New Moon Over Guawi: A High Brix Journey

Wonder if some stainless tubing would work?

I was thinking the same but went with these instead, Only 4" long.
I should be able to put One End of the COB in open end and the Oxygen absorber at the other end

Oh Crap I just realized these are only 1/4 inch ID, Did not account for the 2mm wall
so they may not work :( No big deal, Not that much. They have larger Dia. so will probably
be ordering some more :)

WOW I must of been really stoned on the GUAWI I also thought they were 4" long and now I see they
are 6 :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Just Started the Cure on the GUAWI and did more of the shake from the stem removal
MAN This stuff is GREAT. Sitting hear just groovin with Bill Withers and cant stop Smiling and
feeling just AWESOME this is the feeling I remember from the late 70s while stationed in HAWAII.
Excuse me while I float around the room

GUAWI Gives you WINGS
Shit just remembered I have to meet up with some family
for dinner in about 3 hrs I better stop sampling

Oh yeh the reason I wanted to post :hmmmm: the weight on the Guawi after dry and stem removal
was 4.62 oz + 1 oz wet COB so only maybe 5 oz after cure

What a nice delicious looking salad 'G'!...Congrats bud,...looks like very excellent produce....:bravo:

Thanks I'll make it a COB salad ;)

Yeah, looking tasty Gazoo! :yummy:

Thanks Hope they stay that way ;) Nothing to do now but wait out the Cure

Vacuum sealed in Ball Jars at 11:00 am @ 43% Room RH.
Just now hitting 60/61% RH 11hrs later.

I will wait until 64/65 RH (if it goes that high) before I burp them :circle-of-love:

GUAWI COB after 7 days at 77 to 79F

I did not expect the Copper Tube with Oxygen Absorber to be able to pull from the cob
but it looks like it did. One End is sucked in and the other end of the copper tube has a
liquid/Moisture trail connected to the end of the COB.

The Husk was mostly white/Light Yellow, I had to use 3 overlapped so a couple layers
look to have been soaked through with a Reddish color

Should I wait Longer to open and Dry ?

EDIT: Next time I will be using Thick wall Pyrex Tubes instead of the Copper

You can open and dry them now. This is where experience comes in and I'm by no means an expert. I just go by the smell. If it smells pleasant with a fermented background go ahead and let it dry to the touch, remove the husk and reseal for the cure. Just store it at room temp. If there isn't much going on then seal it back up and ferment another week and check again.

Looks great Gazoo. If you do sample it don't make any final conclusions on whether this method is worth it. It really starts to change at the 1 month mark of the cure. I don't sample anything until I reach that 1 month mark. It will still be super smooth if you test it now but the effects with change for the better with the cure. Nice job with your 1st cob I'm sure you'll be hooked just like everyone else.

Yes, the sample now would be just a little light into the process or notes for the nose. My first ones I did that and I am glad I did. I have a Afghan cob that I have not opened since the pat dry, around 2 months.
