My First Time: AK47 & Gold Bar Kush

In the front left is a small cutting from a gardenia. It is starting to grow after several weeks in the bubble cloner and here. I think I should just take a big branch and root it like I've done to trees. They only flower a few days a year. The amazing smell is worth waiting for. I have a big bush of it along my front stairs.

The orchid pot on the right is one of the GBK clones.

I once had a gardenia bush as an indoor plant. It was hard to keep it going with the children underfoot, and it eventually died, but the smell is something I'll forever be fond of.

First is AK47. She got some water tonight and got rotated. Her clone might have been a day late getting water since I forgot that she isn't on the swick.

GBK is chest high today and exploding with growth. I hope those are girl parts I see taking shape.

See if you can take a few pictures of 2 and 3 nodes below the tops. We are looking for "hair like" white pistils.

It sure looks like a drag queen or transvestite or something. "She" was looking so dang sexy then showed us this.

There was another thread where someone is growing a female that looks a bit like that - a mutation - Pistil-less flowers, sort of like a hairless dog. Apparently it's an especially potent phenome.

I'll see if I can track down the thread. My memory is not so good at that stuff - or names.

The diffinitive difference is balls hanging off to the sides instead of clustered into a "flower" shape.

Wow! I didn't have any idea that was possible. Thanks for finding that. I was tempted to take it down and make it into oil. Didn't know what to do with the five clones.

It's a tough call. If male, those dangly bits could polinate your AK47 in the next day or two - even from another tent.

All science experiments are good I'd open it up in the kitchen or living room to avoid releasing pollen near AK47.

Hopefully you will know if it's pollen when you see it.

That's a male getting ready to pop. I'd get it out of the tent. Those are definately pollen sacks, hanging in the breeze to fill the world with genetic programming.

I just took a cluster and cut them open on a white piece of paper. I don't see anything pollen colored. Smeared them around with the razor blade and all I see is green goo.

I'm home and ready to chop GBK, but I was wondering what to do with it. Collecting a little pollen for future experiments would be a plus. I'd like to make oil but I'm not prepared to do that tonight.

Should I hang it to dry with bags around it, freeze it in zip lock bags, put it in open jars in the fridge, or something else?

Pollen may not be ready yet. The nanners you crushed didn't look mature. There should have been yellow dust.

If you want to collect pollen you can either isolate the whole plant until they pop, or stick a cutting in glass of water. Place a sheet of paper under the pods to collect the pollen that drops.

Then you can freeze it until needed. I think if you freeze the pods it will be hard to get the pollen out of the mush when you thaw. I never tried that way so I could be wrong. It does sound safer than letting them pop.
