved Napa. It's too big and commercial now. And I have two exes that live there now. Lived up in Yountville, before it too became commercial. A good year that was....A pound was about 300 back then.:smokin2:

A valuable 2 cents worth, High Of course would be much less work using FFOF without the sifting.:cheertwo: Lazy OMM.

Much Aloha back at you.

I lived in Monterey for two years.

I'd fish off the rocks at Monterey Bay a lot for rockfish. Only problem there was that sometimes you'd hook a fish but only reel in a fish head after the seals got done, lol.

I watched the video and I don't like packing pots tight like that. It may be necessary in order to fill in all the voids in the air pots, but I'd add at least 25-33% perlite to the FFOF if I was gonna pack it tight like that. Actually, I'd add that much perlite to it no matter what container I was going to use it in.

The bag of FFOF I bought for my current grow had very few sticks and large pieces of stuff. You could screen it with the 1/4" screen and get the sticks, but I'd force as much of it as possible through the screen because that stuff isn't cheap.

Can't wait to see how those pots work out!

Ya for sure brings back good memorys. Reminds me of this guy(friend of a friend) that would always come out with us. Every time, he would get drunk, pass out and then wake up under water cuz the tide came in. Was so freaking hilarious. He would get all but hurt at us every time for not waking him up but his reaction was just to damn funny to pass up. I miss the warm nights and the good times but i don't miss cali at all.
That's hilarious, I can envision it.
And I was on the American river Cat fishing :rasta: Lived it Napa 7 years. Benicia 3, west sactown 3, Monterey 3. Bzerkley 1.
Wow you've lived all over the area! I used to visit all those places doing deliveries in the truck. Benicia, isn't that by Mare Island? Monterey and Carmel were always great places to visit. I'd also get down to see the races at Laguna Seca. Used to like riding my GS1100 down that way. Saw Clint Eastwood at his Hog's Breath Inn in Carmel once.

I'd go with #1 and if you do use perlite, make sure that you have very tiny pieces (I don't think you would need it really). You wouldn't want to clog up those holes with it.

I would listen to Setting Sun OMM and not me! I just figured that it would defeat whatever purpose those pots give you by clogging the holes up. I defer though to better minds.

I would say option #1, it will let you keep the perlite(i would break up the bigger chunks so you keep as much of it as you can) and get rid of the wood. Wood is bad from what i have read and been told. As it decomposes it leaches nitrogen. I would keep a good perlite ratio as you cant have to much oxygen for your roots can you? Just my .02 cents. Well .00002 cents adjusted for inflation.

Those plants look great. Looks like you got mostly similar pheno's.

Damn good idea Nic I could get rid of the wood, bark, and sticks by hand as I broke up the soil. I sure don't need an N destroyer.
Thanks for your .00002 cents worth.

I called my partner that actually is in Spain, he told me all much fine about the girls.
I will try to come to see the plants this week-end too!
I don't think my strawberry more larger than your but i hope just she's fine.

It looked to me like the idea was to pack it in tightly enough so that all the little voids would get filled up, but I don't think that would block oxygen from getting through. The FFOF has smaller particles than most perlite, but air will still get through.

I'd research it some more before making a decision.

Does the company say anything about adding perlite, or provide any other info as far as how to pot them?

I did remove the few sticks in my bag of FFOF by hand when I broke it up, and that wasn't a lot of work. There weren't that many.

I think the perlite question would be worth investigating, because if those pots drain better and provide more oxygen to the roots, you might not need the perlite and the plants would love the complete nute package in the unaltered FFOF.

Hi Sun,
Didn't know you lived there too. Gotta watch those seals.:surf: I really lucked out there. I had a redwood house right on the sand at Del Monte Beach. Could watch the dunes move around every few days because of the wind. Could hear the Sea Lions barking at night. My two sons and I would run down and jump in that cold, cold water everyday. Bruuuur! Wake Up!

Back to business. I didn't like the pressing of the soil either. My FFOF always seems to have logs in it for some reason, so out they come, as I break it up.
The reason I mentioned that I had a bag of very small perlite, was just in case I wanted to add more. I agree, more sounds good to me too.

