My First Time Growing

Yup. If it feels a little warm during lights out and you check in the tent, has it ever been too hot in there? With the light off it would have to be like 90 degrees in your room for it to get too hot in the tent. When the lights are off leave the tent closed all the time.

Denise, why would you go to the corner?

Sorry I missed the one part in your post. The highest it's ever gotten in the tent during lights out is 76 degrees because the room was warm, I was only checking before we started flower mode. The tent has been completely closed at night since about a month ago. I was mostly worried about the book case after I understood the light leak thing. But they are always vegging in the bookcase.

And I missed the :blunt: Hang on a sec so I can catch up...:rollit:...

Ok got it..:party::party::party: woohoo girls! Good deal there Smoke! Congrats. :thumb:

And oh yeah I actually lost head weight this morning. Been trying to lose some of the tire around the middle and actually dropped a pound off my head. I think that's cheating.

Fantastic news again on the girls. Now the fun starts in earnest.
Bob ;)

When ever some one is not busy, I was just wondering what auto flowering seeds do? I'm not going to touch the one I have, but was just curious. Does it grow faster or something? Please don't worry about answering if your busy. I can ask again later or tomorrow.

Autoflowering seeds grow on their own schedule regardless of the lighting schedule. There is no vegetative period for them, they flower when they are ready to do so. On the breeders sites for the Autoflowering strain you have, you will see their information for how many weeks to harvest. They cannot be cloned, because the clone will flower at the same time schedule as the plant it was taken from. You can't just throw them in a veg room and keep them for awhile, unlike the normal plants (which are called photoperiod plants, you will hear them called "photos" or "Autos") You can keep a photoperiod plant in veg for a long time, until you are ready to flower it. You can't do that with Autos, they will flower on their schedule.

The benefits to Autos, among other things, is the fast harvesting as opposed to Photoperiod (which you are growing now). Another benefit is you don't have to do different lighting schedules, so it saves on space and electricity.

I'll be right back with some more detailed info. That's a basic for the moment.

Autoflowering cannabis is regular cannabis (photoperiod induced flowering) crossed with ruderalis(time induced flowering). So instead of needing the light period changed to 12/12 light/dark an auto will just start flowering after a few weeks of growing. People like autos because they don't have to worry about having separate grow areas. Just keep everything at 18hours lights on 6 hours off and flower away.

I prefer photoperiod plants because you can clone them and grow them the same year after year. My Twister strain is almost 20 years old. With autos you can't clone, you can only grow from seed. But autos can be fun too. I picked up a few dark devil auto seeds to grow just for fun.

Thanks Canna, I was just curious what it meant. I appreciate the info!

I'm sure more info will be posted about them, but that is a very basic explanation. :)
I have 3 Auto strains started now, and I am experimenting with topping and some LST on them. This is my second try at them, so I'm hoping for nice plants!

That's cool! A faster harvest. When I get the bottom of the bookcase setup to grow, I'm going to ask PJ if I should try it. I really do appreciate the info! I just didn't know what they were.

Autos are generally shorter, smaller plants...making them ideal for smaller spaces too. Some seedbanks and growers recommend a 20/4 light schedule, which I am trying with this new run of Autos. The last time I grew them I had them on 12/12. I want to see if I get different results.

I will never stop growing photo plants. I love the things you can do with them, on MY schedule. LOL

Ho much do they harvest? Is it substantially less than a normal seed?

Smoke... Some autos are as quick as 55-60 from seed to harvest... Normally the harvest is not as good as a photo girl but they are vastly improving on them...:circle-of-love::circle-of-love:

Now I understand the hesitation, PJ is trying to get as much of a harvest for me as possible I bet. But I would like to try it just to get something quickly. But it will still take a while if I were to start it now. But thanks for explaining it to me. I didn't know what the difference was.

I have seen some awesome Auto harvests on this site! That's what I'm shooting for.
Dennise, haven't there been Plant of the Month winners with Autos?

Right now I still believe I can get more harvest with a photo plant, but I haven't really given the Autos a fair decent try yet. The last one I tried to grow, I tried to drown her as a seedling. By the time she recovered and started growing she was already flowering. VERY small plant. But cute. :)

Do they usually cost more for the seeds? (not that I'll be able to buy any) but just wondering if they cost more or less than regular seeds?
