Excellent update Reg. Beautiful girls, every one. It's intriguing to watch them develop their individual natures. Just like watching children grow. Do you talk to your girls as well? It always makes my husband laugh to hear me with the girls.

SPIDER 9 UPDATE
Jan 15, 2015

Thanxx everyone and great overview post Hiker.

Looks like you are getting the royal medic figured out. To me she was dam finicky in the nute area. The two times i grew her she looked like sheet but produced quite well. :goodjob:yummy::rollit::passitleft:
The mother plant (NURSE BETTY) of the Royal Medic clones was an ugly duckling Bill but some decent smoke. SPIDER GIRL II is doing fine now but another Royal Medic clone under the SPIDER 9 is a reminder of how finicky this strain can be.

Not every one Sue; everything except one plant. The girl below isn't one of the 3 plants featured in this journal but nonetheless is under the SPIDER 9.

Notice the plant on the front right corner:

ROYAL MEDIC CLONE 3
Day 76 / Day 37 under 12/12

I've narrowed it down to another Nitrogen deficiency like her counter part; that or either an Iron deficiency. If it's Nitrogen it's hitting her a lot worse than it did SPIDER GIRL II (Royal Medic Clone). This plant was top dressed with Azomite & feed FoxFarm Grow Big yesterday.

Any other diagnosis is welcomed and encouraged.

Hey mate, look, I know I don't know, but looks to me you and I are chasing the same problem.

You're leaf damage/coloration is identical to mine, ageing and stages are the same, purpling of stems and trunk same.

You're in flower obviously and I'm not, and that make a difference, and you'd know better than I.

It seems we've got a bit of a double/triple whammy happening.

Higher levels of P & K in conjunction with too alkaline soil may help to lock out Iron and Mag.

In attempting to treat Potassium def for the purpling may exacerbate lock out of Magnesium.

Iron deficiency may be exacerbated if the soil is waterlogged.....Flushing may also responsible for stripping Iron and Mag from the soil...

I flushed and re-pot the worst of all the girls. 1 week later she's a difference girl, and now shows some burning on the tips...deep green colour now too, and has grown the most, but now that may be too much N, not showing any other def signs though.

The others got flushed and fed. They started recovering well, then bang within 5 or 6 days started showing the same symptoms in the new growth. The two sickest of these doesn't seem to be drinking...and the soil is heavy, I think the soil is waterlogged.

I've been flushing and re-feeding, but I guess feeding at the same NPK and micro-nutrient ratio.
So now, instead I have to consider flushing again and re-potting all the others, but what I have to do first is get a good amended soil to go into with a more balanced ratio, so I don't end up with the same problem again.

Now, that's not possible for you in flower right, but maybe you've got to think along the same lines.

Are you thinking you will treat with an Iron chelate first to see if that corrects the issue?

Flush, feed, treat?

I started typing with the intent of helping, but in sharing this morning I've just rambled about my own....oops!

Good morning BAR :)

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

You're not rambling Tassie, that's helpful & descriptive info. She's never been flushed and we let our plants completely dry out before feeding so she's not water-logged. With the Soda Pop Pots it only takes two to three days and she's drying along with the majority of the plants in Bloom; there's only two plants in the tent that aren't drying at the same rate and they're near completion.
You said higher levels of PK might cause Iron or Magnesium lockout. That's something to think about. I'm sure it's not a Magnesium lockout or else she wouldn't be drinking because we feed her Cal/Mag every feeding. But the Iron lockout is a reasonable assumption and she resembles some of the symptoms of an Iron deficiency. Also Iron isn't displayed on the "nutrient availability chart" I use via KJC, which brings me to my next point.
On her last 3 feedings we haven't adjusted the 7.2 PH level tap water. If Iron isn't available over 6.5 or 6.8 this could explain her quick trip south.
As of late I've been following a rule of thumb we see pretty often here.
"Less is More"
Other than Cal/Mag I try not to feed these girls too much more than what they ask for. So far it's been working.

BAR ...Iron Fe or short in latin for Ferrum light blue RH side

Soil not avail over 6.5... eff it...that'll be my problem too.....

I'm around 6.5+ I need a proper effin digital effing PH effing meter.

Sorry, I apologise, very upset with myself. :)

I have used a HM Digital pH Meter reliably to take pH reading and adjust the pH of the nutrients.

I don't know what you're apologizing for. We may have just pinpointed both of our problems. Next feeding I won't do anything but PH the water to 6.5 Also Tassie, if your in organic soil the PH level drops so if your bottom feeding with the run off as we're doing with these small pots take that into consideration. This is why I recently stopped PHing during Bloom. The jury is still out on this with us.

Now that I know Fe is the symbol for Iron, What does Mn stand for? Chemistry was my 1st period class. After homeroom it was directly to the back staircase. As you can see we were still hitting the bong when the bell rung.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Thanxx Skunny. Now I know the whole chart.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Apologising for my language :)

Thanks Skunny.....

I can still do the periodic table of elements up to about 30 odd in order...stuck...

Hyd, Hel, Lith, Beryl, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, oxygen, flurine, Neon, sodium, mag, al, sil, phos, sulf, chlorine, argon, ...Potassium, calcium, scandium, titanium...ok, not as many as I used to...vanadium....

Had to, just for fun! :)