I don't know if you remember, but long ago you and I talked about these AirPots. Ever since then, I've wanted to try them.
Once again Bro, thanks for your input. I value your opinions as you know. ;)

Mare Island is bit west in Vallejo. I went with a little redhead from around there and she was a trip. We were talking one night and she told me about her ex husband. He was in the navy and she found out he was screwing around in every port in Asia. She told me "I got him back, I slept with a hundred guys before he came back!" Gleep!:grinjoint:

Man, your putting me down memory lane. My youngest son worked at Clint's
restaurant and the first time he met him he was in the wine cellar making out with one of the waitresses. Clint came down and said "So this is what you do when I'm not here!". Never said anything else about it to either of them. Scared the crap out of my son though.:yikes::yikes:

Watched a few Bike races at Laguna Seca. Teeth, hair and eye balls all over the place! :smokin2:

I agree about being careful about filling the holes with soil only. Thanks for your input.:reading420magazine:

Hi Sun.
I couldn't find any more about packing the pots. There are several places that sell them, but its like the company line at every sight. I may have to put one pot out for a small test run, before committing them all. What do you think? Damn this is fun.:grinjoint:

No problem friend, this is a discussion. :grinjoint:

And I was on the American river Cat fishing :rasta: Lived it Napa 7 years. Benicia 3, west sactown 3, Monterey 3. Bzerkley 1.

We stayed in Monterey in 87. Right on the bay in a big flash motel that was organised for us. Dad's car team were racing at Laguna Seca. He and David Brabham were the drivers. We were there for 6 weeks. We spent a lot of time in Sonoma while testing and using a workshop at Sears Point. We stayed in Longbeach for a while too. We visited a mate of Dads raceshop in Compton. Driving there was a bit freaky. Wind up the windows and dont look at anyone. Then we drove from LA to Memphis. The day we left it was stinkin hot and we blew the rental trucks engine 3hrs after we left. We also had a van and we had to turn around and go back to Budget in Van Nuys pick up another truck and drive back. Then we had to back one truck up to the other and do a load swap of 2 racecars and all our gear. Fun and games for a 16yr old I tell ya. It's a beautiful place that Sonoma Valley. Got a lot o crazy stories from that trip.:grinjoint::peace:

Here's my 2cents mate.
I think you should clean the big chunks of sticks and stuff out of the soil. When you fill them you should try to pack all the airpot's pointy bits around the outside with mostly soil and then fill in the centre with the perlite and soil that way you'll kinda get the best of both worlds. Trying one is always a good idea IMO:grinjoint::peace:

I know exactly where you are talking about. Damn, David Brabham, you traveled in good circles. Your Dad must have been something. 16 years old. What an adventure. Driving in SoCal hasn't changed much, only worse, so I hear. I think you had one of those days, that you would remember for ever.
Sonoma is so beautiful. The whole thing sounds like a trip to Disney Land.:grinjoint: Tell you what Buddy, for someone not too old, you've lived your life well. Keep it up. Waiting for you to get here on your yacht, once you find it.:cheertwo:

Thanks mate, I do believe that is what I'll do. Everything is starting to point that way. Now, I got to see which one is going to be the crash test dummy.:smokin2::smokin2::smokin2:

You could always start a new seed . Papaya maybe. I know you got your limit but aren't they changing soon??

We went to Disneyland too. I've lived a pretty rich and varied life so far that's for sure. I had some lucky opportunities when I was young. I've also done stand-up and played in a band. I've made a lot of my own adventure too. The bug bites man and I just have to go. I left Sydney with 50cents and 1/2 a loaf of bread when I left to go to Nth Queensland.
A week later I was kickin back in the tropics with a big fat spliff.:thumb:

Oh i noticed you said you haven't figured multi-quoting. Click the multi-quote " thingy on the posts you want to quote and on the last post you want to quote you click both the multi-quote " and quote thingies. Hope this helps mate:peace"

Groover to tell the truth I don't want to wait that long to grow a new plant:smokin2::smokin2:

We went to Disneyland too Might have guessed that!:cheertwo:

I feel like I have things going right now and I want to keep rolling. Impatience is raising it ugly face to me. :smokin2::smokin2:

Stand Up way cool, man. Should have known that.:yahoo:
Yeah, just gotta go sometimes. Amazing how you can bump into good things along the way.:grinjoint: Ah, those were the days and I still have them tucked away, so I can pull them out and play with them again.
Nth Queensland to the tropics. Oh! Yeah!
So there are two reasons to be at the march on the 1st. To spread the good word and to enjoy a mini adventure. :rasta:

Thanks for the tips on multiple quotes.:thankyou:
Man, it took forever to write this note.:grinjoint:
