My First Time Growing

Thanks Hydro, I'm saving up for the magical butter machine (and will achieve the savings) as I've heard that helps to make the CCO. As soon as my harvest is cured, I plan on making CCO for the wife. (I'm NOT asking for any help)

I've made a lot of butter in the past, I like brownies the best. I think I may be switching my recipe for SweetSue's brownie recipe. Those look delicious!! The day will be here sooner then you think when you can supply yourself with the benefits of your very own grown herb.:peace:

Based on reading the CCO threads, the Magical Butter Machine version (by itself) is not close to the concentrations of CCO. There are instructions on the Magical Butter website, but I don't know anyone here on 420 Mag who has actually done the MBM CCO. Spending less money on a temperature controlled warming plate will cost less and yield a higher concentrated oil - again from what I've read.

I suggest you read the first couple of pages of this thread (if you haven't) before investing in a MBM for the making of CCO. How To Make Concentrated Cannabis Oil

You will need a well ventilated place for when the alcohol fumes boil off.

Thanks Hydro, I'm really looking forward to it! I even plan on being online with anyone here that's interested when I try my own home grown medicine because I know I won't have saved enough for the magical butter machine for a while, so smoking it will be the first way I go. Does home grown make any difference in the coughing? I cough a lot with stuff I have given to me by a friend (almost 2-3 bowls a month) and it always hurts my back a little when I cough. I'm just wondering if it will be the same with my own grown herb? The pain goes away pretty quickly once the THC hits my system but can't help but to wonder since I'm 100% positive it is all my own herb with nothing added to make it weigh more.

I will look into it asap, Thanks Radogast! I appreciate it since I thought I pretty much had to have a MBM to make CCO. A cheaper version is a lot better!

If you follow the advice of all who helped you along this journey, you will have the BEST smoke in town.

For ultra smooth smoke, try Bud Washing Bud Washing
You won't need Bucket #1 in that link (H202) just one bucket of lemon juice/baking soda in water for the wash and two buckets of rinse water (any comfortable temperature.)

PeeJay's soil and no added nutrients makes smooth smoke.
Bud Washing makes smooth smoke cleaner and smoother.
Taking too big a hit can stll make you cough :) but it won't be harsh !

P.S. Bud Washing must be done soon after harvest, before the trichomes dry out - so don't try it on your friend's dried bud.

After looking at the instructions, I'm not sure I'll be able to make CCO now. I don't even know what a rice burner is. And it appears to take a lot of equipment I don't have and will be on a tight budget and not able to buy all the stuff needed (like the electronic thermometer (I think that's what it is)and whatever that other thing in the picture is as well as the rice burner). I want so bad to make it for my wife, but it seems awfully complicated. Is their an easier/cheaper way by any chance? Sorry for complaining, but for me, that's a good chunk of money (just the rice burner). I'm NOT asking anyone for ANY donations, an anonymous donor is already sending me a bigger tent that will take a long time to even buy the lights for (a couple years I think) and to add all this stuff will add more time to what I already have to wait for. If there is a cheaper way to make CCO? Please let me know. I'm not complaining, just looking at it realistically money wise. According to the directions the rice burner alone was $59.00 at the time it was written in 2014. If any one has a cheaper idea, please let me know. I thought it was just going to take the magical butter machine from the stuff I've read on other threads (Have no idea anymore where they are now, I didn't subscribe to them). But if you do a search for Magical butter machine, there are 900+ hits about it. I may have been getting making cannabis oil with CCO confused. Sorry if I sound like I'm complaing, I'm really not, just trying to figure it out financially.

Thanks all!

Smokey

I just checked my clone and found 3 roots growing on it, and am thinking about transplanting it into PJ's seedling soil as soon as I hear from you guys telling me if this is/isn't the right time. Feel free to let me know if it's the right time since this is the first clone I've tried that grew roots! :thanks:

I won the Easter Haze.IO seed contest...:yahoo:....:circle-of-love:

I'm very happy you won Dennise! What was the prize? I'm assuming seeds from the contests name (other than the IO part, I have no clue what that means). But congratulations on winning! You most definitely deserve it!!

I have no idea what it means either but yes it is beans... I'm not really sure how many either but the second place winner gets 15 so I guess it's more than 15... I sent them my contact info and they are supposed to send me a list to pick from....I love winning free stuff...:yahoo: and for some reason... expecially beans...:)....:circle-of-love:

That's GREAT Dennise! Like I said, you most certainly deserve it IMO. I just wish I had known about the contest before hand so I could have voted for you too. But at least you won, that's the most important thing!!

Smokey do you have a magical butter machine? You are correct they can make CCO. The other post with the ricemaker is just anther way of doing things. You could substitute a double boiler for a rice cooker (smaller pot inside larger pot with water). Or even use a small crock pot. I have had success when taking an alcohol cannabis solution and just letting the alcohol evaporate in a glass dish. The cannabis goodness is left behind and can be scraped off with a knife or razor blade. There is more than one way to skin a cat Smokey and we WILL get you sorted!

