My Grow

Dammit, I just bought 3 more bags of FFOF today. Just my luck.
Ironically, had a conversation with the owner of my local grow shop the other day about FFOF's quality.
Folks have been complaining about the quality as of late.

Are your currently running other soils right now for a comp?

Could it be nute lock?

I hadn't heard anything about FFOF complaints till now. Hmmmm, got me wondering. Thanks for the heads up.
No, I'm not running any other soil yet. The comp grow was to be clones from the "Aurora Indica" in this grow. As you can see, she is not doing well. The plants do seem a bit happier today as I'm seeing some perking up in the leaves.
I've changed my whole tent around. I'll be posting pics later tonight as I've changed some other things too.
Nute Lockout ? I was wondering about that also. I was thinking of Flushing 1 of the plants to see if it helps or not.

Yesterday I potted 2 of the clones that rooted. Today, I potted a 3rd one; but didn't take pics of that one.
Here's the clones in the bubbler.

These 2 clones were the main cola tops.
The clone I didn't take pics of is an "AURORA INDICA". It is one of the side branches. Her main cola clone is almost rooted... but not ready yet.

I also, up-potted the "AURORA INDICA & OG KUSH" to 5 gal. grow bags.

Here's pics of everything up-potted & in the tent. You'll see the tent changes I've made in the next photo's.

I've put all the plants in the center of the tent with equipment on each side. I put my Humidifier on the front left side of the tent with an Oscillating fan behind it. My Intake Air is now blowing from the top, left side of the tent across the lights. I've also put the Mars Hydro TSL2000 back up & down the center of the tent. I only have it running at 50% & the 4 Vipars are at 90%.

On the right side of the tent I took my Exhaust down from the ceiling & put it in the back corner of the tent. I figured if it's going to suck humidity out I may as well make it pull the humidity across the plants in the process. I also have my Dehumidifier in the tent in case I need it during flower. I also have a 2nd Oscillating fan on this side of the tent. The Exhaust & Dehumidifier are controlled by the Saturn 4. I have the Exhaust set for 80F so if temps go over that it kicks on. It pretty much runs during lights on & turns off during lights out. The 2 oscillating fans also turn off at lights out. The Humidifier & Intake run 24/7.

Just a pic of the plants in their home without AC. Yes, the AC is gone. I had my best grows with higher temps & lower RH so screw science & VPD !
Here's my temps after 2.5 hours without AC & the exhaust wasn't turned on yet either. Floor says 79.7 & Above canopy says about 82F. Temp must be about 80 - 81F at the canopy. This was with the tent open.
Temp got to 90F with tent closed without exhaust on & about 86F with exhaust on. This sounds like the Temps & RH that I had good grows with. Doesn't seem to bother the plants any.

I also quit using the MC Equivalent Calculations. To me..... it seems to not add enough CalMag. So I'm still using Silica but adding it at 3 ml. per gal. (bottle says 2.5 - 5 ml.). I'm adding CalMag at 2 ml. per gal. & using 5.5 gr. per gal MC.
I am not adding any Nitrogen.

Today, I plan to defol the POP TARTS & LST the 4 in 5 gal pots. I'll trim off any dead stuff too.

Does your Cal-Mag have the traditional 2% N? When I was running MC V2 I was using 5ml Silica (Potassium Silicate based Silica product), 6mg MC (actually I just scooped out 3/4 tsp of MC with a measuring spoon, but when I weighed it it was normally + or - .1g), and 5ml Cal-Mag.

Are you measuring ppm's in ?

I understand it is hard to judge how much your FFOF contributes after a month.

It might be helpful to know your ppm's vs grams per gallon in ?

FYI > This is a King Gelato auto @ 33 days, topped once and in a 3 gallon pot.

With my well water @ 500ppm I'm adding 2.33g of MC per gallon for a total ppm of 1100.

Can we say 4.6g of MC with "clean" water for a ppm of 1100 with no contribution from the ProMix HP ? ;)

Perhaps you are feeding too much ?

I use the GH Cali-Magic. It's 0.1% Fe.
Before the calculations I always just used MC & Cal-Mag. But I had some weak branches on some plants & was told to add Si so that's when I started using calculations.
So I went back to basics & just started adding what the bottles say.
I wish I could get MC Ver.2 . That version was the best so far. I asked Greenleaf but they said none available.

I was checking ppm's while using the calculations. My water was about 250 ppm & after mixing nutes at 5.5 gr. per gal. it was 786 ppm. So far, every time I've gotten in the 1000 ppm range in my grows the plants didn't like it & I had to back down. They seemed much happier in the 850 - 950 ppm range.

From what I've been told about MC, you can feed your plants at 2 gr. per gal at about 1 week old in FFOF without any problems. I never have done it though. I usually wait at least 2 weeks to feed MC.

I use the GH Cali-Magic.
I wish I could get MC Ver.2 .

Cal iMagic is:
1 N
5 Ca
1.5 Mg
.006 B
.004 Cu
.1 Fe
.015 Mn
.0004 Mo
.0065 Zn

I had my best results with V2 also (the brownish smelly stuff with prills/balls). Was less impressed with the grainy grey powder. Shortly after that I started experimenting with Jack's 15-5-20 for tap water and MSU Orchid food. Now I'm using a custom blend I make myself from all the raw salts.

My water was about 250 ppm

That's very alkaline water. Mine is around 150-180 and is exactly the reason I went the DIY route. For more alkaline water you should have a higher amount of Ammoniacal Nitrogen (about 25-33%) and MC is made up of mostly Nitrate Nitrogen, which is great if you're using RO but not so much if you're using tap water.

