Re: New City Grower

Question Number Three :bump:

If you’re soaking seeds in a glass of water,

should you adjust the pH of that water?

:scratchinghead:

If germing in rockwool,

should the water be pH-adjusted?

Why or why not? :geek:

If it should be adjusted, what is the target pH? :dreamy:

pH of water in the above method shouldn't be adjusted. It is unnecessary as the purpose of the soak is to make the shell easier for the taproot to break through. Unless you don't plan on transplanting the seed into some soil or another medium with nutrients in it, then the water doesn't need to be adjusted.

YUP, the solution you soak your RW in should be pH adjusted as close to 5.8 (without over adjusting) and should have a PPM no greater than 250. The reason for adjusting the pH of the RW is because once the taproot has broken through, the seed will remain in the RW cube for its first week or two, therefore it will have an established root system in order to support its growth.

Rico show him whats behind curtain 3

Re: New City Grower

i have to admit i have more success planting seeds direct in soil compared with soaking them first, the only time i soak them is with paper towel method when im checking germ rates on my own seeds, ill throw 20 to 40 seeds in paper towel and check germ rates, i have scuffed seeds to speed up the paper towel germ process.
lets see what answers we get about the ph for soaking seeds