Shiggity, I don't have a MBM yet, but have priced them on Ebay and they have used ones for around $59.00, And that includes everything that comes with it. Just between all the stuff I would have to buy to do what the link I got says you need, suggests that the MBM would be a lot more economical. (and I need to keep it as cheap as possible due to my income on disability and haven't had a raise since I got hurt a long time ago, I won't say when because it could further help ID me if the F.D. was getting suspicious and trying to find out what I'm doing)

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I get disability pay since I can't work any more, but it's based on what I was making back when I got hurt and has no cost of living increase built into the system.

Smoke before you go buying things to make oil please make sure you tak to Canna... She IMO is the go to gal here for that and I mean no disrespect to anyone but I know for a fact where she got her information... and it was from 420Motoco himself and his wife.... I too got my info from Motoco and even the links to where to purchase the exact things he recommended... which I did... now mind you I do understand that you will not be ablt to do the same... it wasn't inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination... and I can see where some of it doesn't have to be the pricey quality that I have is... however I know Canna got the same exact info I did and probably the same links and I doubt very highly that she did it exactly as laid out like I did due to funds... don't get me wrong... I am most certainly a poor woman that also lives on a fixed income but when I first got all my equipment was before fella got hurt and he made really good money.... thinkgs have changed...:yikes: so I truly do understand the economy need of it... but please just talk to Canna before you order anything for making your oil... I'm betting she has some really good cost cutting ideas and I know she is an expert in making the oil... and no... I have never used or had any of her oil but again I know where she learned how to make it and I know how long she has been doing it.....:thumb:.....:circle-of-love:

This is a good day for me, I found out more about the tent being donated to me (It shipped today already). I still can't believe I'm getting it. I asked the owner on Ebay (I was just looking at the prices of a bigger tent) a couple questions about the condition of it yesterday morning to find out if it sounded like it had light leaks (I told him/her I was going to try an indoor garden for vegetables without having to go outside because of my injury) but it's supposed to be in excellent condition. She/He asked me how I got hurt and after explaining my situation he/she then said since it didn't sell she/he asked that I just pay the shipping and he/she would donate it to me. It's is 8' wide x 4' deep x 78" high. They were only asking about $60.00 for it plus shipping. That's what caught my eye, the price. I'm still surprised that Ebay didn't step in when they made the offer and gave me their email address. I guess they must be nicer than I had thought.

I would give you the link to check it (but it's not online to see anymore and since I didn't buy it, there is no link I have to it), but they wanted complete anonymity I think because they didn't want more people asking for donations. I never asked or insinuated about donating, in fact it never even crossed my mind, it was just me asking a couple questions about it, But I just told you guys about the tent since I don't have a link to it because all I did was pay shipping with a prepaid Credit Card I bought just for this. But after I get it, I will need help from you guys figuring out the light requirements. I have the one Mars144x5w used for flowering (I'm planning on partitioning a part off just for flowering , but am definitely sure it will take more lights and I will need to figure out the cheapest way to get lights in it. So if anyone has any ideas how I could light it cheaply, please let me know. I will need to keep it as low cost as possible and may end up just using the LED for flowering, and A LOT of CFL's hanging down to light it. That's the only way I can think of so far. But I am VERY happy to have had this tent donated without even asking them to. That was one thing I hadn't even considered would happen. But it definitely warms my heart to know there are people other than on 420 Magazine that will help someone like me. I know you guys pretty well I think by now and your generosity still surprises me, even though I know how nice and wonderful you all are. (BTW, I'm NOT asking for ANYTHING to be donated) since I don't think I deserve it any more than all of you. But if anyone knows where I could buy used or cheap lights in the next year, please let me know or I will just start buying the CFL's in bulk when I have some more money because I only have about $40.00 (I just took out the shipping I had to pay) put aside so far and was going to use that on the Magical Butter Machine, but I've been told that's not the way to go for CCO. Thanks to all you who have been helping/advising me, I am truly blessed to have found you guys!

Thanks Dennise, I will definitely go thru Canna for all the information when I am getting close to making it. I know she's a huge CCO advocate and probably knows more about it than anyone on my journal!

Just thought I'd keep you guys up to date on the girls in flower. The first pic is of Minnie now, She's only 23 days in flower. She is doing it much quicker than Harley and Casey did.

The next pic is of a flower on Minnie showing how fast she is growing

The next pic is just all three girls in the tent, They are looking great to my untrained eye.

Hopefully you guys like what you see! I am so anxious to try these, (Harley and Casey first of course)

Yep, Thats 40x and works great! And regardless of what I've heard other people say on :420:, you can take pictures thru it. All you have to do is line your phones lens up with the loupe and use distance to do the focusing. I'm sure you'll love yours when you get it!

I bought a 10x locally and it works with my camera. I hope the 40x I get does too. It should be here any day now.
