N420 Grows Barney's Farm Orange Sherbert & Special Guests

Hey Everyone the girls have graduated to their late Veg /flower light.

It’s 480 watts of non sponsor power! It has a warmer colour temp of 3500 k with a mix of red leds, this will be the light they will be under until the chop. I’ve only used it once and since I don’t have a lux or par meter I did some research and figured out that hanging the light @ 24 inches at half power gives you a ppfd reading of 300- 400 which is bang on for Veg growth. Things were getting a bit tight having them squeezed under the 135 watt so now everyone will get even light.

The girls have bounced back well from the first quad cuts and are pushing out a bunch of fresh green growth!

Those plants already looked super and now they get a better light!

Whoa! :Rasta:

They all look great N!! About ready for uppots I’d say. Nice and happy :high-five:
Thanks Hh! Your bang on on the up potting especially Gz#1. I actually washed up some fabric pots on the weekend. I’m thinking 3 gallons so they don’t get too big but I’m concerned about them getting root bound in a pot that size coming from a 1 gallon.

Thanks so much Gdb, even at half power that light is BRIGHT!! I’m happy to be able to spread them out a bit more so they aren’t fighting for light!

Nice light, is that the HLG?

3 gallon should be good for ya, it’s my favorite size to work with. 5 gallon if you were going to have a long veg, but I think it will work nicely for you.
3 gallon FTW :high-five:
I knew you would be the one to ask about that Hh! I’ve seen you grow out some nice ones in the 3 gallons! I’m hoping to flip in a month which will be good timing for most of them other then Gz #1 which might be a bit on the big side by then but I’ll figure it out.

You nailed it Bvb! It an Hlg 550 rspec. Got a good deal on it during a 420 sale last year. I looked them up recently and they don’t sell that exact one, they have an Hlg 600 which looks exactly the same but I’m assuming they are pumping a few more watts through it.

I had a grow with 2 in 3 gals and 2 in 5 gals. I didn’t notice much of any difference, except I had to water a little more frequently on the 3s towards the end. You’re still in promix with MC?
I was thinking the 3’s might need watering more often but thought it could work out better because of how fast the wet dry cycle would be they would be fed more often kinda like a coco grow.
I’m in Pro Mix Hp but using Advanced Nutrients was thinking Mega Crop at first but then realized I had a bunch of Advanced stuff left from the Dwc runs.

You are right on the money. :high-five: You could always put the GZ1 into a 5g if she’s still looking big near flip time? See what you think.

Don't forget 4 gallon pots! I'm trying a couple now and they sorta split the difference between 3s and 5s with regard to watering. :Rasta:

4 gallon fabric pots? Hope it doesn’t sound dumb but I’ve never heard of those. Gonna have to hit up google and search those out!

Okay, here's the difference I've experienced when plants are in flower...

3 gallon pot: 2 - 2.5 liters per feed
4 gallon pot: 3 - 3.5 liters per feed
5 gallon pot: 4 - 4.5 liters per feed

That's sorta what I meant. :laughtwo:

I get it Gdb. Makes sense that I’ll be feeding less at a time with the smaller pots but I’m thinking it will work to my advantage.
3+4+5)/3 = 4
(2.5+3.5+4.5)/3 = 3.5

:hmmmm: I’m not good at maths lol.

I’m definitely leaning towards the 3 gallons, trying to keep these girls smaller then the large plants I normally grow. They always end up bigger then I want and to much energy goes to producing small buds that are buried way under the canopy. I also like the idea of the faster wet dry cycle although I may regret that as they get deep into flower and need constant watering lol. I do have plans for a very simplified watering system so hoping that will cut down on the work load.

The run I did the Canadian Comp in was with smaller pots. I used 6 pots, cut to quads and that was it. It was the best plant/bud structure imo. Nice big chunky hand grenades. Super easy to harvest.

I totally agree with that strategy and if I were to guess, those were 3 gallon pots. I wanted to do it again for the current run, but bitched out.

I will do again next run though.

Wow Bvb those turned out beautifully!! If I get buds even half that size I’ll be very happy!!

Those do look like 3 gallons and you have sold me.. more on that in a bit!
