Maintianing a temperature of 65°-70° Fahrenheit is best for a hydroponic system. Low temperatures will slow growth and limit the plants ability to uptake nutrients. Too high of temperature can cause a bloom of undesirable bacteria in the reservoir.

Aside from providing aeration and water retention in soil, what other benefit does vermiculite have?

Vermiculate aids drainage and attracts unwanted mosses. It also aids aeration
