OldMedMan's 2nd Grow 5 Strains and AirPots

Nicademus it gets easier and easier to kill males as you do more grows. I still rememeber one I did on a isle in the Sacramento River delta. I had like 30 plants going. I had even fixed a good watering system where all I had to do was turn the pump on for a half hour every 3rd day. Back then there was alot of heat on the delta a outfit called C.A.M.P.. The use to fly them one man planes all over taking pic's of the islands, so I didn't want to do alot of foot traffic. I had 'thought' I got the males out a month earlier. Well cops raided a island a 1/4 mile down river so ALL I did was sneak in and water. Well crop got seeded never the less to say. I sure wish I'd have seen the 3 or 4 males back then. Seeded my whole little island. Even ruined it for future grows. There were coming up every year on their own. I spent alot of time on that island, cutting back the brush setting up irgation system and all the good soil I brang in boat load by boat load. I bet today there is weed on that island.

What a cool story.:thumb: I know the boat load thing only too well. I lived on a little yacht for a while. I bet there's a few still growing on various islands in The Whitsundays. I loved living on that thing. New backyard everyday and when they're beautiful places like Whitehaven Beach it makes life such a joyous and wonderful thing. Gotta gotta get another vessel. Glad to hear you evicted those boys OMM:thumb: :grinjoint::peace:

I bet it still hurts to destroy one of your children. I made my wife pull the one male i got so far. I couldn't bring myself to do it. Sometimes I'm such a softy.RoorRip

Yep, hard to do. However males are not my favorites at all. They can really screw up a grow, so it gets easier as you along. SOB's are usually the best looking and best growing ones.:smokin2::smokin2:

You've done a lot of reading and homework, so that's gonna pay off on this and all your future grows.

You seem to be someone who goes through life with eyes and ears open, taking what you want and leaving the rest. I try to do the same and it's worked well for me.

Your confidence isn't false, or arrogance, but the results of the footwork you've put in.

There are very few hills I choose to die on these days ;)

Thanks Sun I think your statements applies to both of us, Buddy:grinjoint:

Some hills just aren't worth the trouble.:smokin2:

After my second grow, hermiville,...chopping a male wouldn't require much emotion anymore....Lilbit doesn't have alot of seeds, but other two girls bottom buds are full of them and are they ever mature (good thing, I hate little immature seeds worse).

Aloha OMM

OMM,

The plants are still looking great! +rep!

Will you be putting them in the ground to finish?

If you only knew how many seeds I have from medical bagseed crosses...no way will I keep a strain I KNOW is hermi :grinjoint:. Even if they taste like heaven. That was too stressful and I have legit strains now to play with, just like you. I might keep some of Tess's seeds, but use that crater requirement to keep them, I noticed she had both types when I pulled a few. Then try one of them and see if it hermi's, if it doesn't then I will keep them.

BTW those are some happy looking girls bro, when do you go to the airpots? :reading420magazine: I am interested in seeing the variables of how they hold water, etc. You gonna thin out your soil with perlite for them? Or because of how they work, maybe you shouldn't...I don't know. Will be interesting to see.

Rambling minds would like to know...:grinjoint:

Aloha
and :peace: from the warm but soon to be cold mountains. ;)

Hi friend, welcome to my grow.
They will be put in AirPots and then outside. :grinjoint:

Wooops, wasn't thinking right. Hermi seeds are no seeds at all. I hope Tess's
are good. I forgot that you had all those others seeds my friend.:smokin2:

As far as the AirPots go, I will plant in them soon as I veg a bit more. I am hoping to get them as big as I can, then put them in the AirPots and hope they double or triple in size. Going for it this time.

In a few minutes I am going to ask everyone some questions about my AirPots
and just how I should use them. There are some unanswered questions about them for me, so I was hoping to get everyone's input before I go on. After a good discussion, I'll go with what sounds best. :grinjoint:

Aloha from the even colder Islands.

Dude, we might have run into each other at some time or other. Small ass world but i used to fish the same places. I lived there from 92-95. I lived in Oak Park =/

Lived on the SF Peninsula until '91 then to the Great Northwest! Small world indeed! Spent many an overnight on the Delta, fishing the sloughs listening for a bell to ring, and smoking the best pot I've ever had!

Yes, your little ones are old like mine. :yahoo:
I'm really imagining your strawberry like mine.
:peace: from the italian's hidden plants
And good job buddy

Hi All Been waiting until I moved closer to the AirPot plantings to ask what your thoughts are on how to proceed.

Please take a look at the following video. It is actually two connected videos.
The first part is how to put them together, which you already have seen me do.
The second part of the vid is what I would like you to watch. It is how to pack the soil into the pots.

As you can see, they press the soil in hard to remove air pockets. The soil is just that, Soil. I saw no perlite, wood chips, or anything else. The AirPots get air from the top, all sides and the bottom and they say it will allow water and air to flow smoothly through the soil.

I will give you my 2 cents worth now. First I am using FFOF soil, which has perlite, large sticks, and chips of wood. I have a 1/4 inch screen that I can use as a filter to remove the wood chips and larger pieces of perlite. I also have a bag of very small perlite I could add if need be.

My real question is this:

1. Do I filter everything out of the FFOF with the screen and go with that.
2. Leave the FFOF as is and take my chances.
3. Buy a different soil with nothing in it but soil. Might be hard to find.
4. your suggestions.

I thank you all for looking at the vid and your take on what to do.:grinjoint:

Ya for sure brings back good memorys. Reminds me of this guy(friend of a friend) that would always come out with us. Every time, he would get drunk, pass out and then wake up under water cuz the tide came in. Was so freaking hilarious. He would get all but hurt at us every time for not waking him up but his reaction was just to damn funny to pass up. I miss the warm nights and the good times but i don't miss cali at all.

I would say option #1, it will let you keep the perlite(i would break up the bigger chunks so you keep as much of it as you can) and get rid of the wood. Wood is bad from what i have read and been told. As it decomposes it leaches nitrogen. I would keep a good perlite ratio as you cant have to much oxygen for your roots can you? Just my .02 cents. Well .00002 cents adjusted for inflation.

Those plants look great. Looks like you got mostly similar pheno's.

Omg Napa!!! loved to party up in Napa county. Practically lived at Clear lake one summer, fishing every night for huge catfish. Partying like it was my vocation.
