Day #12

All cool unlike my body - its been sweltering again, plus I slept later than I have in years.

Rosin, its a powerful thing, its a powerful thing.

Anyway same mix different day. I really need more boost or explode. Got to get on that tomorrow. Also going swag buying. Forty-45 stuff. I can drop some stuff for printing on and get them back by Monday. That’ll be fun.

The photos were taken by the new Media Manager for the grow. She uses a Samsung phone rather than an iPhone like me. The colour gamut and angles a little different. Glad to giving her a little more responsibility on the grow

Scrolling down the thread to post this I saw Day #10 photos. The sativa’s need light raising first thing tomorrow. They are in mega stretch. Reckon across the 21 plants they’ve gone 2-3” in two days. The Strawberries a little slower. The Indys more in the middle. Look great right now and so much airflow low and light even with the bare look they’re sporting this early summer stretch season.

Good times. The environment is now perfect. A little too cool perhaps. See what happens in later flower but its steady 62% Rh now - I think as the plants change it will come down 10-12% to 50% without me changing anything. I have plenty of Rh control in hand to get it down if not.

7 weeks to harvest for some max I reckon.

Day #14

Two weeks done. Straight forward really. Last night though raising the lights on Q1 and one of the ratchet pulleys literally exploded. A bit hit me in the face. Then dropped and and held at about a 40 degree angle. Squished the Islands a little - medium stress training - and it got roped off. @Mars Hydro do you sell replacements?

They responded today by growing another inch. Tying them off tomorrow and we’ll gain 3-6“ straight away. They’re in a great part of the room we can tie them off against the wall as they all have an extra 10” minimum to bend them out. The bigger plants can go in those outer “seats” nay “thrones” but Q1 is looking like its going to be called Sativa Corner from now on.

Day #15

New nute mix. Didn’t go crazy. About 15% above chart. Light on flower boost as it early. EC 3.05 very happy. Ppm I made rare measurement pf at 1700 and if you don’t know the Ph by now, its 5.8.

In Q2 rhere’s mostly Indy’s. The Island and Strawberry there’s basically just one pheno. Really similar. The seriotica has two. One is much more purple and bigger. Wider and taller. They are at the back. Hot the lights over night and one or two leaves looked like they really didn’t enjoy it. So & Co got them raised. It was a pain. Need to revisit the hanging system. I want like a central pulley location, not adverse to rigging an electric one. So from outside the room we can control the heights. We need the roof struts changing to be able to service the AC after this grow so will probably do then. Button Press light control is up next because part of the roof has to come anyway and I haven’t had my sparky round for a while! But we have three light heights again on this grow and its a real pain managing the lights. The last big thing. Unless we drop to 12 plants space is what it is. We’re pushing the max yield for that space. That’s OK but need to optimise it just a little more.

Q1 same plant is through the lights after a 4” lift. That shows no sign of stress. Lets see how she does when we tie her down tomorrow.

Cruising. The fans they’ve put on in a week or whatever are incredible - Demon Barberess has her eye on them. The ones need immediate training won’t survive the process with all those clothes on!

Day #16 done.

Lights up. Sparky booked. We fixed a minor leak then found another that needs tomorrow. We restrained the Island through the lights a second time (The Indy that tried it has actual light burn - this girl no impact apart from getting sad when she pokes through there’s no more light. Anyway her - three binder clips and some probably slightly too stiff plastic coated copper cable restrained them. Bit of a mess to look at but a nice big hole. Then whilst demonstrating the idea of super-cropping (roll in fingers nails in at resistance if required) the half way up bit of rhe cola wasn’t quite so tough and I accidentally did what I said maybe do tomorrow.

Duct tape was on hand so wrapped and left her poorly and broken against the wall. I backed away sad.

But! Just took some after lights out photos and she’s righted her leaves upwards already. She had 2 hours more light after that debacle and looks like she’s just gonna chase the sun again!

I’m changing the approach to this journal slightly. I won journal of the month last month which was awesome. Its not about winning stuff for me in terms of prizes - dunno its nice sure. The growing (thinking and engineering, project management) and writing is what charges me up.

So so happy with how this one is going but the pictures and nunbers basically just for me at this point which is fine. Very useful thank you so much for that resource @420! Its not like that’s free. So really want to give some stuff back. Whacky hacks like my next post because I think this thread is better served as a perpetual thing and anyone who reads it who wants wants help with basically,

High EC, Airpots, Coco, Co2 or room design stuff it’d be a pleasure to help send anyone my way of its that. Or whacky solo cups. That’s a passion

I’m doing the @DYNOMYCO challenge - the link is in my sig.

