My First Time Growing

Hi all! I'm feeling about 50% better and can move around a little bit now if I'm careful. I just checked the girls in the tent and on Harley (#1) she has 1 bud site that stretched above the light and the light is all the way up now, Should I try LST the one stalk back under the light? It's the only thing I can think of. Ideas? opinions? I welcome them all!
Thanks

That's probably the only choice you have is try to bend the top down some. You have be really careful though, so you don't snap it.

Got a pic?

Also, are you still having troubles with pages loading properly today?

Thanks!

I had a little trouble logging in at first (It made me enter my log in info 3 times before it took) instead of auto logging in like it normally does. But that's all. I don't have a pic and because I'm kind of babying my back I can't get a pic right now, but as soon as I'm a little bit better than I am now, I will. I will try LST when I feel up to it and can sit in front of the tent and do it, I'll also see if I can get a pic from that close of it but usually to get that shot I would have to do it standing a ways back or lift the chair and carry it back which I don't want to risk right now since I'm just starting to feel better

Nothing you have to do right now or today. Just rest and get to it when you feel you can.

I used to use firefox, I liked it. I'm glad to know this isn't just a google chrome issue. I'm quite used to chrome now.

If you have to bend her once a bit start at the bottom and bend a little tiny bit every inch along the way. Stems can be brittle so you don't want to bend a single section very far. Once you can get her to sway over a bit tie some string to her and tie the other end to the pot. This will keep her top bent over. Make sure the loop tying her is super loose, like double sized.

Got it, will do. Very gingerly and moving up the stalk as I go. Will have to find something to tie her with, all I have is sewing string right now. Only other thing I have offhand is putting a bunch of tie wraps together which might get to heavy since its so tall. But I'll figure something out and don't worry, I will make it very looses where it goes around the stalk. Thank You Shiggity

If you have zip ties that's great. Just link together. Then put a separate one up top and run tape around the part that contacts the stem so it doesn't cut it. And keep the last zip with the tape nice and loose. I love zip ties.

Same thing can be done with plastic ties or pipe cleaners. Even an old shoe lace. Or stiff electrical wire. Or bent in half so not sticky duct tape. Or a firmly anchored bamboo stake with loose tie at the top with the bent branch.

All kinds of things you can use for tie downs, cut up a scarf...use a silk robe waste tie....look around you...something will hit ya. Cut up some plastic bags and tie them together....

Just throwing ideas at ya dude.....use em' or lose em'.

Felt like doing it right away before the bud was out of the light too long, I used ribbon my wife had and it worked great. I made a large loop on one end wrapped it VERY loosely around the bud and because I couldn't LST it at the bottom since it was like wood, I gently just pulled her over until it was back in the light as well doing a little LST up higher where it was still greenish but not much because it felt like it would snap. Turned out to be 2 buds as well and did the same to both. They seem to be working well with a LOT of room inside the loop to grow. Here is a pic I took afterwards. (Forgot too beforehand):

You can only see one ribbon for some reason, but if you look right behind the one with the ribbon, yuo can see the second one bending over from it's ribbon as well.

Thanks Canna, The wife volunteered some ribbon, worked great.

Just perfect! You have such a green thumb Smokey you were born to grow cannabis. I think you have such great instincts.

Thanks Shiggity but remember, I learned everything from you guys, This whole grow is made possible by thoughts and ideas provided the wonderful members of this journal :)
I may have instinct's that are coming out, but it's all because you guys helped to "grow me" into them. I just get the harvest, So thank you all again!

Perfect Smokey!

Now, as they adjust slowly to the bending you can do it a little at a time every couple days or so to keep her away from hitting the light.
Her bent tops will keep trying to bend back up to the light, it's natural and kind of cool to watch.

I was thinking the same thing (about doing a little more LST each day). I look forward to watching them to see how they do it with me doing LST each couple days. I can never remember, I think LST stands for Low Stress Training, but for some reason Leaf keeps popping into my head. Which if you don't mind me asking. LOW makes the most sense.

You are right it is low. High stress would be chopping or just bending that branch at a 90 degree angle.

Thanks for the clarification Shiggity, That what made the most sense. Where not training leafs , were training stalks. It was just one of those things that bugged me and even when I started rereading my journal (wow!) the first 10 or so times I found it was just LST and I couldn't find it (yet).+ Probably read it and missed it already, I like to look back and refresh everything, but it's so big (ABSOLUTELY NOT a complaint) it just takes time.

Right on! I had to do high stress training to a plant that reached over 7' tall (transferred from outside grow) to keep it under the light. It was a major bend, and I had to snip part of the top off to do it. A little each day and I was able to keep it over enough.

My usual WOW! applies now I think. That's one big girl. With my grow being indoors I hope to never see anything like that though (for me). I never realized you could use a light in a big room though, If I ever run into that problem in the future, (and can afford another light) I have a closet that would work nicely for something like that if necessary. But I hope to keep them squat and fat. But that had to have been one sweet harvest I'm guessing with my limited knowledge of them.
