The honey method is supposed to ONLY protect the rooting area from getting infected and that is all. I watched THIS this youtube vid where some Irish girl explains that the plant, like all living things have the ability to regenerate new growth so long as infection is kept at bay.

HELLO ALL MYFRIENDS! THANXX SO MUCH FOR THE VACATION BLESSINGS. IT WAS THE BEST VACATION OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. (THOU I HAD TO GO ALL THE WAY TO MEXICO TO MET A NICE YOUNG LADY FROM PELHAM BAY IN THE BRONX). WE THEN WENT TO FLORIDA FOR THE 2ND WEEK.
