My First Plant - Cookie Killer (Auto)

Thanks for sharing the pruning on info!

So are we saying the cause of my leaf problems is a root bound plant?

Do the leaves feel papery? It looks like a P and K issue to me (and maybe a little Calcium). Are you feeding full strength whatever you’re feeding?

Yes the do feel papery and a little fuzzy.

I'm feeding half strength of 0-10-10 every other watering.

He's using soil nutrition for N and feeding 0-10-10 for P and K.
Thanks for helping me communicate things more clearly! Appreciate it! 👍👍

It seems like something needs addressed with my plant.

I'll check the directions . . .

@Jon have you been tagged here yet for your auto knowledge? OPs current leaf issue looks and sounds like his half strength nutes to me. Thoughts?

Phosphorus will give you those weird purplish blotches in the center of the leaf. It will also feel papery almost like construction paper. K will give you that odd leaf canoeing downward.

Here’s P starting

I'm watering about every 3 days.

I'm using half strength because there is P and K in the slow release fertilizer. I was worried about giving it to much.

Thanks for helping me here!
How often are you watering? Why are you using half strength? What do the directions say? Feel free to point to the message number if this was covered

It looks a lot like the early stage in your photo

My guess is the 0-10-10 toxed the plant a little. I wouldn't be too worried about it at this stage. Just continue feeding pure water and dispense with feeding it the supplement for now. This is the issue that crops up when you use Miracle Gro soil. The time release is continuing to meter out nutrient so it's hard to supplement without toxing the plant due to not knowing how much actual nutrient is in the soil.

Feed it pure water as you have been and run the plant to harvest. You might run into a deficiency down the road but I have a feeling your plant will finish flowering before the soil depletes its nutrient.

Do you know where your environmentals are? What temp and humidity are you daily averaging?

You're still in early flower so you may be able to steer the plant a little by increasing the PPFD the plant is getting along with raising the temperature it lives in to raise the metabolism and allow it to chew through some of the nutrient ions you have floating around in the soil. Hopefully the increase in metabolism will start to fatten up the flower sites.

Thank you for this clear direction, appreciate it!

I've been running 68 - 78 degrees (I have a wood burning stove). When I got into flowering stage I reduced humidity to 40-45%.

I'd raise the humidity slightly. Maybe 50% - 55%. Try and get your temps to sit consistently at around 80°. This usually translates into leaf temps around 76° - 78° which is the temp that leaves photosynthesize most efficiently at. Raising it higher will speed up metabolism which, IMO, is a good thing in early flower to be able to really build the girth you want in your flowers. Usually after week 6 you don't see the same growth as the flower is concentrating more on making essential oils, terpenes and all the other cannabanoids and THC we try and max out.

Low humidity is good when you're trying to increase uptake but too low and the leaf stomata will close trying to preserve the moisture in the plant.

I can raise the humidity right now no problem.

I will need some sort of heater for the closet though to be consistently at or around 80.

You can employ an oil filled heater or a ceramic based heater. I like the ceramic mostly for its form factor. Small in a tent or closet is always a good thing when it comes to the gear size.

This is the best ceramic tent heater I've used so far:

One of the things that I've been trying to do this round is to reduce the internode stretch that happens after the light schedule has been flipped to 12/12 and stretch in general. Stretch is a period in photo plants when the plant is converting to flowering hormones and will exhibit a large growth spurt. It can double or triple the size it was pre flip.

I noted the lights on average temps and set my little tent heater a few degrees above that. Worked great as the plants stretched right to the edge of the screen just as I anticipated. At that point I stopped tucking branches under the net and let them go vertical. This is yielding a canopy of 8" - 12" colas with plenty of chunk along the netline. I have a feeling I may break my dry weight record for this tent this round.

Thanks for the heater link, I have it in my cart. The stretch on mine is still going.

Sounds like you are having too much fun with your current grow. What you have described sounds way too good to me. Congrats man! 👍👍

Sounds like somebody has caught the fever....I knew it wouldn't take long. Soon your gonna have a 4x4 big top.

Before you order the heater how big is your closet? It might be a bit powerful if the closet is fairly small. Think about where you want to place it also. Heaters can start fires if not setup right.