I seriously loved the little tool hack from my Solo Aircup. I swung it in a pendulum motion (Or moving forwards or indeed backward as a Maisie I know might say) pushing holes through the cup and just gave it another 5 seconds on the gas if I felt it slow. Whole cup I reckon a minute. For us maybe wanting 30 at time thats real, and feel like we’ll use it again so I prettied it up.

Old cork is from like a long empty bottle of expensive rum my parents bought 3 plus years ago from Heathrow. Think & Co just thought it looked classy fpr visitors in the box on the kitchen counter

100% certain no one visiting my house knows that rum. Maybe the name but still Its just litter! So I upcycled the cork.

Have an idea cob related for the bottle.

I made a more permanent tool to pop holes in the side of solos. I had to walk downstairs for the cork but otherwise just stuff probably if you’re growing you have some version of.

I love the solo airpot for seedlings and clones and I’ve bumped the end points on the tweezers/mini pick axe to point upwards. This is meant to allow the root out and up to die in the light (and then re generate) but sometimes when you’re watering an airpot carelessly (like me) or your irrigation collar has been knocked to the edge of the airpot (like me) the upward spike at the end of the tool is designed to sorta make it a touch less likely it will drip down the side.

The thingamy jig is designed to be used from inside the solo.

I’ll test it tomorrow because that challenge I’m waiting on something else (actual popping )so may as well re make the pot while I wait.

Try tomorrow. The pots it produxes are totally our style. Airpot. Coco. Perlite right from the start to the end. Think the 3 Gallon fabrics can be retired. Maybe. They work and store small. Just harder to clean. I could buy a pressure Karcher pressure washer but & Co pays the kids which is alright by me!

Day #19

Some Songkran duties and mad work stuff. Yesterday was a mess and probably getting an ice cold bucket in the face whilst sitting in my mates truck was the best bit! Some other meh stuff. Anyway no one hurt!

So we defoliated and fixed the annoying leak annoyance (then the kid forgot the last two collars round the plants so we had a leak anyway I haven’t told anyone. Too dulled.

Defoliated. Out of Bloom Explode until next mix. That’s alright. They still got 2.96 EC

There are some trunks on them. The Indy’s especially. The Islands have full on bark like a tree already! Lots of knuckly. You see our style now they’re stark and bare. The Island against the wall we can make all those 9 colas pay. Gonna run them 10 weeks. Maybe never again but they get time we didn’t give the Skunk 11 they’ll bud up.

Some ugly attempts at moving stuff around. Some prettier attempts.

Loving the bare naked ladies - oh Q3 was defoliated to same level 24 hours before. So you can see the sort of rebound growth versus Q1 Q2 versus Q3 done yesterday

Crazy day. A whole bunch of driving.

Went to my mates farm. Checked on the oil. Some final refining, freezing I think? Steeped another half kilo in Iso.

Went to another farm miles away. Where I met a partner of my mates and the light company. Think the deal is done. Just shipping and details. My design which is cool. They’re gonna be making a lot of them. I should ask for Nick Hardy Edition labels on them

Then drove back. Dropped two passengers off. Left in heavy traffic. I’d picked up my mates Mighty Vape. Had to drive back 20 minutes. An hour after that dropped 100g off at a dispensary. Maybe have deal for kief and trim and 10 hours later I’m home. It was some day.

I think I saw the flower room this morning. Oh yep. All good. The Island area lights need raising again. Maybe & Co did that. No. Its ok. Tomorrow will do.

Sold a little the current product, just 10g the other day but to an old customer I think resells it to his mates to cover his costs. That’s ok by me. Stickers should arrive Friday. Along with some larger nicer looking bags for larger sizes.

Its only getting better still. I think we’ll get close to what we want on price. Also when our logo is legit and registered we’re going to do an online, probably Instagram type store. & Co can legit sell from home (it has a dispensary license) or as we hope - selling wholesale prices 10g and up only - we’ll get heavy smokers and perhaps some actual dispensaries buying from us.

We can put oil, rosin and some green house grown strains on there too.

No rush on it though. Next week or two. I think we’ll sell it all before next harvest in say 6 weeks.

Can’t wait for the stickers. Caps and T-Shirts a little longer.

Wow I’m beat. I have biggish nug of indoor grown Indy. Hitting that in two minutes. Laters!

