I'm smokin some Blackjack I grew. Mostly sativa. Nice Buzz and a stupid maker.:rofl:

Day 48 of Veg.

Here is the ready AirPot waiting for the crash test dummy to be planted.:grinjoint:

As you can see I cut the center out so the tap root could grow right out of the bottom.:slide:

Note to groover: How's that Hole Buddy?

hole1.JPG

Here is a top view of the pot after I had pressed the soil into the holes in the sides and bottom.:rasta:
pressed1.JPG

Once I finished the pressing, I checked how much soil was pushed out of the bottom. Nothing like I had exspected.:cheertwo:
debree.JPG

Here is a side shot of the pot after packing. Notice the soil and perlite sticking out of the holes. :ganjamon:
closepacked.JPG

So the pot is ready and I filled the bottom of the pot with more soil.:slide:
ready.JPG

Here is the plant and pot ready to go.:slide:
ready_wplant.JPG

And here is the potted plant. :yummy:
planted.JPG

Here she is in her place outside. You will notice a bit of water (the dark area of the soil). I only put water on the actual seem where the old and new soil met. I added just a hair of Superthrive to the water for some B-1 to help the roots to take hold. :grinjoint:
planted_water.JPG

While I was out on the patio, I notice the Bubblelicious had some nice buds developing so I took a couple of shots of her too.:hippy:

And here's a bud with a little snow.:ganjamon:

So the experiment is on and all we can do is wait to see what happens.:cheertwo:

Aloha OMM!!!

Girls are looking pretty and so does that airpot! I am seriously thinking about getting some now (down the road).

What did her roots look like, were they the problem? Or is that a sensitive girlie?

:peace:

Great step by step OMM.
I am really surprised there wasn't more dirt left over too.
After those close ups, those holes are quite a bit smaller then i thought they were as well. I'm excited for ya buddy, i have a hunch that thing is going to take off.

Aloha my friend.

Much Aloha back High:grinjoint:
Glad you like girls and the AirPot.:slide:
Good thing your thinking of down the road, you can see if these work as well as they look.:grinjoint:

You know, her roots were not bad at all (surprise) she was not root bound at all. Fact she was dry so I actually gently shook her and some of the old soil just fell off. Which I like when re-potting a plant. The roots seem to take faster that way. Tomorrow or the next day I will water her with pH'ed water only.
So she maybe like you said "A sensitive girl".:hippy:

I just love experiments! :bravo:

Those pots look uber-cool and the idea seems sound enough. Would be a bitch getting her out of there to put in a bigger pot but I gather that that's her home for the duration.

When I transplant I pre-moisten the new soil to the point that it clumps up when a hand full is lightly squeezed. Then prepare the new pot and soak the whole thing down good using low level nutes with some Thrive after the plant is in place. Or using a bread knife cut the root ball down to about a third size and put it back in the same pot with new soil. With the kind of nutes we use the plants could grow a lot more plant if it wasn't wasting so much energy growing unnecessary roots.

Like right now my mum probably has roots winding all around the root ball and the ball itself is likely only 1/4 full of roots. If I chop off most of them and re-pot the next root ball will be saturated with roots except for the top couple of inches. I'll have to do a little pictorial of a re-pot to illustrate what I'm talking about.

Your girls are sure looking great and I'll wager you'll be getting sick off trimming before your done with your next crop!

Good luck and good growing OMM! :joint:

C'ya L8r ya old fart! :thumb:

Hi Nic Thanks for the compliment. I try to keep things simple yet covering each step along the way. Used to bug me when people just showed you the end product, not the actual steps to get there.
I hope she does enjoy the :yahoo:first 12/12 of her life. It's OK with me if she does take off.:thumb:

Hey LabRat Good to see you out and about.:cheertwo:

You are right they do look kinda like space age stuff, leave it to the Brits to be cool. Yes that's her final home. Replanting out of there would be a nightmare
I think we are on the same track as far as replanting goes. With FFOF it is already moistened and will clump in your hand, like you were saying.
I had my serrated knife ready to cut into the root ball, but didn't need it. She had a very small root ball??? In fact I thought she was going to be root bound, but she wasn't. The reason I did not add any nutes is because FFOF has nutes already in the soil. Enough to last up to 4 weeks. Thats why I only added a bit of superthrive in the meeting seam of the new and old soil. I also darkened the garage when I transplanted to avoid any light from hitting the roots.
However a look at your tutorial would be a benefit to me and allot of other folks.
Lab I sure hope your right about the trimming.:cheertwo:
What do ya mean? Old Fart! Guilty:surf:

Good job, OMM. Let's see how she works! Is that a 5 gal pot? I'd be curious to see how it drains after she takes a regular feed or water.

Hello My friend Woodsman Thanks. Your right, lets see if they work.

The pots are 14 liters or 3.7 gallons. They look and in my opinion are a bit larger than that. Earlier in this journal I put a 4 gallon pot completely into one of the AirPots just to see if it could fit. It fit totally inside. Go figure!
I think I will be watering these pots more than a regular pot because they are supposed drain better. I hope so, because I should see faster results from feeding or correcting something wrong. That's my theory anyway. :surf:

That black air pot is sexy - in a futuristic carbon fiber sorta way. Frank Zappa comes to mind. I tried to read and see how much they are. How much are they - cause they look like a great idea for an outdoor grow or indoor with a flood table. Also - did you do all the cutting or were those store bought? Sorry if all this stuff is in the journal.

Hi Papa Yea I covered it earlier, but I don't mind going over it again for you and others who just tuned in. I could only find the pots in England at the time. They were invented there and have been in use for years there. They were originally used out doors, but now inside too.
Here is a link that tells you how to put them together and how to put the soil in them.

Mine were close out pots, so I got a good price and ordered 6 of them. The total cost of the pots, including shipping from England to Hawaii was just under $100.00 dollars, so that wasn't bad in my mind. They have been fun to play with and now we will see if they work. :ganjamon::ganjamon:

Great journal Sir! Tuned in to see how these AirPots work and because you have a nice line up of genetics. Keep up the good work, stay healthy, enjoy life, and Mahalo!:goodjob::peace:
