Munki's Ebb n Flow 3 x 3 SCROG 400W HPS Grow

i was jsut going off a report i was reading in a weather mag. then like 2 weeks later on the weather channel they had this whole show on it. they said it going to be a "wet winter", unlike any we've seen in a very long time. But thats what they all say.nocrazy boarding for me.I had an injusrie some ears back that made me stop going big on anything, well almost anything..lol..I just love the way indoor grows look durring the winter.Soooo much color. My 96 bubba gets very purple during winters, along with the rainbow.i try to run my room 74 degrees to promote the color. The winter air allows this alot easier in cali, then if i was to do it in the summer months.

OK, back on topic. Just going to do a picture fest here. Taken at start of flower day 26.

9 is the money shot.thats the one you have to enter in next months Plant of the month for sure.great shots.

It would be cheating as it actually is two plants but thanks.

Got a question for all you growers out there. I find that the scent from the oils on the main trunks smell different than the leaves and flowers. I also find they smell different than each other. Both smell awesome, but I can definitely identify distinct odors from each. Anyone else notice a signature like odor that seems to be identifiable only from the main trunk or stem area?

Yeah the stem has a more earthy, woodsy fragrance kinda like sandalwood smell(I'm speaking of the perfume and wood smell mixed, not the specific fragrance). The flowers have a rich, pungent aroma. Dude, I'm big on smell.

SANDALWOOD, that is it! I knew I knew it, but just could not name it. Thanks Dude!

i love that smell..does yours come out more during harvest?

Don't know yet. This is my very first grow ever. I haven't even successfully planted a seed before. I think I'm doing pretty good for a first time (with much support for you all here at 420 mag) :cheertwo:

I didn't notice the smell until very recently when I gave each stem a good rub with my fingers and smelled them. I probably look like a freak but I find myself sniffing my fingers and tools when working in the grow room. I just cannot get enough of those wonderful odors! SSSSNNNNNIIIIFFFFFFFFFF ..... AAAAAAHHHHHH! :goof:

good job on the grow. for your first grow you did a damn good job..

Thanks Butcher. Glad you are along for the ride.

^^^ First grow? I doesn't show.

Best first grow I've ever seen. :goodjob:

Made it much easier to succeed with the support and advice of this community. Some reading on the web with a bit of luck and intuition have got me this far. Thank you for the recognition OBX.

I just subscribed to this tread. Great work so far.

Thanks and glad to have you aboard.

Freak? No. Teenaged male? Yes. :grinjoint:

Sorry, couldn't resist. So, you at the point where you stop sticking the tips back under the screen and start letting the buds grow up and start slowly raising the light yet?

Oh yeah, I stopped like a week ago. It is in my past posts when I exactly stopped. I do think I have reached the end of early flowering. If the buds are still stretching, it could be measured only as a few millimeters a day. What is noticeable is how all the trichomes are filling in everywhere around the buds. They are getting all snowy!

You're making this shit look eeeeeeaaaasy!:smokin2:

Keep rubbing your stems all the way through your grows, from seedling until before harvest and you'll notice changes as they develop, pretty cool. It's similar with clones, except more subtle, as they are cuttings of more mature plant tissue.

I've also noticed that the intensity of the smell from rubbed stems will be less pronounced when the plant is under stress of some kind. The smell kinda gets weaker if she's struggling, and is a good indication that something may be afoot, if you notice it.

Keep doin' what ya do...

Interesting. I think the strain may have something to do with it as well. Did the stem smell test again last night. No doubt the plant on the right has a strong smell. The one on the left is pretty subtle actually. It also has a more rigid stem structure which has a tendency to split apart. That can be seen in the last picture from the August 31st post. I wonder if those qualities are related at all?
I'm shocked dude. This ur first grow period?

For cannabis, yes. I mean I wanted to do this since I was in high school which was a long time ago but never was in a situation where I felt comfortable enough to do it. That's why my hat's off to you BWC for pulling off a grow where I wouldn't have dared.

We grew some tomatoes, peppers, and basil outside this year with some success. We did have major issues dealing with fungus on the leaves. I am going to chalk it up to having used chemical ferts. I read that they give great growth but often leave the plants susceptible to bugs and disease. Next year will be done with an organic focus looking for increased plant disease resistance. The fruits were very good this year though.

So u attribute the split stem to the rigidity of the stem itself? I thought u did that. It should be cool. I've used duct tape b4. What's with the rubbing of the stem, did I miss something? And what do u mean about pullin off a grow where U wouldn't dare. f that's what ur used to,I'm sure U would. Had no clue this is ur 1st grow and u went hydro? U got balls dude. I haven't even touched hydro. Lookin at ur journal, seein 420fied and PitVipers journals, its only a matter of time b4 I take a stab at it. Lookin good tho munk, like a "blanket of buds"