Believe it was @InTheShed that last criticised my light hanging (legitimately they are a pain those FCE’s @CaptainLucky blamed me for light flux capacitation stuff (that wasn’t me)

But my light hanging skills are on point today. Only I need & Co and the boy to raise the left side. Where the pulley broke. I’m too big. He should be able to raise it with & Co and water the plants. I’m reduced to a spirit level on my lights that doesn’t work! (Honestly its a way worse lean than it looks right now! 25 degrees at least )

We actually got light burn this time on the Islands. Need to respect that. We didn’t in veg/early flower. Wow they look good. I’m going to run those stupid Sativas so long. Not miss what I did with the Skunk 11. Extra two weeks still yielded more than OG Kush. Would hsve loved another seek though. These Kali Mist getting full, as long as they want.

Comparison from 5 days ago second. That’s a day after or same day as our defoliation Cap’n

5 days ago we cut and we got it mostly back and light has begat buds low down. The light can penetrate. I have no interest in fan leaves . Humidity creators and light blockers for me - but there is more science to be done, and I very much appreciate the “more real estate for photosynthesis” perspective. I don't agree with that. Perhaps if I was growing with more space rather than a more “vertical” style I ‘d think different. To put it in an 8x4 tent style ehich is common. We have a bit less one way but balanced another. We have 7 plants per 4x4 tent sized zone. Chasing yield per sq/cm but gotta be primo. Something where someone comes here on holiday from an established grow region, Amsterdam, Cali, Canada, Australis, Sweden Underground, US generally. Sith experience. When those people say & Co’s weed is great. Then we happy.

Somewhere to make fun of my veg light neatness Shed showed a picture of a fellow member/grower but also professional fabricator who has deliberately flux bent his lights. He shared a post. Forget their name DerekDon something like that. Shed knows him in real life if I recall. You briefly thought they were my lights and I’d done that whacky stuff! That’s 2024 stuff I reckon. After the Skunk 11 taste test I’m battered!

Try to avoid iso extraction if you can and go with ethanol. Iso is notoriously difficult to completely remove from the end product. Maybe with vacuum purging it can be done, but certainly not with standard evaporation.

One comment on the purging - in an hour on a shelf no conduction heating - 300ml became 100ml of tar just natural out door in the shade conditions. I’m not sure rhe orher guys seem really excited. Its going to be green free rich brown in a day or so with the distilled water stuff? I honestly don’t know what I’m looking for!

There’s a bit of a broad brush approach to what they’re making. And its not really me. I mostly project manage I guess. Oh Sales too. See how good I do at that bit. My Roisin stuff needs revisiting. But there’s some market test stuff. Like a nice clean oil I have a confection (edibles maker) who I’ve suggested do some gummies off stuff he’ll get near free. Gummies seem the popular thing for tourists but they’re mostly import. Be nice to throw him 100ml of 60%+ Oil for free and day make a bunch of gummies and use these pretty bags. See what we sell. Split any income down the middle. Using stuff that’s not dispensary level but still top drawer.

Old school farming village life. Love it. A healthy amount of “barter” between people is probably a good thing. I have a leather belt, a painting, made/painted within 100 yards of my house. Not huge fans of them. But along with the fact my little girl goes to school 50 yards away and ai support another local biz. Awesome. But by engaging with you’re locals - I get my gluten free bread off a German guy bakes it every Wednesday 2 miles by road but closer by half in a line. The mustard guy (bread guy makes mustard but its not as good) swedish people make some good mustard! These are all little hobbiest retired people doing little side gigs with time and passion. Its lovely buying that stuff. Wasabi minus 18 more months!

Gummies are easy once you've infused the oil! @Carcass has a great gummy recipe that folks really like:

You'll need:
1 pkg sugar free jello mix (0.6 oz size)
1pkg regular (with sugar) jello mix (3 oz size)
2 packets plain gelatin
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup infused oil

Put all the dry ingredients in a pan, add the water and corn syrup.

Heat it on medium heat,stirring constantly,till it just starts to boil around the edges.

All the powdered stuff should be well dissolved before adding the oil...

Add the oil and keep stirring till it just starts to boil again,then remove from the heat.

At this point,you're gonna say "this shit aint working-the oil is just floating on top"

So, to remedy this, you keep stirring while the mixture cools just a little- as it cools it will thicken up a bit,
and the oil will start to mix in- this is what you want.

Once all the oil is mixed in, it's time to make some gummies...

Now, you need to hurry just a little so it doesn't set up before you get it into the molds.

Pour the mix into a squirt bottle (put a glove on,it's hot) , fill your gummy molds,and stick them in the freezer.