Today I did all my defoliation & LST on the 4 plants in 5 gal. pots. Mostly cleaned up the bottoms & removed some of the fans blocking light. Now, I should be able to tell if anything I'm doing is working; since all the crappy looking leaves are gone. Right now the plants look good for 4 weeks old. Too bad they're 7 weeks old.... lol. Let's see what happens throughout the week. Here's some pics.

"AURORA INDICA" This is the one giving me the most shit !

So far it looks like the changes I made are doing some good. It's still early though, so hopefully they still look good by the weekend. The Aurora, OG Kush & WW all are a nice green & perky as can be. I was getting constant drooping before the changes & we all know what the leaves looked like. The Pop Tarts is still a little light in color so she may need the added Nitrogen; but I think the others are fine without it. I believe the main problem was they weren't getting enough Cal-Mag. I'm pretty much running my tent close to 85F with 40% RH & the plants seem to love it. I'm going to feed the Pop Tarts at 6 gr. with added "N" next feed to see if she darkens up some. The rest seem fine at 5.5 gr.

Not a good day for me at all. Stopped to fill up with gas on my way home from work. Got my gas & was pulling out & some guy in a pick up came flying around the corner & took out my front bumper, grille, fog lights, etc. Sucks, because I put money into customizing it all the time.
I guess that's my early B-day present for tomorrow.

:happy-birthday:
Um, at least tomorrow should theoretically be better than today.

Sorry about your ride. At least the fellow in the pick-up will be going bankrupt soon with high gas cost and all.

Grow looks to be coming along nicely now.
Thanks for the Happy BD. Can't say things will be better though. Just woke up & found the Spider Farmer SF1000 that I was using to clone with burnt out last night. Just bought it in Aug. & it might have a total of 4 weeks of use on it as it only gets used for clones. I feel like hiding under the covers all day before something else happens.

Hey all, going to do an update. It seems to be the only thing going well at the moment. My SF-1000 I use for cloning quit on me last night; so now I'm using an 85 watt CFL to finish rooting the last 3 clones. They are starting to root now, so don't want to toss them.

So let's take a look at the plants. I'll do "POP TARTS" first. Well a week or so ago I changed my tent around & quit using nutrient calculations. I think things improved quite a bit since then. I'm feeding the Pop Tarts at 6 gr. per gal. with 3 ml. of Silica, 4 ml. of Nitrogen & 2 ml. of Cal-Mag. She drinks almost 3/4 gal. every 2-3 days. Her yellow leaves are gone, but she still looks slightly on the light green side to me. The "N" bottle says 2-5 ml. per liter & I'm nowhere near that. But I plan to up the "N" to 6 ml. next feeding. Upping the Cal-Mag to 3 ml. also.
Here's a couple of pics of her I just took.

14-266 4-1-22.JPG

Next is the "WHITE WIDOW". She hasn't had any major problems; but she sure has grown this week. She has a nice green color so I'm keeping her at the 5.5 gr. MC with 2 ml. of Cal-Mag & 3 ml. of Si. I feed her 3/4 gal. also, but she takes 3-4 days before she's ready for more.

14-267 4-1-22.JPG
14-268 4-1-22.JPG

Now we have the "OG KUSH". She was just starting to get a Cal. def. when I changed things up. She is surely showing signs of a good recovery. I think she will take off this week. She's on the same feed schedule as the White Widow.

14-269 4-1-22.JPG
14-270 4-1-22.JPG

Last, but not least.... The problem child.... "AURORA INDICA". We all seen how bad she looked a week ago. I'd say she's at least 90% better now. I was feeding her the same as the W.W. & OG, but I'm putting her on 6 gr. MC with 3 ml. of Cal. Mag. I'll keep the "N" at 4 ml. & Si at 3 mil. for her.

14-271 4-1-22.JPG
14-272 4-1-22.JPG

So what do you think ? Much better ? Like I said, I have my best grows with higher temps & lower RH. I'm not sure if the nute calculations had anything to do with things or not. Calculations may need to be figured differently for different strains is what I'm thinking. The last time I used the Calculations it all went perfect.... so who knows !
They seem to like what I'm doing now, so I'll just keep on keeping on.

You probably noticed all the clones in the background of my pics. I have all 4 of the main cola tops in 2 gal. pots. They will be going next weekend. I have a friend in need... lol. So far I have 4 Aurora's in 1 gal. pots & 1 in a Solo Cup. There's still 2 more Aurora's & a Pop Tarts in the cloner. All 3 have a very tiny root sticking out so they will be ready in a day or 2. They will go in Solo Cups also. If the Clones look good in 2 weeks, I'll use them for my comparison grow.
Here's some pics.

Just a couple of Group shots to finish things off.

Going to be a busy day for me running around to get a few estimates for body shop repairs. Also, have to order a new light for the clones since the SF-1000 died. I'm thinking a Mars Hydro TS600 should be good for starting clones; so I'll probably buy that. I want to go back to all Mars Hydro lights in the near future. I like the TSW & TSL 2000's better than bar lights. I'll use the Vipars in my grow shed & put it back in use once I get the new lights. I sure went through a lot of different lights over the past 5 years. Funny how I'm going back to almost the beginning of my grows when I used Mars. But I feel they did me the best..... You know the rest of the saying.... lol.

2 more clones rooted & potted. Only 1 to go. So far 11 out of 12 have rooted. Can I get 12 for 12 ? I think so. Gotta love the DIY Bubble Cloner in @Emilya tutorial. I've had 100% success with it every time I've used it. I highly recommend building one if you plan to clone. Best $20 I've ever spent.... lol. Thank You Em !
