My First Time Growing

I normally like to keep my plants lower indoors Smokey.
I had several outside and they gained quite a stretch on them, that's why they got so tall. They had to be moved inside because of critters and weather issues.

You can use any LED in a big room or a small room. Closets are used by growers all over the forum. The grow room where that plant was is at least 16 feet by 12-ish. The light that the LED puts out where it's most effective will be in a "footprint" area. That means how wide the light itself will spread and be useful. So you will see lights described as a 2 foot or 4 foot area for the footprint.

I'm sure more will be added by others to that, and I hope it makes sense. It's just a basic explanation. :)

That explains it perfectly. I understand what you mean by the footprint now. Thanks for the explanation!

With a closet grow, keep in mind you have to be sure you have proper airflow and temperatures.

Before I set up the tent, I had considered using the closet and already had a plan for airflow thru it. Fortunately it has an air duct that goes nowhere but outside the closet(?). One of the reasons I'm relatively sure the previous owners grew too.

Either that or they had some pretty smelly sneakers in there they were trying air out.:cough:

Different LED's will have variances in their "footprint" and it also is dependent on where the light is placed in height. The LED manufacturer literature should have that info for you.
It can be techy, but I think you have the general picture there.

Yup, I understand the concept now. Each light will be different depending on strength of light and height it's set at.

Basically, yepper. :)
I'm sure shiggity or others can get more techy about it. I don't hold onto all of that techy information very long. LOL

BTW, If I just disappear for awhile it's because my daughter and 21 year old granddaughter are supposed to get here in a little while and I don't want them coming in my room where the PC/Grow is at. There here!

I'm so slow to respond.... first I thought I would mention ribbon, but you got it.
Then I thought I would mention doing a little more each day, for a couple of days to get part of the stalk to 9 degrees, then you got that.
Finally I thought I woul mention the 90 degree bend all at once, but then you got the statement AND an example.

It is great that you have such good instincts and good people to help you out :)

If I were a normal person, I need not have posted at all - but since I like to hear myself type...

My one and only time I had to supercrop in flower. bottom left: pinch, bottom right: slowly bend, top: two weeks later

Hey Smoke!

How you feeling today? Have a great visit with your family. Great Saturday activity. On the LST front, just remember that "A little bit of training each day, helps to keep the sativa at bay!"

LST is fun for me as it gives me something to do each day with the plants. It also forces me to look the entire plant over and see issues I may not notice on a plant that doesn't get pulled and played with every day or two.

I'll bet that's war around there with all girls not getting "played with" enough.

"Not fair!" "Not fair!" " You love her more than me! Waaaahhaaaaaaa" {{sniff sniff}}

O.K., I'm back on, They were coming to visit AND pick up my wife to go somewhere and just left. Thanks for the kind words Radogast, but as I said my instincts have been "grown" by PJ and all of you guys, So I'm just the one fortunate enough to gain the advantage of all of your guys experiences in my harvest (I can barely wait until I can actually try it, I know its a ways off, but I'm just really looking forward to trying it!:) )

And Hi Doc, I'm about halfway back to normal and still babying my back but at least it's moving in the right direction, I had a very nice time with our Daughter and Granddaughter, Just wanted to keep them from coming in here and seeing what I've got cooking (which is exactly where they would have come if I hadn't bailed so quick and went out by them).
And I always do any LST with gentleness and at a minimum, I would rather do it a lot rather than hurt the plant by trying it too fast. I have already done it twice today in tiny increments on the ones that grew over the light and I had to tie town with the ribbon. I just wish I could raise the light higher, but it's already all the way up as high as I can get it on it's hangers. I even thought about removing the hangers but the rods in my tent are too thick for the caribeanners (not a racist slur, it's what they are called, nut I hate the way it sounds whenever I have to say it) that the light hangs on, If I get some extra money and can buy some bigger ones I would still only be able to raise it another 2"'s.
