New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB LED

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Can this be used through out an entire grow? For an Auto especially. Could you go a little bigger and get away with a full grow? This is exactly what I have been imagining for a while now..

Thanks guys.

-J.

Yes, in fact it is preferable to use the entire grow. Though it's cheap & easy, it's meant to be a "permanent" home. If you're going to transplant later, I would use a different set up.

As Cajun said, yes Jesstar. If your looking for 1/2 to 2ozs per plant Soda Pop Pots are ideal, especially for a perpetual grow because they don't take up a lot of real estate. Josh223 along with a handful of other members have had great results with them.
A few members will tell you it's a waste of time but I beg to differ. They say that if a plant gets root bound it will reduce your yield significantly but one of the well respected 420 members (not only because of his growing ability but also because of his character) Relaxed Lester has shattered that theory.
I just started using the SIP (stands for Sub Irrigated Planter) but I like it. You never have to worry about over or under watering, just refill the reservoir once it's empty. A tweak to the illustration is to use two bottles instead of cutting one in half. This way you can have more medium. Just cut the very bottom off of one for the pot & cut the other one in half to use as the reservoir.

Here's a look at how my first SIP plant is doing.

Nice diagnosis. Nice save. :goodjob:

Enjoying your journal very much, BAR. :thanks:
Give Jinn the credit on that one Ted and thanxx.

Hello Jaga.

Here's how Spider Girl II looked this morning before heading here to work.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Actually someone here on 420 was doing this with decent results Cronic. I forget who it was. Now I know; 1 to 4 ratio.
McLoadie used to do that. :Laugh2:

Yep it was McLoadie. He seemed to have great results.

eww!! Pee goes in toilets not cannabis!!! :thedoubletake: sorry hahahah that's just one thing I know can't be good for your microbe life.

Are you sure? Ever notice the lush green vegetation around a septic tank's leech field, or how about where the dog pees on the lawn and makes a super green spot. I am aware bitches also excrete something that kills the grass, but even those spots have a green ring where it was less concentrated.

I did a quick bit of reading and thought this site summed things up well:
Human urine: An excellent and safe liquid fertiliser for your vegetable garden | Otepoti Urban Organics

I'll keep peeing on my compost pile too :thumb:

I swear someone even did a blog post on it here, but I can't find it.

My only concern would be salt buildup from extended use. My other concern would be too much N if you used it regularly. I'm pretty sure urine doesn't have everything the plant needs, so how do you add back only the missing ingredients? Maybe if you're in soil and just need a small N bump, this would work since the soul is providing the rest?

Thanxx Fifi. I have a couple of pics I missed while uploading this morning. Here's a look at a plant I had done everything but gave up on before installing the SPIDER 9.

Before

This was Day 37 under the previous led panel I had in the Bloom Tent. She wasn't producing much.

Now after a few weeks under the SPIDER 9 it's a whole new ball game.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

That was a good read Hiker but I paid strict attention to the term "healthy urine". They really didn't go into detail about what constitutes unhealthy urine. We pretty much eat healthy but I'm somewhat of a lush when engaging in social activities with other drinkers and will also have a drink or two alone at home about twice a week. With that being said I'll hold off on using my human fertilizing tool until I get a better description of unhealthy urine. Other than that I'd be 100% with it.

Now when they started discussing using menstrual fluids I had to pull the plug!

I missed that part I guess, or it's already well repressed. :blalol: :biglaugh:

Good day weed BAR. 2 liter growing works hydroponically very well. You may have seen a system like this but here it is anyway. Great ebb and flow system.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Thanxx you guys; and Bill I've been creeping towards the wet side a little but I'm not quite ready to make that plunge yet. I want to get this soil thing down to a science first. But once I do decide to try my hand at hydro I already know I'll have more than enough support here to make it look easy.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Such sweet info. I had envisaged something in between the two systems shown here. I wanted to mount multiple bottles using PVC piping to a single large reservoir and then keep all plants the same age so I can nute/ flush them all evenly. Would this be recommended or should I just keep it simple with separate reservoirs like you have, BAR?

This is a great thread with great contributors. Thanks Reg and everyone else involved. :allgood::allgood::allgood:

No problem Star.
All my journals are open threads where any cannabis related topic can be discussed. The subscribers are the real stars. I've just been blessed to have a great group of positive members hang out with me and point me in the right direction when I need help. And speaking of that, I'm sure one of the experienced hydro guys will answer your question about using one large reservoir.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Yeah you've got a good crew here.
Just to clarify, I'm with you on the soil to hydro switch. I'm not ready yet either so I'm going soil like yours but then hoping to pirate 6 bottles to the one res. Not sure if I was clear with that or not. :p

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Oh, I got you now Star. You mean using the top (pot) portions placed in one large reservoir container. That would work I guess but it would eliminate the benefit of portability that you get from having each pot in it's own reservoir. The way I use it is top feed and the runoff becomes the reservoir feed. The bottom is duct taped to the pot portion.
