Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Yeah everything is going so well Reg! great work! I'm very impressed with what you're doing. almost makes me wonder what I could pull off in a 2 liter perpetual system. I'm never going to stop doing LOS, but perhaps on the side, this could be something to experiment with ;)

as for the pee thing tho I know this is a few pages later (haha just caught up sorry) - this guy says urea isn't 'true' organics, and I agree with him.

https://gsr.lib.msu.edu/1950s/1954/540725.pdf

if you're serious about organic soil growing, you feed your soil, not your plant. My dogs pee all over our yard (3 big male dogs) and everywhere they pee, grass instantly dies. Using pee on organic soil, you might as well use synthetic nutes, because you're force feeding in the same process. plus like Reg said, pee is going to vary person to person, unless someone always eats only organic food and very little salt, that definitely isn't organic pee coming out. its like organic milk, the stuffs only organic if the cow's whole nutritional system is organic.

While urea is an 'organic' compound - I'm aware - that doesnt mean you should use it on your organic soil. Not all organic compounds are good. I have some totally organic sulpomag I don't feel safe using because of all the chelates and potential salts. - now worm castings, those are as good as it gets, you dump that on my dog's pee spots and life will burst out of the death. And it costs next to nothing and takes very little effort to run a worm bin. if you're about poor man's organics for real, use worms for N, not pee ;) - worms make micro life explode for sure, not possibly damage them.

BeemerBill; Cronichemphog; B.real; Cajuncelt; Skunnymonster, Thanxx for the compliments.

I hear you on the pee theory SoulGirl but you have to admit that after reading that link this guy sounds like a disgruntle Ground's Keeper who's trying to keep his job. LOL
I don't think anyone here claimed it to be organic, just a free & simple nitrogen alternative. Your dog's urine is probably safer than ours because of it's diet. I'm sure if you diluted it properly it would help the grass instead of kill it. That's just my personal opinion based on the fact that B Real has used it before along with a couple other members with no ill effects.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Yeah Reg I kinda stopped reading when I inferred that he had an agenda LOL - but I still agree with his basic point. - and oh I thought because you do really well staying with organics that was a recommendation for organic N from those talking about it. I guess that was taken out of context though. - oh it was because of talking about the effect on microbes. I think that could be...potentially misleading for anyone going down/interested in a no bottles organics path (which I highly recommend!) ... because to me, when I see those pee spots in my yard its like...something bad is in that pee that isnt going away from diluting it... and its safe to assume anything like that isn't helping out microbes :S - no disrespect to hiker or b.real I'm all for experimentation and thriftiness - thats just one too many corners cut for me lol. :Namaste:

Then it's a good thing you re-opened the subject. Thanxx a mill...

CareStaker's right. It's wonderful watching your very distinctive style, BAR. You two are originals. :thanks:

Must admit to only skimming the pee posts however. With 3 cats in the house and a few feet of snow outside, me and my mop have had our fill of that. :cheesygrinsmiley:

McD's with extra bacon and brown sauce. :circle-of-love:

Thanxx Carestaker & Ted; and Teddy, you better lay off that pork dude. It's nothing but heart problems disguised as food; more disgusting than that cat pee.

Fairly late to this one but interesting grow sir, nice looking ladies.

Watch yourself now Fifi, I'm not as young as you think & do prefer mature women over party girls. Just saying...
