My First Time Growing

If you have enough height there Smoke IMO about 18" is perfect... Some folks worry about how close you can get to the light but I think you should make sure you are far enough away to make sure you are getting the full spectrum... Try not to get any closer than 12" but if you don't have that much room... You have to do what you have to do and your not going to burn them unless you're literally on top of them... Have a great day and hope that helps a bit...:circle-of-love:

I'm at 11" now, so I will raise them up to 18" as soon as I can (I forgot to post a couple pics, one that PJ wanted. So I'm back for a couple minutes). Thank You Dennise! I appreciate the info. I kind of thought they were too close. PJ had suggested raising the light all the way up and using stackable items to raise the plants to a better height, only problem is I can't find any stackable items. We don't get any magazines and the only books I have are either small paper backs (wouldn't help) or hard covers that I wouldn't want to get near water (Ones that I collect, like old hardcovers of The Hobbit and the Trilogy, etc.). So thank you! I'm gonna go upload my pics and come back and post them.
Thank you again (all of you)

Smokey

OK, Here's the pic PJ wanted to see. It's Jordan after transplant:

The rest I just wanted to post: Here's Minnie after topping:

Here's the 707 Truthband (new one, still seedling)

And finally, The Amnesia, so you guys can see how it's stretching (which is how the conversation about putting some lights in the bottom of the bookcase came up).

Nothing impressive, Just wanted to put them in the journal.
Thanks to all of you!

I said it once here and I'll say it again... This has got to be one of the best learners thread for beginners and also a great refresher course for us not so new growers. Keep up the good work Uncle Smokey and keep the info coming supporters.

Sooner rather than later I am going to see you start giving advice to new growers.
That's how we pay it forward Flip, the 420mag way.:high-five:

I think they look great! Nice tape job on the pots too Smokey. Sooner rather than later I am going to see you start giving advice to new growers. You have the touch. Even with all the help a lot of people would have failed. You have a talent for this my friend. Even with your pain and struggles you are doing so damn well. I applaud you! :bravo:

Thanks Shiggity, I'm finally back on (for the moment, our power is going out every so often, were just waiting for the electrical company to get here, but for the moment, it's on). I appreciate the compliment. I look forward to the day I can pay it forward (So much!!!!!!) by helping people again. What you said means a lot to me.
:thankyou:

I raised the light to exactly 18" above the big plants (The only ones in the tent for now as PJ has me putting them into flower), I'll see how they like it, but since it was your suggestion Dennise, I bet they love it! Thank you again for the advise! I'm going to log off for a while as it's getting windy again and I'm worried about losing the power again and don't want to be in the midd

le of a post and lose it.

That was cute. LOL I'm going through some heavy wind here as well, they're threatening power outages....but so far lucky. Only one limb on the roof so far......

We'll trade the luck back and forth while it rides out....

You got it, we'll swap the luck back and forth until it "blows" over! Same here though, some small tree limbs have come down, but other than keeping losing the electric, no damage so far. :thumb:

Smoke watch how your girls react to the light now... They may want it a bit closer but you will know and if they do... Just lower your light a little bit at a time until you find their sweet spot..:)... IMO you shouldn't ever go less than 12" unless you simply have no choice...:circle-of-love:

Thanks Dennise, I'll keep an eye on them to find the right spot. I just want them to be as comfortable as possible. Thank you for the info, But what should I watch them for if the light is to high? I assume they don't stretch at this size anymore. Is it saggy leaves? Or something else? I suppose I will see anything negative on them, just not sure what particularly to watch for. BTW, sorry to ask, but what does IMO stand for? I've seen it before, but never knew what it stood for.

:thanks:

Smokey

I don't really know how to explain it Smoke but you know how happy they look now and how well they are growing... If all continues.. Perfect... If it seems to slow down or looks"different" for lack of a better way to put it... Lower them a little... I think they are going to be just fine where they are at and I promise they will tell us if they're not....:circle-of-love:

O.K., I think the plants told me they don't like the height of the light. I checked them at around 7:30 PM and they looked OK but the temp was up to 81 degrees (that's not uncommon), the only other difference I noticed was they were holding the rectangular shape. I went and watched a TV show with my wife, but at a little after 9:00PM they looked like this:

looking_badIMG_20160219_211200.jpg

and the temp was up to 85 degrees. I lowered the light and am trying to get the temp down in the tent. I know these are sturdy plants, But after seeing them like this, I am a little worried. Hopefully with the light at 13" above them they will bounce back. I asked where the light should be and it was recommended 18" unless I see a problem (looking back, I think I should have raised the light a little at a time rather than just lifting them to 18" fast, That's my fault and probably why they are looking like this, I'm not blaming anyone but myself). They look worse than they do before lights out at 11:00 PM. Just had to ask you guys about this. I also cracked the sliding glass door next to the tent about a 1/4 of an inch and got the temp down to 78 degrees in the tent, but didn't want to shock the plants with too much cold air right away and shut it while typing this post. Any ideas or does this look like they will be OK? and be honest with me please, People have told me the plants looked good in the past, but later said that they were actually worried about them. I just want to know the truth about them. If it's bad, tell me, If you honestly think they will be fine, let me know that also please.

BTW, Thanks for any input anyone has.
